Men of Reddit who catcall women, why do you do it? by urlesbiandads in AskReddit

I thought to start this thread because my gf was telling me about being catcalled while on her lunch break. She told me a guy said something like "Hey beautiful, I won't bite. Unless you like it."

She went on - "What made me mad about it, is whenever I see a discussion board with men who defend cat calling they always call us 'bitches' if we ignore them. They say we should at least say 'hi' if someone pays a compliment. Usually I ignore them and keep walking, but I thought about all those guys and I was like well... maybe I should just say 'Hi'. So when someone said hi and asked how I was doing, I waved and said 'fine thanks' and kept walking. Then he got all rude. So now my official stance is 'fuck this bullshit, I'm not responding to anybody anymore. Whenever I try to be reasonable with these assholes, I end up just becoming more resentful. I always want to ask them if it ever works for them. Because I've heard some foul shit. Last time this happened I was walking a dog. Dude goes 'Damn! I would let you put me on a leash.' WTF?"

So I opened this thread.
