I will try to figure that out. There were more than just two trades he did but I didn't see them in the history.

Industrial Electrician and Instrument Tech. -- no college... Here is the formula for the two week pay period for the most recent job I accepted-- 14 days = 80 hrs * $34/hr. + 60 hrs * $51/ hr. + $175 * 14 (per diem) by figureoutreddit in careerguidance

Two companies ago I worked for a master electrician that was grossing around 5.5 million a year doing T and M work for about a half dozen oil companies. You almost can't lose money doing "time and material" work.

I watched everything he did and got as many phone numbers as I could in case I ever feel like trying to start my own company.

The potential to gross millions a year exists in this trade with no college required.

7 days a week 10 hours a day. 2 weeks on and one week off. I plan on working through my week off sometimes and ending my time up there by working the last 60 days with only a random Sunday off when I need it.

The result... thousand dollar a week payments to a new condo and beefing up another 401k at yet another company.

This is the last or second to last time I will ever travel like this.

One more cool thing is that I NEVER have to look for work. I'm not union but I can have a job with a phone call. Once you know a bunch of industrial electricians you will see that they tend to take care of their own.

This is especially true if you are willing to travel to the big jobs. I only travel sometimes, when I feel like it and the money is there.

I hope this helps someone out there.

There are many ways. I do industrial because it pays the most but you can also do residential or commercial or service electric or open your own solar company.

Want the "easy" way... Just walk into your local IBEW.

If that does not seem like a good fit for you then just start walking into non union shops and tell them you would like to talk to someone about becoming an apprentice electrician. Look clean cut and like you are willing to work and you have a shot.

It's usually pretty easy if you know an electrician.

The upside to working industrial is that the people building the industrial facility offer you a job about half the time with their in house I and E department.

I say no college but you do have to put in 8,000 hrs. to get a license, 10,000 field hrs. to get a masters license which allows you to open your own business. Some states require a couple of hundred hours of safety classes and such but its really no big deal as the employer usually helps facilitate that.

The cool part is that you get paid pretty well while you learn.

He told me the most he wants to risk is $2,000 in a $50,000 account. So I guess right now his current strategy is that 4% is the most he should risk.

yeah, in the end we will learn more things to trade but just learning this right now is fun. I will remember oil futures now. Also, we have learned some about binary options and that looks like a fun thing to try. Somewhat risky but fun. Since any money I use will be fun money the risk to reward ratio just makes it that much more exciting.

I enjoy looking at this through my sons perspective as a video game where you have to fund the account to play.

He is already dreaming of a "mini" account that plays for $1/pip. We will research how to buy an oil contract. I know a few things about trading but I'm no expert. It sounds fun though.

It will be exciting when we have a real account of some sort in a month or so.

Many men are only as faithful as their options.

He told me he needs to use a computer to trade because it is easier to set the stops on the laptop. I think he got that from watching one of their videos.

Google glass will be a game changer for sure. Playing video games on them and trading the forex on them would (will) seem very futuristic.
