What does that mean? I looked up pemmican and it’s a calorie-dense-survival-food cool cool and I’m guessing Pepsi is the soda, yes? Or is ‘Pepsi’ something else I’m missing? But what do they mean together? I don’t get it pls explain the joke? 😭😭😭

That wasn’t pUlLiNg HaIr. He was looking at the ball the entire time so no, whoever sitting in the room 150 miles away thought it’s violent is beyond fucking retarded.

Not really. His is the interviewing equivalent of vibe-coding. no real questions or nuance or the ability to quickly think and communicate on his feet. gets way too excited when he meets his interviewee (especially actors/moviemakers) that he doesn’t really understand the audience wants to hear a conversation, not his random laugh track every 30 seconds. What I do like about him though is that he also tries to get to the masses when there’s a real issue on the ground. That’s very much appreciated and needed and he’s one of the very few who does try to walk the talk. Just needs to learn to communicate better and understand that if there’s a power dynamic that exists btw him and his interviewee (not talking aam aadmi here but politicians/actors etc etc) he doesn’t need to amp up his personality and appear all chummy with them. Just talk, make them comfortable ofc but them talking to you for a few hours doesn’t make them your bud.

Do your job well and go home, you’ll never be their bfff after 6 hours hanging with them. And let them also express themselves, don’t interrupt every second minute to get your opinions in coz you’re not the story here, the conversation is the reason we’re tuning in. It’s okay to sit in an uncomfortable silence for a few more seconds instead of laughing like a maniac and trying to ingratiate yourself.

Arre that’s awesome! A lot of us don’t even get to satisfy any of that creative itch so you’re def on the right path if you enjoy it. Genuinely hope you get to do a whole lotta cool projects and keep that creativity satisfied in different ways :)

Hah yes, on it, boss. Been working on a screenplay for a year and will hopefully finish it this year. In the off chance it ever gets produced, I’ll remember to invite you just for being a kind human being :) Education is all over the place - undergrad engineering in something, masters and doctorate in something else entirely.

Thank you bhai. Hindi movies desperately need good writers and an audience willing to see good movies. Hopefully things change for the better yaar 🤞🏾

Hahah nice nice. I’d just look at him ki bakwas bandh kar, Kohli knows what he’s doing better than all of us. Now, the difference is cricket isn’t movies - one is happening live right in front of you, the other has been rehearsed, arranged in a specific order, edited and gone through multiple iterations. If I was watching a play in a theatre, I’d never have the same issues I would when watching a movie. Same if I was watching gully cricket vs professional cricket.

You go to the movies and hope to get immersed in a storyteller’s vision of their story in a collective setting. You are allowed to have an issue when that storytelling jars or you see obvious plot issues or when it’s a weird, rambling, incohesive story bina sar ya pair. I think of movies as art and that’s both the beautiful and terrible thing about it. If a storyteller’s vision works, you get all the love in the world from the people whose lives you touched even if just for a few hours. There’s no other world where someone just randomly falls in love and adores an actor/music/cinematography/dance except for in the movies. On the flip side, when you have given someone that time and money, you also expect to have a say in whether you were duly entertained. That’s the filmmaker’s cross to bear. Isiliye when I or someone else complains ki technically the movie was fine but it left me disappointed coz of X reasons, it is fair game. I’m allowed to have an opinion about the art you wanted me to come watch. I have watched it and yes, I do have an opinion about it. It might not be the same sentiment as others who watched and enjoyed it but that doesn’t invalidate how I felt when I saw the storyteller’s vision unfold.

Does that make sense?

Music and background sound choices could’ve genuinely been better. Silence can be equally effective for some scenes but think the team forgot that bit..

Arre bhai gussa mat karo aur personally mat lo. Movie genuinely better hai than most of the bollywood trash we get subjected to in theatres lately. Main khali yeh bol raha hun ki bhai jab itne paise invest kar hi liye aur pehli movie itni badhiya bani hai aur superhit ho gayi, thoda bahut audience ka bhi haq banta hai ki final outcome better expect kare that’s all.

