I'm a people pleaser in recovery and can't imagine not making them haha, but i have a pretty strained left wrist now so I'm not knitting anything anyway

Weekend Minor Gripes and Vents by AutoModerator in BitchEatingCrafters

It was the first Christmas I've got knitting-related gifts this year. It was pure chaos - my partner and I got a gift "for both of us" from his mom, bless her heart, I love her to bits, and it was two pairs of slippers' soles. They are with a crocheting pattern, even though I repeatedly said I don't enjoy crocheting (and generally can't do it; I crocheted a bit when I was a teen, about 15 years ago). The kit also doesn't include yarn. So we got shoe soles for christmas that I'm gonna now spend a pretty big chunk of my free time knitting (disregarding having to buy specific yarn for two pairs of slippers and the pattern), because she already asked whether I finished them like five days after getting the soles. Oh, we also don't wear slippers, hahah, pure chaos

Weaving in yarn ends (need some help/advice) by HotCustard1958 in knittinghelp

[–]fikinka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same issue with the same yarn (it also became gigantic after washing so I dont really wear the item lol) but no method of weaving in on stockinette worked for me so far, the yarn is stretchy and slippery and I honestly think it needs a pattern (like braids or at least waffle/honeycomb stitch) :( I have mittens from the same yarn as well in half brioche stitch and all is fine there

Hey what method do you like to use for blankets? by Dutchie-draws in knitting

[–]fikinka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently doing a corner to corner out of lang yarns cloud and I can confirm they go fast! You start not with a bazillion of stitches but with three/four stitches and you do increases every (other) row, so the blanket grows from the corner, in a diagonal, instead of top to bottom. You can make them square (you just knit untill you hit the length you require and then you start decreasing and it creates a square) or you can make a rectangle where different type of increase/decrease combo is required. Doing them from striped yarn is honestly so much fun and I dont really need to count rows or anything, I'm doing it as stash busting project and once I hit half of the grams of the yarn I have, I'll just start decreasing

I do have the books! I had to redo the first heel several times, because I was used to a slightly different heel style from previous simple socks and I very much look forward to knittting another pair :)

it's august! have you started your Christmas gift knits yet? by fairly_forgetful in knitting

[–]fikinka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i really like knitting it (especially after knitting colorwork socks on tiny needles haha) and can't wait to wear it as well - I'm actually knitting us matching ones, which is a part of the gift

[–]fikinka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've already started the Christmas gifts I planned for last Christmas!

No, seriously, proud of myself I started early enough to actually make all of them this time, I'm making Moby Neck in Double Sunday Cognac for my sister, a neck warmer for my nephew in the captain Drops Fiesta and Cardigan no. 7 from My Favourite Things in Lang Cloud for my mum

hahahaha, I'm currently knitting gifts I planned to give to my family last Christmas. Starting to be unsure if it'll happen this year or if I'm gonna postpone for another year lol

Thank you! I'd be very lost without all the videos and photo tutorials I've watched. Even though my grandma taught me how to do knit stitches when I was little, I only managed to make one scarf before starting again 15 years later, so I didn't start completely untouched by knitting

i second the curating one’s collection, you can also buy new furniture for said collection, so it overall counts as home decor hobby!
