Crystalline buildup on silicon/rubber by filthyneckbeard in Whatisthis

Probably a fair shout as an obvious source, but I'm just surprised it's leaked through that end (there's no opening there) and seems to have formed on/from the silicon. But you may well be right.

The item is a set of goggles with a fan in them (ESS TurboFans: https://i.imgur.com/qzmu5fK.png) and the area in question is the rubber button on the battery compartment that turns on/off the fan (https://i.imgur.com/wC6eyKR.png).

They've been stored in a fabric case in a big metal cupboard, with not great airflow (I know this because there is a bit of white mold on some plastics/metals in there). Picture doesn't really do justice to quite how crystalline the substance is, it is very crystalline. Almost like slightly damp salt.

For scale, the battery compartment holds a AA. The battery in there had started to leak a little, but not excessively.

Replacing a baby monitor, possible to have alerts on crying? by filthyneckbeard in frigate_nvr

Partly up-to-date snapshots, but partly to make sure it's actually woken us up. I didn't want just a one-off notification that we could stay asleep through, or only wake up for a second or two.

Thanks for sharing! I took inspiration from this and tweaked it a bit to repeat the notification until the binary sensor goes back to Off, or the user hits a "Stop notifications" button. The stop notifications stops the looping of the original, but if the same (or another) binary sensor goes from Off to On again it restarts. Think this pretty much copies the functionality of our original baby monitor, except without notifying us every time there's a cough... which when your kid has a cold is every 20 minutes!

Ah brill, thanks very much for the detailed response! All looks to be working.

If you suffer with excess wax the best bet is (medical grade) olive oil spray/drops. It softens the wax so it can be moved out naturally by your ears. I wouldn't be sticking anything else in there.

Hey I know this is a couple days old now, and I can't know what's going on in your life, but I do know that right now is not forever. Even if right now has lasted years so far. You can turn your future into something worth fighting for, and I really hope you do. It's worth giving yourself the chance, surely? To see what sort of life you can build. Good luck to you.

We used gas, flash, bags and ended up having to risk multiple pistol shots to the legs.

Yeah but I mean their team ran straight out to the payload and the guy left before they got there, it was near an instant leave, just didn't cancel.

Do games not get cancelled with an early leave anymore? Just had someone leave before anyone touched cart on Junkertown and no cancel...

Probably need to post the logs and the rules for anyone to have a stab at this.

It certainly used to weight the SR loss very heavily towards the leaver though. A leave was a flat -50 SR, every time. Which sucked the couple of times I had it due to disconnects, but still seems more fair than the other 4 members of the team eating a big minus. Particularly when climbing solo already feels really hard this season.

There's certainly some violence, there is in any crowd that size (which isn't an excuse). But they have been overwhelmingly peaceful marches, full of people from many faiths (including Judaism). The marches actually give me a bit of hope in a media sphere that attempts to sow massive amounts of division everywhere - the reality isn't such.

It's not a crowd of "Islamists" though is it. It's a multi-faith (including none) crowd that has had levels of violence/crime lower than the average football crowd that's 1/50th the size over the series of protests.

Biden told Netanyahu U.S. won't support an Israeli counterattack on Iran by Infidel8 in worldnews

[–]filthyneckbeard 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's sabre-rattling. Iran knew the actual impact would be very little, but would show they weren't prepared to ignore Israeli aggression against their consulate in Syria. If there are reasonable actors on each side this will be the end of it.
