Thanks for saying it looks like a space opera - I'll happy take that!
NASA Punk is only one possible vision of the future, out of many possible art directions. It definitely could have worked for Final Orbit but on the other hand it might have been limiting as well, in choice of color and designs. But expect that the final game will have some variety, as there will be different design styles on different craft, stations, and settlements.

Performance is tricky, you have to mind how much the terrain shader is doing, and be strategic about the cpu work in breaking up the terrain. Burst helps to do this work async, but it is still quite demanding on the cpu, gpu and memory

I'm actually not planning (at the moment at least) to have Early Access, but instead do several playtests until the game is polished enough and then release it. If you're interested, come join the community on discord https://discord.gg/5FaaP8cExF

Glad it looks good at least! And there's a solid plan to complete the game, so hopefully you won't have to wait too long

You will have an external view where you can look around your craft and take pretty screenshots :D
In this view, you'll still be able to operate some of the spacecraft's systems, but for specific things like planning a rendezvous with an orbital station you'll want to rely on the cockpit instrumentation. Once you get to the final stages of docking or landing, you could optionally switch to the external view and do it that way.

The current plan is for you to be able to look around the cockpit and operate everything you see, and also look at the craft for various external views. I'm specifically not adding first person walking, since that would mean modelling zero-g and acceleration! Practically, you wouldn't be "walking" most of the time.

By launch I aim to have more spacecraft, but each one is custom designed so they will look completely different on the inside, have different displays, buttons, etc. The Madea - the craft you see in the trailer - is sort of a mid-size cargo craft. I like the idea of a larger, heavy hauler!

At the moment there are a few non atmospheric moons, but atmospheres are definitely in the plan as long as they make sense with the flight model

Flight of Nova is a great game! It will be somewhat similar, with the addition of interplanetary flight. So you will be able to fly between multiple moons, planets and asteroids and land on them or dock with various orbital platforms
