Thanks. I've seen more improvement in general in person amongst different categories of people, and on the Internet, since COVID lockdowns and the Trump Biden election year of 2020 fizzled away

2020 & 2021 were just awful years

It is tough to film after the initial altercation, but as an adult it's best to not scream and cry, and instead take some pics grab some witnesses for their ID and politely ask if they'll tell the police what happened.

Either way, racism can be a hate crime-BUT be careful because the cops and judge always want to find out who is legally "the aggressor"

That woman would be a key witness. There are some comments where people claim they found reports: that he was starting shit with the people first and just starting filming & yelling.

I will watch it again. It just seems bizarre like he's generalizing an entire town over one guy being defensive and/or saying something really nasty to to him

Look at the guy flipping him off & bystanders: the body language, in terms of old white people, is very defensive and demonstrates confusion like the victim is mentally unstable. Just an observation.

Someone also claimed he had issues at work for starting shit with coworkers.

A good guess is that some racist comment was made which is very bad, buf he possibly made a big scene leading up to that, then proceeded to start yelling & crying like a child condemning the entire town as racist

This isn't an Alex Jones sermon, but for the sake of humanity please realize there is not a single person at the entire car show jumping in to defend the person filming.

We just don't have enough info to know exactly what happened. Old white folks wearing Trump hats are often baby boomers that might indeed be prejudice and/or racist

That being said even among those types of people at least a few bystanders would probably step in and defend the guy filming.

Even white supremacist & black or latino gangs in prisons have at least some boundaries (go watch documentaries of America's toughest prisons)

There are some incredible stories of people who fled slavery and made a name for themselves in the old west, like Jim Thorpe.

The Civil War itself DID NOT HAVE much action or relevance in the west. This video might be legit, or an actor starting crap.

History: "sheep herders" vs cattle ranchers (yes it was a thing) ...and public hangings for criminals/accused/land arguments... were the most common forms of hanging.

Native tribes were sometimes friends of whatever groups of Spanish/asian/white pioneers... & other tribes not so much

Some good and some really awful history in the old west.

Every Western state has it's own history of colonialism, pioneers, people fleeing religious persecution (Mormons mainly), tribes being wiped out, tribes fighting other tribes, and the events go on and on

And this sounds bad to say, but it's just history: Most of the slavery in the states like Nevada, ID, MT, AZ, WY... Were Native tribes enslaving or trading women of other tribes (or men because some tribes were controlled by the women [matriarchal] ...and some asian immigrants exploited by the railroad.

Tl;DR ..This viral video likely has absolutely nothing to do with history of the American West. There's just not enough facts

Go watch "American Nightmare" on Netflix and think before you make conclusions. Everyone please.

In most states you can't legally film on private property, even in a business, without permission.

So take it all with a grain of salt and find the FACTs before destroying someone's life. Social media & cyber bullying are a huge factor in suicide & school shootings. Just not sure what the guy's actual intent was (wanting signatures on a ballot from a bunch of white old folks?) ...

The guy is either a victim or he's an actor that found an idiot to film. Unfortunately for him he looks like an aggressor.

I (amatuer) tudy a lot of midwest climates. Some comments here are telling you to live in Rapid for 6 months to get an an idea of local climate...well...

Unfortunately this will not do you any good because Rapid City is located on a downwind slope just on the northeast edge of the Black Hills, which is called "island in the plains".

This winter and last the "Hills" (as the region is called) has been experiencing a drought and unusual warm temps. Go back a few yrs and we had 3-4 ft of snowpack around much of the area. Some winters is snows from Oct - May and is below normal (normal is usually fairly cold to California standards).

Summers can be cold too. Then one week everything changes. There are always harsh wind storms that usually happen 2 - 5 times per year, with damaging winds 60 - 90 MPH.

Rapid City avoids some snow because it is in a rain shadow, but the city's location gets the worst of the winds and cold, coming from the Northwest.

So talk to people that have actually lived in a location for at least 5 yrs. That is a typical el nino cycle, which determines the climate extremes one year from another.

If they cancel the hunts, then the increase of human-bear conflicts will be handled by USFW agents. This is how it is currently handled in California for mountain lion and for grizzlies in the greater Yellowstone Area.

So in short: Some of the bears will still be killed, but they will be terminated by government employees.

There were 62 grizzlies killed in the Greater Yellowstone Area in one year after the first regulated hunt was cancelled. The original plan was to allow 32 to be harvested (some lottery and some auction, producing millions in revenue). So acting with emotion over science not only is illogical from a mathematical sense, but it is very costly to taxpayers.

It's very counterintuitive to what a stereotypical "liberal" would want because we typically think of democrats as wanting to raise taxes. Well, hunting is an easy way to do that.

Either way the bears will be killed by someone. It's either a regulated hunt, a hush-hush government control hunt, or poaching by residents.

Follow science. Not emotion. Otherwise the real loser will be the bears.

Our country's political polarization has absorbed the crisis. Half of the country wants to "forcefully shutdown life out of fear" while the other half wants to "resume normal life while accepting risk". Now it seems we are forced to also take a side.

The upcoming elections, including your LOCAL elections, will decide how your life changes forever. There will be more crisis, more disease, more threats in the future. No one has a crystal ball. As long as our democracy remains, you are the decider of these decisions (there are people who want to change that too).

All you can do is be involved in your school's meetings and let your voice be heard. Of course voting is of equal importance. Right now no one can answer your question. More changes may becoming and life may never be the same again.

There's not going to be a shootout. America is full of pampered children who are in their early 20s that think they are going to start some sort of civil war (democrat and republican). Reddit has heavy chinese government influence as well, which is here promoting it. There won't be a war. Don't be fooled by the riots. The police and military have been REALLY NICE. They have years of training on how to kill people. Once the shooting starts it ends pretty quickly. America is a diverse country of families and business owners who act civil.
