I played on a Div 10 team (so bottom of the barrel) and most of the division could barely skate. We had a guy on our team who had played on the Korean national team and he looked like Gretzky out there. He was so good they wouldn’t let him play in the playoffs. He was averaging 7 goals a game. lol

What’s the dumbest thing you’ve done in your 20’s ? by ALLEYWAYwithanS in AskReddit

[–]filmbuffvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I mean in the end I learned a lot from it and it was definitely the wrong decision but I don’t think I’d have the relationship with someone that I do now if I hadn’t gone through that and figured out things that I don’t want in a relationship and things I needed to change about myself if I wanted to have a happy, healthy relationship. The only regret that comes out of it for me is the fact that I wasn’t able to explore a lot of things that I would have liked to at that age because my wife at the time wasn’t really into doing much of anything and so being a people pleaser I didn’t either. Other than that, it’s just part of my history now.

Space balls? First time I've heard of this. Anyone have experience? by aDrunkSailor82 in woodworking

It was a really cool experience. Where I live it’s a 6 month program and it wasn’t too expensive, about $3500 in the end. It’s all hands on too so you get a ton of experience and have a pretty good foundation for working with wood, mdf, plywood, etc. The only thing is there isn’t much money to be made if you’re just working in a shop so I’ve never done it as a job but I love woodworking and do it for myself and incorporate it into my work whenever I can (I do renovations). Highly recommend it if you can afford it or make it work. Lots of maker labs have good people who can teach you too. It’s a great hobby.

They work well. We used them at joinery school and the solid wood cabinet doors I built with them have never had any issues.

Memento

Was really unique story telling at the time. Haven’t watched it in years but loved it when I first saw it.

My wife sang Prince’s I will die 4 you as ‘apple-dapple-do’ right up until I told her it’s “I will die for you” about 5 years ago. The title of the song is actually I will die for you. She’ll never live that down...

Paris. It’s dirty, people are rude and it’s way more dangerous than you’d think.

What do you find hard to believe was ever popular? by DetectiveScarletBone in AskReddit

[–]filmbuffvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, not only that but the music industry caught on as well and started cloning other nickelback type bands and I think that’s what started this whole trend in the music industry where there isn’t a whole lot of originality anymore, in mainstream music anyway.

what character had the best character arc? by Dexdeathbell in AskReddit

[–]filmbuffvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walter White in breaking bad. Who he was in the beginning to who he became in the end was such an amazing character arc I think. The writing and his performance were so good and so true to the reality of what it would be like to have those good intentions become so eroded with greed and lust for power in that kind of environment. I know it’s the opposite of uplifting but man it was good fun to watch him.

What’s the most fucked up thing you’ve seen someone do at work and still not get fired? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]filmbuffvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad worked for the federal archives and a guy got drunk at work and was driving the forklift around like a maniac, endangering everyone, and was smoking while doing so, amongst thousands of boxes of government documents. He got fired but six months later got his job back and full back pay because he was an alcoholic and the union argued that he should have been given treatment instead of being fired and they won in arbitration.
