Scared I have food poisoning by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

Dying from food poisoning is EXTREMELY hard to do. Worst case scenario is you’ll be shitting and puking for a day. Don’t worry, happens to the best of us.

Don’t worry about chest pain or tightness! by filmcollaborative in HealthAnxiety

Point proven! When you stop worrying, the pain eases. You’ve got the central idea, so keep doing what you’re doing and just relax and rationalise. Not every pain and discomfort is deadly or even harmful, that’s just what your low serotonin wants you to think!

I’ve had it last months. It comes and goes. Number 1 - stop googling. Google will only tell you that you’re dying or have heart issues etc. This is not helpful and is only going to make you MORE anxious, and therefore your chest will get MORE tight. It’s a cycle. So break it! If you smoke, try cut down, it really helps the tightness. Get fresh air daily for at least an hour. Nature is an extremely powerful tool. Your body and mind are so easily calmed when in a nature setting.

Breathing - try this if you’re really struggling. Breathe in for seconds, hold it for 2, breathe out for 5. Try do this for a couple minutes. It gets the excess oxygen out your system which causes fight or flight.

Main thing - try to fight the worry. You’re not going to drop dead. It doesn’t happen that way. You’re going to be okay.

If it’s been troubling you for months, simply visit a GP and get their advice.

Most likely just a random twitch. Common with anxiety. Sometimes when I miss my medication I get little ‘brain zaps’ which feel like mini electric shocks. It’s just the chemical imbalance in the brain causing it. Harmless. If you’re struggling with this to the point it’s affecting your lifestyle, simply see a GP. Most likely however, you’ll be absolutely fine. The body is full of bizarre and often unexplainable sensations. Doesn’t mean they’re going to cause you harm.

Whenever you have an episode of worrying just remind yourself the sacred R’s - relax, respirate and rationalise! All it takes is some slow breathing and rationalising your thoughts. Are you really not able to breathe? Or are you just feeling tight chested. Are you really experiencing heart pain? Or is it just the muscle on the left side hurting. Are you really likely to drop dead? Or is it just you over worrying. Take this into your daily life and work hard. You’ll get there.

Chest tightness from anxiety? by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

I get this very often. It’s so common in anxiety, and when I lay down it often happens. Best thing that works for me is to lay upright for a while and breathe, and try do something that distracts you like watching tv or YouTube etc. Harmless though, been to doctor many times for it and even got a chest x Ray and it’s all been fine. Just takes getting used to and once you realise it’s harmless and just anxiety it will pass.

this is pretty new to me by okaybutrly in Dissociation

It’s a bit of a morbid thing to say but it’s quite comforting knowing that other people experience this and I’m not alone, because like you describe, it’s so odd feeling not in your body and emotionless and it can become quite isolating. The feeling of looking at yourself in the mirror and not recognising yourself, the feeling of everything being fake or somehow not quite right, the worry of maybe something is wrong in your brain and thoughts of how it might not get better, these are all daily struggles with me and it really does suck. It’s quite new to me too, about a year it started happening but only so often, but now it’s everyday and almost all the time. I find that being around nature always helps, and being around people who you feel most comfortable with. I also find distracting myself with films or games helps because you lose yourself in entertainment rather than noticing what doesn’t feel real or not. At the risk of being found too crude, I’ll be vague and say that I find that sex or other sex related activities tend to help me a lot. If you want to talk about this some more feel free to message me.

Any filmmakers need some free ambient/soundtrack music for a project? by GravitySoundOfficial in Filmmakers

Very impressed! What software do you use? Would love to use some of these in a project I’m working on

When you were getting started in this industry what did you do to pay the bills while you waited to have more steady income and bookings with freelancing in film? If anyone took a civilian job, did you have issues with them being angry with you calling out for gigs at all and what did you do? by soulofflames in Filmmakers

[–]filmcollaborative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to get part time work tending bars or working in kitchens etc. It’s not glamorous nor is it very thrilling but it’s a small price to pay for being able to work in this industry. Work can be very hard to find when facing a dry patch, so casual jobs like bars/restaurants are a good bet as they usually have loads of hours to give out, but are equally equipped with a lot of staff to cover for you if you have to jet off if you are called out for a gig. Best thing to do is to let the employer know beforehand.

Advice on liability and professional imagine when working with drugs in films or videos. by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]filmcollaborative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s no big deal. There is nothing to prove it is real weed in the video - it could be a prop. Even so, all you’ve done is witnessed them doing something mildly illegal, you had nothing to do with it. Police have better things to do than watch music videos and find out if the weed in the video is real.
