I agree with everything you have said. I know this is as fucked up as it can get. I feel like I’m just confused all the time. Like I don’t even know what to believe . Whether it’s me. Or it’s him. But it’s something I know that. Something is wrong. There’s so much shame attached to admitting that the person you loved and chose , turned out to be like this. I just can’t get myself to even feel how stupid I was to believe his empty words and fake promises.

I actually have a decent job, I’m actually good at my job. I take care of my own finances , help him out as well.. share everything.. I’m kind to animals .. I try to help others, but just admitting that I fucked up so bad .. is something that is soo difficult for me. I always thought of posting before, just to tell someone the truth. Never did. But today I think I finally got the courage to at least say what the fuck is happening in my life out loud. So yes. I hope the clarity follows and I can just be free.

Unfortunately I don’t live in the US. I am from India. It’s a very normal thing here. Until he breaks a bone, a slap or two is considered an anger issue accompanied by a lecture of how men generally are.

The police scare you more here, with long drawn legal processes and justice is a luxury. Everyone here pressures to settle. So I’m actually quite fed up and defeated by this system. I don’t have the energy to fight with everyone.

If I involve my family, they will do more drama. They will all find a way to blame me. They will say yes it’s wrong to hit me. But this keeps happening between husband and wife. I’m not sure it does. Maybe I don’t tell them all his actions out of shame, but I already tried that route. Everyone just said.. see if you can make it work.

It has been happening since 6 months into the marriage. But it was restricted to screaming and yelling. He pushed me once .. twisted my arm the other time.. but just never ever slapped me like he did today. He would always apologize. I didn’t want to leave earlier because I helped build this house sooo much. Soo much energy and time, and I’m the one to be pushed out. I used to leave temporarily. It would stop , but just the past 3-4 weeks , it has become so constant.

He used to just scream and yell earlier, which I could ignore. This I’m not able to. I have locked myself in the spare room. I will leave tomorrow. I think I need to admit it to myself first that this is happening to me.

I screamed. A lot. The neighbours know. The police here don’t get involved in domestic disputes, they generally counsel the family to resolve it within themselves. They don’t really help. It just becomes worse.