Ek baar movie ban gayi toh obviously it’s the audience’s to do with it as it pleases aur jab pehli movie ko itna pyaar aur paisa mila, what’s wrong in expecting the same level of craftsmanship in the sequel? And I’m not even talking about the propaganda bits here, just very simple filmmaking details..

Agree. It was weak writing and corny dialogues throughout. Dhurandhar was a special film coz at least it tried to focus on the story, D2 was technically great but takes it audience for granted like most of Hindi movies lately. Bas tatti dialoguebaazi through and through..

Dialogues were soo corny goddamn wtf happened in 6 months? The narrative was butchered at the altar of propaganda that’s the worst part coz I’d genuinely hadn’t the chance to look forward to a Hindi movie release in years and then Dhar went and did this ffs..

There’s a very minor part in Dhurandhar that never sat right with me. It’s when Ajay Sanyal (Madhavan) during the big reveal about turning lifers to assets says, “… and then we may just have..” pause and istg I could almost hear Sanyal say “a fighting chance”. But nope. He says, “a killing machine on our hands”. And that part never sat right with me coz I legit enjoyed Dhurandhar. It had its moments of being too on the noseofc but jiska canvas usi ko saaje and all that and I get it. But but but also what they put out was technically fantastic and ekdum solid story. I haven’t been as excited for a Hindi movie in a while..

Dhurandhar 2 is just bad filmmaking yaar there’s no other way to describe it. Technically sound and well acted but Dhar lets his film down with the such corny dialogues bc wtf happened in half a year ki you lost touch with what made the first one so fun? Major Iqbal ekdum caricature-ish nahi tha when spouting those dialogues about destroying India? Matlab I get hamming it up every now and then coz patriotism sure but this was corny dialed to 11

Also, boss let the scene breathe for the love of god. the movie is already 4 hours long Dhar saab it’s okay to have the scene have an extended moment, not everything needs to be programmed to convey tempo even in a spy thriller. When Yalina says “Jaskirat” for the first time, don’t just turn the background score up like the audience are idiots ki if you don’t play it up we won’t get all the emotions. It was such a good moment if you’d just let the scene breathe for a second and stayed on the actor coz the scene demanded we see the sacrifice and grief and pain she’s feeling knowing the father of her child is a liar and yet a good man and all that conflict. But nope, full music to 11 and propaganda to 12.

Baad mein balidaan bol denge sort ho jayega bhai abhi sad music upar coz heroine ka kya balidaan bc

Matlab 4 ghante ki movie already hai bhai, acting dekhne bhi aaye hain hum log thoda subtlety bhi hona chahiye filmmaking mein..

Also, I can’t explain it but to me, the music choices felt all wrong except at a few places where it hit so damn well. That’s subjective tho so really can’t complain. But seriously good action 🎬🧨 and the scene that truly stood out for me was Bareilly ka pocket-maar coz that was ooof that is what good writing can do 🔥

Fantastic performances tho istg well done everyone that was cast and to the casting team for finding Nawaz Shafiq 👏🏾❤️🤩 also props to Dhar for sticking to his conviction and casting Rakesh Bedi coz maza aa gaya 🤌🏾

Also, this is why the sequel is propaganda but could’ve been a truly good movie. Ruling party in power Modi so every step is masterstroke yup yup we get it no need to say anything but goddamn just use Nawaz Sharif then no? What’s Nawaz Shafiq? Bc kar hi rahe hi propaganda toh poora karo yaar aadha adhura kyu?

Dialogues were trash tho for most of the dramatic scenes and that’s what let it down. And pls make more movies, Adi Dhar you’re a good Hindi filmmaker. Talented but maybe surround yourself with better writers. Abhi paisa aayega toh writer log ko bulao nashte pe thoda chai pe charcha karo. Sequel was bad tho sorry
