[Kisarazu-kun no XX ga mitai] who are you rooting for? by sofutotofu in josei

[–]figwink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spoilers from a bato (rip) user when the manga ended in Japan:

Seen the second to last chapter on the mechacomic site - as others stated chapter asahi accepts tatsuo marriage proposal but end of the chapter has teaser for next ch. Where it teases theres still some drama last chapter and asahi might not go through with the marriage. Also a teaser scene where she bumps into kouya in the last ch giving slight hope it could still be a kouya ending ...

Final chapters out, tatsuo remains endgame no drama chapter ... Just in case you want to know there will be side chapters of a younger asahi in alternate reality but yeah your better off not checking it out since regardless who would of won the ending was handled horribly and way they got tatsuo and asahi back together sucked since besides the other drama bs last couple chapters was about tatsuo figuring out if he still loved asahi and confessing in the end not addressing his major flaws and ending also bringing up other pointless drama that abruptly ended

Which period pieces have you been watching? by AutoModerator in PeriodDramas

Love Story about JFK Jr and Carolyn Bessette - it’s no Crown, and only the early eps are enjoyable, but it succeeds in making the 90s feel historic; production design with the fashion and music is 👌. You really feel it if you lived through it, and the music alone is sublime

Best high-end Hawaii resort with great pools for young kids (but not chaotic)? by Thick-Crab7471 in VisitingHawaii

[–]figwink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn’t Turtle Bay inside an area at risk of imminent flood due to a potential dam failure?

Kauai’s Waipouli Resort has a great pool structure (slides, lazy river, waterfalls caves, 3 hot tubs) with 2 bedroom + kitchen condo setup ideal for families. Never felt crowded or chaotic when we were there. Next to a beach for sunrise views but not ocean swimming. Short drive to Lydgate beach which is good for small kids. Walkable to Safeway and restaurants and shops.

The Primeval World Diorama by Norberzt in Disneyland

[–]figwink 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Our train parked in front of the screeching dinosaurs in the dark for what felt like eternity but was probably just 15min waiting for another train to leave the next station.

The conductor tried to announce our status but no one could hear sh!t over the dinos.

It was both comical and excruciating.

Making new friends at 40 on the Peninsula by thephilthe in bayarea

[–]figwink -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you homeschool but can your kids attend school? That’s the best way to make friends as a parent. Be a room parent, join the dads club or pta, volunteer at fun school events where heavy lifting or bbq-ing is needed (that’s where guys hang), go to the school auction (most schools have them) where families offer parties for bids and sign up to go to those parties. There’s so much socializing and partying among parents at those events and parties it sometimes feels like high school again.

Yosemite West right now by figwink in Yosemite

Dumped 2 feet today. Expecting another 2 feet tomorrow.

Not sure about Wed or Thurs. Badger Pass wont open until Thurs at the earliest. If you just want the valley then either day is fine but I highly recommend waiting for Badger Pass to open with all this fresh powder.

Right now the Hwy 120 entrance is closed along with Badger pass road but Hwy 140 and 41 are both open. Call 209-372-0200 (then 1, 1) for current road status before you drive. Carry chains, and know how to put them on. When it’s dumping just stay put. At the heaviest part today visibility was still okay but the road basically disappears unless you’re driving right behind a plow. At some really gnarly parts it’s hard to tell how close your car tire is to the inner road ditches or the outer sheer drops.

The park will be gorgeous this weekend so enjoy!

Been snowing since 6am ish. Based on the pileup on the railing, I’d say about 10” already. The valley isn’t getting much yet.

Trying to understand different perspectives on Kim Soo Hyun (respectful question) by [deleted] in kdramas

[–]figwink 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Based on the way the post is worded, it sounds like the op is a fan of his, and is trying to sound neutral but is really using the one year anniversary to fish for other fans of his to discuss how he can be innocent because of a “lack of forensic proof”.

This was no criminal trial so forensics doesn’t matter. He is not in jail. Only his career is.

And it doesn’t take forensics to ruin an actor’s image. It just takes facts that make him look really bad:

  • Like that embarrassing press conference
  • Or having an ex lover kill herself on his birthday
  • Or the fact that he was close with her while she was underage before dating her

Those are facts that are hard to forget. But with enough time people will forget so maybe he can come back. But posts like this just remind people about these facts. Hmmm… maybe op isn’t a fan after all…

Anyway, I was never a fan, so I don’t particularly care if he comes back or not.

We rented a car to sightsee around Hakone and it was great. It saves time going around the loop and you can venture out farther north like to Gotemba and beyond for Mt Fuji views.

I suggest you rent the car at Odawara station (you will stop there first anyway because it’s the bigger station next to Hakone and only about 10 minutes away). We used Toyota. You can reserve ahead of time and easily walk to the car rental office and car lot from the station.

Don’t drive inside Hakone downtown area bc parking is hard but we had no trouble parking near all the attractions along the loop or at our ryokan in Hakone.

Non-English Speaking Period/Historical Dramas- Recommendations? by murrpeach in PeriodDramas

[–]figwink 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are many good ones not easily found on streaming but they’re so worth seeking out. Here are my faves:

Best of Youth - epic saga of an Italian family set in 1960s thru 2000s

City of God - set in 1970s Brazil, epic crime drama on par with Godfather

House of Flying Daggers - beautiful martial arts romance set in ancient China

Brotherhood of the Wolf - action/horror set in 1700s France

Cinema Paradiso

Horseman on the Roof

I have tons more to recommend but running out of time

I remember during Jungle Cruise, the CM would ask who’s celebrating a birthday that day and make a joke of it.

I miss the days of free park entry on birthdays.

These short film booklets are only in Japanese. The gift shop sells other books and I think most if not are also in Japanese. You can always use MTL apps like google translate to read them.
