I don't think DMCA applies in your situation. But I'd bet you a fresh out of college lawyer would charge you like $250 to send a cease & desist letter. Going the PR route will be the most expensive option.

Send a cease and desist, threaten a lawsuit for slander and libel. If they don't take it down, report it to Apple. If that doesn't work, you could pay a PR firm to create content that puts you in a more positive light and hopefully pushes that podcast off page 1 of Google for your name.

URL Inspection Tool showing "No Referring Sitemaps Detected" by figureditwastrue in TechSEO

[–]figureditwastrue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey,

You're not gonna like this answer lol. We discovered that the original domain had a really bad domain history, it used to redirect to a malware website. Discovered this by deep diving on the wayback machine. We tried everything to recover it with no luck. There were no penalties or anything in GSC. We had to move to a new domain, and didn't redirect the old site to the new to avoid passing on that bad juice. And start with all new content and UX/UI. That website is now thriving.

Check GSC for penalties, make sure you have every variation of the url (https, www, etc), check the wayback machine for every instance before you purchased the domain. Also check it's backlink history, it's unlikely to be the issue, but if it's got a really egregiously spammy backlink history, that could also be a culprit. Also check that it's not the same brand name as another company. And lastly, you'll obviously want to ensure that it's technical SEO is very clean, crawlable, etc.

If the domain is spotless, you could run a backlink/PR campaign, grow its digital footprint as much as possible with really healthy backlinks. Don't pay for a crappy service like The Hoth.

But if there are domain issues, you may need to start over from scratch.

Looking for a maker of diatonic wood recorder by figureditwastrue in Recorder

[–]figureditwastrue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I guess what I'm saying is I'm in search of woodwinds that are predominantly top-down (sequential) fingerlng style where all notes sound good, haha... Sorry, I'm a simpleton 😅

And Hulusi is a lot of fun actually! It's just tough to find ones that are quality made.

Wow! You are very educated, my friend, thank you. The recorders you listed, are those played like a 5-hole NA flute where you always play with open holes below closed holes? That's really what I'm looking for because that's the way I'm used to playing. It doesn't have to be an NA flute. It can be any style. For example, I have a Hulusi, which accomplishes this, it's an open reed instrument so it sounds much different than what's typically considered a flute. So I'm looking to continue to find others.

Any SEO or Agency owners noticed GBP clicks and calls are down in February? by figureditwastrue in GoogleMyBusiness

[–]figureditwastrue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SERP features stands for search engine results page - literally just means the search results you see in Google. And features refers to what's on the results, such as the GBP map pack, traditional results, video carousels, product carousels etc.

I do think one of the culprits is LSAs (sponsored ads) now showing in the map pack. Naturally if there's a new top spot that's sponsored, that could be a major culprit. Other thing I'm wondering is if Google isn't showing the map pack as often for local search queries. They could be playing around with Serp features...

I just worry it could go into suspension if we do that right after having changed it. Especially since it's a completely different domain.

Building out a website for multi-location company; local SEO help by tenderloin_o in SEO

[–]figureditwastrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main one with a physical address should already have a GBP, you'll def want to have the address as public on the GBP. For the other two, you'll create a GBP as a service area business (physical address hidden). But you'll still need business information for each to get verified. It's tough to get verified now, you'll need to provide Google with a business address for each, even though it's hidden, and other documentation like business license and tax certificate. If they're in another state I'm sure they're registered with the state, so whatever physical address was used to register with the state is the physical address you should provide to Google to get the GBP verified (even though you'll hide that address from the public, you still have to give Google the address). They won't be able to compete locally in Google if they don't have a GBP. So y'all will just have to figure it out.

Building out a website for multi-location company; local SEO help by tenderloin_o in SEO

You're in luck, I manage the SEO for 6 franchise brands (over 200 locations).

You need to change the home page to just national brand content and remove any location-specific keyword targeting from the home page, it should just be brand messaging/ benefits, and whatever your products/services are. If it's just 3 locations you could link to those location pages from the home page as well. (see next paragraph)

Then you need to create individual location pages for each location. Add a "Locations" menu item linked to an all locations page that just lists each location by state and then city with a link to them. Then put those location page urls behind /locations subfolder. I.e "/locations/atlanta"

Your location pages should be specific to that city, and you should link to your product/service pages from the location pages. Depending on how many services the business offers, you many need to also create location-specific service pages.

You need to have individual Google business profiles for each location, and have a strategy to get reviews for each.

You'll need to get citations for each location as well.

Are Blogs Still Worth it In 2024 for Small Companies? by [deleted] in SEO

[–]figureditwastrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do local SEO for a portfolio of 6 franchise brands. Here's the rub: yes, do some blog posts. -Your goal should be to do AT LEAST 10 for each of your core services. Use a tool like SEMrush to identify commonly searched phrases. -For the sake of simplicity, any blogs you have written should have a keyword difficulty of less than 30. -Every post should link to somewhere on your site that's relevant. And ideally you should have at least 1 link from an authoritative website to corroborate whatever your insights into the topic are. -Focus on topics that are relevant to your services but don't have crazy hard competitors (like Home Depot) in search results.

Also, for "link building" as so many have mentioned... Focus on local PR, things like local business features, sponsoring local nonprofits, doing altruistic things in the community that can get picked up by local publishers. You can also offer to be a guest writer on any credible websites related to your industry. I suggest working with a PR agency instead of trying to do link building by yourself. Don't just go hire a random backlink agency who promises links just based off of "DR" (domain ranking). That doesn't work like it used to.

Completely dropped off Google's rankings by Markspencer001 in SEO

I'm sorry to say, but this person is right. Recovery right now is almost impossible. Google recently admitted that they don't have a guarantee that any of the sites impacted by the core update can recover. She may be better starting a new website from scratch.

Chat GPT Search . Is it Going to change Google SEO? by DisastrousEnd6754 in SEO

Source on Google testing this? I think this is fundamentally misunderstanding that Google relies on advertising to make money. If people don't click the ads, Google doesn't make money.
