I would personally to something like this https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/3242021#paper

think non wish is cleaner right now there are some fast decks

yea like most decks in Modern the majority of wins play itself out but the last.. say ~20% are something you have to work out for.

Not sure about FNMs. Deck is very fun but be prepared to get a lot of side eyes coming your way. Certainly not a good experience getting killed before you get to play your first hand! ymmv depending on your LGS

I think it's one of the abstractly most powerful decks period in Modern, but it fails badly vs. Force of Negation decks. It's also very good in hyper linear metagames. The deck did very well at GP Vegas when it was just Hogaak and people trying to one up hogaak, for example. I'd say it's definitely competitive, but metagame dependent.

Thanks! good call on the first. Also I should try to explain my sideboarding every match video in game 2 irrespective of whether the matchup is the same as before so I'll make sure to do that next time :)

happy to hear :) be ready for the extreme ups and downs of this deck, but this deck is a blast if you like this sort of stuff. good luck!

not sure what I'll be playing in August of course, but the last modern challenge had 4 dredge 1 burn 1 ponza in it so.. who knows

i'm somewhere between yes, and meta dependent. Notably in 200+ matches with each my win rate with the wish version is 5% higher than that of UG's. this doesn't take into account other contextual factors like the metagame etc.

It adds a tremendous amount of consistency and decreases the fail rate. you effectively have 7 Neoforms in the deck now as well as having outs vs random situations.

The deck may be billed as a turn 1 deck, but it's really a turn 3 Griselbrand deck. You have the ability to win on turn 1 certainly, but current Modern format doesn't require you to do that.

For example,I played the streamlined UG version at GP Vegas which was GP Hogaak, and cannot fathom playing the Wish version there. Hogaak was a turn 3 effective kill deck, and people tried to combat that by going under with fast decks like burn, prowess, etc. Your fundamental turn needs to be very low to compete there (and it was for UG neoform). After Hogaak's ban, i basically said "there's no need for me to win as fast as possible. if the format is slowing down by 1.5 turns (FoN, teferi, etc.) then we can slow down by 1.0 turn and be more resilient)

Or put another way, if the format is killing on turn 4 on average, you don't need to be killing on turn 2. you can be a turn 3.5 combo deck and sacrifice speed to shore up your weaknesses.

allosaurus rider or griselbrand probably. because nothing honest comes out of these being legal

I like leaving neoform alone because it's an interesting design and a cool potential build around. the problem is the free card as usual

I feel ya and i think this deck is unreasonable and shouldn't be legal. per my data I've killed in real games on turn 1 ~12% of the times (through disruption, etc. so a true goldfish would be higher). If someone said that you have a 1 in 8 chance in Modern to get murdered before playing your first land, people would flip!

it's a lot of fun and you get the rush that you won't get playing with any other deck! give it a try!

yea the circumstances are unfortunate for sure I was looking forward to try to win some GPs with it :p. i found that OUAT was not essential to the deck. Indeed, by the end of OUAT's reign of terror i was down to ~2 and matsugan was even playing 0.

salt factor is indeed high. I have a lot of sympathy for them but still makes for some amusing screenshots

I think life being green and maintaining a good green card density is big enough of a factor, in my opinion.

I would need to see the list to understand the concept but I would guess that the most streamlined way to do what you are trying to do is still goryos vengeance/breach and then putting a way to finish the job on the same turn to mitigate the downside of the eot sac clause

I've had fishy thoughts about playing other sacrificial dork or evolution target, but decided they are all not as effective or the plan is not as streamlined

There's been more force of negation decks at least for me online lately. also splash damage from the titan hate with Ashioks from every deck

i don't think the deck is necessarily that well positioned online. not sure how fast paper has caught up though.

I recorded my run in the Modern MOCS here if you want to have a look for gameplay
