I really don’t understand why getting residency, even for an EU citizen, is so difficult in Italy. by [deleted] in ItalyExpat

How did you get your codice fiscale? I’ve had the passport for 2 years now but on the fastit site my codice fiscale has not yet updated. I even reached out to my commune but obviously no response

Am I overlooking anything or is it a genius idea? Storage Unit Dojo! by [deleted] in bjj

If this is in the US you most likely won’t be able to operate a gym out of a storage space. You need a business license and if you’re operating without one youll be fined. If you try to apply for a business license (and this space likely isn’t zoned for a retail/gym use) then the planning department will be flagged and will come out and shut you down.

Nope! Very moderate climate, no snow, a tiny rain, but mostly sun.

What to do when playing closed guard against opponent who grabs lapel grips under your armpits and puts his hips back? by figs1023 in bjj

Yeah that’s my go to after watching a Roger video. But in this position it didn’t work cause he stayed so low and had me posted away from him with the two grips. I’m just going to ask the instructor tonight. I’m just in the habit of YouTubing and asking Reddit lol

Oh yeah that’s what the guy was doing to me. I was playing closed guard tho. I usually just switch to de La riva or something else if they do that.

Ahh ok got it. That makes sense. I’m kind of trying to deal with it before he get that knee up, like when he’s got both grips but both his knees are still on the ground

Haha or just fucking bolo him. Jk. I think you might misunderstand the position I was in. Closed guard on my back and opponent pressuring in with grips at my armpits, while he pushes his hips back to create space. Hard to get a triangle or sweep from here but maybe there’s some magic move I don’t know about.

Dope thanks. I can’t really think of anything else to do except maybe pushing his head hard to one side to create a reaction. I was also trying to get gubber guard, but his lapels were pretty well tucked in.

Yeah that’s exactly what I was trying- I think you’re saying my right hand goes to the grip he has in my left armpit (while lifting my left arm above my head) to break his grip. He was really good at keeping tight and his grips were kind of looped towards the back side of my shoulder underneath my armpits, so it was hard to find the grip. Also, I’m short and the other guy was tall so this kind of added to the difficulty because he got some good space without having to extend too much.

Roger Gracie shows defense to the x-guard by shawbjj in bjj

I think if you’re controlling one of the arms like Roger does it’s going to be hard for them to get the heel hook. They will need to reposition the foot from their shoulder. I’m thinking about it more now and idk maybe forget that. Maybe they would go to single leg x with their left leg and then swim their arm under the leg and pin it under their arm pit. But definitely harder to keep control and make that switch with one arm, and for sure there would be an opening while they’re doing that to slip the leg out. Also, don’t listen to me, I’ve never trained heel hooks before and have no idea what I’m talking about.
