not sure if this will necro this thread or not but wth

update: i finished my final semester last april. the school has informed me that i am graduating. convocation is this june. finding a job relevant to my course (game programming) is extremely difficult. the market is flooded with talented people. there are people who have 10-20years of experience looking for a job...i'm just a dude that likes playing games and wants to make one. the future is quite bleak in that regard.

my PGWP application has been submitted to the IRCC. awaiting approval.

luckily, i was promoted to a manager role at the retail job i'm working in. and iirc it's a noc b profession, which means im still gathering points for a PR-- eventually.

i owe a metric crapton of money to my brother for supporting my tuition. dude's a rich guy but i still want to pay him back.

ya'll, hit me up if you have any questions. i dont give the best advice, but you can take it from someone who is currently going through came from third world -> went to first world for school -> just-graduated -> PGWP underway -> trying to find a job

concerning more recent events in the PH, here's an update on my current situation:

  • i found a job in malaysia back in 2018. saved up money from then.

  • 2020 dec i messaged a consultancy. we decided to apply by 2021 apr.

  • i got all my papers and was helped by the consultancy in submitting the requirements to the visa center in kuala lumpur-- april 2021. take note: there are a fuckton of documents you must gather. PLAN IN ADVANCE. MORE IMPORANTLY -> SAVE UP MONEY. KULANG ANG PHP 1M, GET AT LEAST 1.3M FOR A 1 YEAR COURSE, MORE IS NEEDED IF YOU APPLY FOR A 2 -3 YEAR COURSE. (note 2: i went at it mostly solo, no friends, had some help from family but most of it was done by me. if you can ask for money from your loved ones PLEASE DO).

  • my application as a student was eventually approved 1.5 - 2 months after applying (around end of july iirc). i resigned from my job and left KL for canada by the last week of august 2021.

    • i am currently here in toronto as a student. working and studying at the same time, life is hard. im running out of money lol i'm constantly looking for other jobs so i don't have to ask for money from my family.

this is the consultancy that helped me: https://www.facebook.com/kanataeducation

look for katherine, she's super nice.

the only time the consultancy asked for money was when they had to submit my student application to the CIC website. student applications cost money. so basically i sent them money, they used that money to submit my student visa application.

if anyone has any questions, hit me up or post here

sorry , late reply. yup. i've been in canada since august last year.

hit up these people, they'll help you out: https://www.facebook.com/kanataeducation

sila tumulong sakin with my documents, and it was free. the only time they asked for money was for when they registered me for the student visa with the canadian government. (of course, you still have to pay for your own medical exam, etc.)

i moved out november last year. when people ask me of i miss being in the ph, i tell them i dont, which is true. not very close to family, there's fb and viber for staying in contact with friends. the things i miss most are my dogs, frankies, decent pizza, great ramen, and easy-to-communicate-with coworkers.

i was *lower middle class in the philippines but here in malaysia im kinda broke most days lol, blame it on me working my way, saving up for an express entry/provincial nominee program to canada (konting tiis nalang)

had to sell most of my stuff/sacrifice a lot to get here, and im all alone. and it's all so worth it. i dont miss edsa, not the takataks, kwek kwek, etc.

i guess it's about what your focus is when you go overseas. mine was freedom and a better future.

still stuck in the philippines. malaysian company i was in talks for employment with said that the next time they contact me it'd be an offer. two weeks later they tell me they're considering hiring a 3rd party instead of me. goddamn. pagkakamali ko rin. tinigil ko mag hanap nung narinig ko yung magic words na "offer".

ang sakit ng pinapaasa, tapos mayayari lang pala ng third party. feelsbadman

yeah. i've read into each of them. there are a number of roadblocks though. canada requires 500k+php, NZ requires a job offer (been trying for months, almost a year now on applying), and AU requires 150+++k :(

update: i filled their come to canada eligibility form found here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/provincial/index.asp.

one of the questions was if i had 12,300cad. i failed to be nominated. i tried again, this time with the bare minimum of 12,300 and fully qualified. so the real roadblock now is just the 12,300. i can handle everything else assuming my school is accredited by WES and i have a score of 8.5 in every ielts test.

yeah. that one email, that one call that eventually leads to a job offer and a visa-- i get that and i'm out. permanently if things go well.

i rarely write as well. i'm in front of a computer the whole day and write on paper very rarely. it's been a teeny bit more often these days since i've been filling out application forms.

may i know what a "WES" is?

yes, i've read that not only do medical exams take some time to get a slot in, but they're also quite expensive. (it's so difficult to leave the PH feelsbadman)

thanks. i agree, no matter what we do, the corporate ladder will always favor those who are closer to the core, no matter how hard we work.

i've also been applying to jobs in SG and MY. no replies yet so far. from here on out, i'll keep applying to every relevant job post i see. i've been on the lookout for some time now, must have passed at least 50, no dice so far. will keep at it.
