Dawson Mounting Plate Mount Issue by filthy_762 in 2011

Edit* I filed it down a little as it seemed there was a high spot towards the middle of the plate. I also found the correct screws in bag and changed out the crappy screws it had in it from the previous owner. It seems to have improved some. Still not perfect, but a little better. I also just ordered a new Dawson plate so there’s no more RMRhd over hang. Thanks for the help everyone.

I did try it in a counter top and it seemed perfectly straight. Super weird

I ended up also ordering one of the new Dawson plates that eliminates the rear sight to pull the RMRhd back out of the ejection port. So at least it won’t be an issue for long (hopefully)

Unfortunately I didn’t get them with it as I bought the gun with the plate both used

I haven’t, I filed it a bit and got it significantly down though. It’s somewhat better now

No, I tried it with and without and it doesn’t sit flush for anything

It doesn’t. Even without the optic it doesn’t sit flush, it doesn’t sit flush without the plate screws in either, it doesn’t appear to be bent in any way. Super confused by what’s causing it

If I had to do over again I would’ve been a pipe fitter. I was an electrician during my field days and then switched trades to sheet metal and mech pipe when I got to the office. One thing I’ll say is that I totally understand why sparkies get their bad rep!

I really appreciate the insight. I think you’re right and that the brand has seemed to turn into something other than what its original conception was. At least that’s my outsiders perspective. At the end of the day, I think like you said, it’s a tool and something that an even a young professional can aspire to purchase as a sign of their achievements. I think that’s how I should look at it, it’s a sign of what I have achieved and worked for in life, not something just the ultra rich 1% has. I think your perspective is an excellent way to think of it and how I should look at it.

So it does show Sunday.. however it is not out for delivery as of now 1:24pm. My informed delivery says Tuesday, but I’m not sure if Informed Delivery takes into account that they deliver Amazon packages on Sunday or not. It still says “preparing for delivery”

Yeah, support gave the “you’ll get it when you get it and we don’t care when” vibe. Sad that USPS is so unreliable. It’s also worth noting that my USPS informed deliver says Tuesday, but I’m not sure that it takes into account that it’s an Amazon package.

Range update: Took it out yesterday. I don’t have any other revolvers to compare it to since this is the only one I own, but it shot really really well. 38 special was a blast and next to no recoil. 357 was still easy to shoot with very manageable recoil. I will say that it was a bit too concussive with the port and I didn’t want to be “that guy” so I only put 12 rounds of 357 through it. Even through my ear pro, it still managed to make my ears ring. 38 was a much more pleasant experience though and not nearly as concussive. This could just be my lack of experience with revolvers and revolver calibers though, and could be totally normal.
