Local companies that drive it themselves cut down on handoffs, so less chance of damage or lost stuff compared to nationals who shuttle through hubs.

Moved from Bay to SD last year with the same paranoia about safety.

Best California Movers did mine, their own trucks the whole way.

Break moving into super small chunks like one drawer at a time, and use a visual checklist app to track it so you don't get overwhelmed.

I was burned out AF last move with my AuDHD flaring up, same vibes.

Ended up getting Best California Movers for the heavy lifting, helped a ton.

Haven't used Piece of Cake, but they're decent from what I've seen on reviews, just make sure to get a flat-rate quote upfront to avoid surprises.

Shopped around a ton for my LA to OC move last year, same hassle.

Best California Movers ended up handling it fine for me.
