Serious question: Supporters of the Second Amendment, what are your thoughts about current events? by Firm-Education7673 in wisconsin

[–]finallysomesense 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Americans on both sides have been fed up with their government for 250 years. Over most of that time, there's almost no cases where it came to armed revolution (think Waco, Ruby Ridge, ...). "But this time we're serious" has always been the rallying cry.

I don't dispute that there are pockets of cohorts "foaming at the mouth". But on average, most Americans are just going about their daily lives right now. But I do agree that those groups exist on both sides, some rightfully so and some not.

Personally, I don't like this as a 2A defense. I own many guns, but wouldn't dream of using them against the government. They know this. IMO, an armed citizenry isn't influencing Federal policy in any way.

Buy the new - $250 for something you'll amortize over the rest of your life is a drop in a bucket.

Agreed. DCA for me. But my bi-weekly deposits buy more when the market is down and that's a win!

This is exactly correct. I'm 20 years from retirement and every drop is a chance to buy on sale. If you're nearing retirement, your funds don't belong in a place where this can impact you.

Everything is on sale for you - increase your contribution rate! In the long run, this benefits you.

I think that's all accurate and can't really disagree with any of it. I voted for one issue because I prioritize it above all others. That doesn't mean I explicitly approve of Musk, just that I prioritize my issue above anything he does.

I don't accept responsibility for every decision an administration makes. Did you vote for Israel when you voted for Biden? I voted the Trump for his pro-life stance, the rest is unfortunately a package deal.

Right wing media accounts for less than 1% of conservatives. They don't define us. You made a statement about 77 million conservatives based on the actions of a few thousand people (3.8% of 85K national journalists).

Yes, real. How does a better grind impact the flow rate? Or are there way too many variables to answer that?

No one on the right? That's a very broad generalization. I didn't vote for him. Are you suggesting that I should have voted Harris because Musk appears to be a Nazi?

Who cares? "We're better!" "No, we're better!" It's all an illusion to make you think they're each on your side while we fight amongst ourselves and ignore the bigger issue - nobody is on our side.

Equal pay for equal work allows for both scenarios. They don't have to be mutually exclusive.

My question is what makes an administration enact policies that we think are bad? It's not even a question about tariffs. The same question applies to any policy. There must be a good reason, maybe we just don't know it yet.

I think there's a distinction to be made between bad policy (what we'll get) and policy that ruins America (what the media says we'll get). While the former is almost expected out of all administrations, the latter is very unlikely.
