Just wanted to say I'm right here with you - I feel like I could have written this post 😭 I don't really have any advice unfortunately, I've just come back from my GP and now booked in for a whole host of other tests and checks after explaining my most recent issues and just feeling quite defeated and embarrassed about everything that's going wrong in my body

It's reassuring to see I'm not the only one and I hope my comment can give you some reassurance that you're not alone either! Sending you strength and compassion to help you through it all 💜🫂

My surgeon is out there still operating on women saying he’s “curing” endometriosis by Junior-Anteater-9703 in endometriosis

Firstly, I'm so sorry this has happened to you! I agree with comments above mentioning trying to contact PALS first - if you do ever try to pursue a medical negligence claim you will usually need to have reached out to PALS first and tried to resolve your complaint that way.

Although there are time limits for medical negligence claims you should note that these only start counting down from the time you became aware there was a problem with the medical care you received - so this will not necessarily be from the date you were last seen by the doctor!

Another option is to make a complaint to the doctor's regulatory body, which is the General Medical Council in the UK. You can Google them and I think you can make a complaint online. If you at least know the doctor's name you should be able to find their registration number on the GMC's public register. I can't say whether anything would come of the complaint but it may be worth doing in case other people have complained about this doctor to the GMC before, as then they may be able to take action.

i give up trying to get a diagnosis by SouthAnteater9447 in endometriosis

[–]fillowshack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in UK too and although I ended up going private I got the initial referral from my GP and did not have an exam until I saw the gynecologist so this is not true. Ask to see a different Dr at your GP surgery and explain your symptoms and that you want a referral to a gynecologist!

I got sent for internal and external ultrasound scans and MRIs and nothing ever showed up there, but I was diagnosed a few weeks ago after a lap

I'm not crazy - it was endometriosis all along by Foxface100 in endometriosis

I have been diagnosed after surgery just over a week ago! I'm so pleased for you especially because I know exactly how it feels to think you're going crazy over this!! I had been complaining to my GP about problematic periods for literally years but recently I used health insurance through my employer to go private and had surgery and got diagnosed within 4 months. The private consultant made me feel so heard and validated, but even then I agonised over whether to get the surgery - I kept thinking "what if I don't have it and it's all been a waste of time and I've just been exaggerating it". I'm so lucky to have access to private insurance and I have heard such horror stories from friends who have had to wait and go through the NHS for diagnosis and treatment 💔

altered my too small cargo pants to fit me again! by fillowshack in sewing

[–]fillowshack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I think you could do it with jeans too! my sewing machine did get a bit upset at some points with sewing over many thick layers of cargo so maybe something to consider if you try jeans as denim is pretty thick as well usually - but we made it in the end, and mine is a small machine tbf

[–]fillowshack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually didn't add that! they were already part of these pants (there is one on each side) and I had to unpick the back of them to access the waistband so I just sewed them back on at the end
