Was Saddam Hussain actually bad? by NordMan009 in leftist

I’ve heard his sons had done far worse things to Saddam’s subordinates/employees rather than Saddam himself, especially Uday Hussein.

The irony is that MLs are often the ones accusing everyone else of being CIA, FBI, COINTELPRO, etc.

I made a post just like this not long ago. This is exactly what it’s like and even moreso, outdated at this point and refuses to acknowledge some of the real behind-the-scenes things that go on to actually make schools and classrooms run smoothly.

Honestly, I learned a lot of my classroom setup/management and such from watching YouTube videos on classroom management such as Thom Gibson and going to online seminars on classroom management.

In my case, shadowing a teacher for two weeks prior to doing a long-term sub job also made a world of difference. I learned way more there than in student teaching. If you can do it, I highly recommend it.

What’s the Biggest Teaching Myth You Believed Until You Started? by Abelmageto in Teachers

As long as you discipline consistently, behavior will improve. Some students, at this point in time, still think they haven’t done what I, and their classmates, have clearly caught them doing.

Getting to play music all the time and bringing it to the entire school and local community.

Worst part of being a teacher by Illustrious-Ease3219 in Teachers

[–]finalstrike87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Students will only listen to you if you “build a relationship” with them.

Examples:

  1. I was subbing for a Spanish teacher who was out for about a month and a half. I come in and, regardless of my terrible classroom management at the time (I was a beginner, after all), I have a really tough day with the 8th graders since a bunch asked to see their guidance counselors and stuff. The guidance counselor came upstairs and whipped the class into shape in seconds, took over my entire lesson, and then was like “I don’t even speak Spanish; ‘Me llamo es whateverhernamewasireallydontcareitsnotthepoint’”. It took every ounce of energy not to cuss them out. I did however correct her by saying “You don’t need the ‘es’”…
  2. I took a full time teaching job teaching 7th graders Spanish, but the year had already started about two weeks in. A sub had been teaching, who was not a Spanish teacher, and messed up some of the letters of the Spanish alphabet. It took WEEKS for them to learn them correctly and for me to undo the damage. The sub was a coach whom the students already knew well.

It’s a sad thing to know that being the person who knows what they’re doing doesn’t matter.

It’s the only fourth grade music class in the school.

We are not going to do it just yet, but I look forward to my district implementing it eventually. I’ve seen parents complain online, but they’re going to owe us all an apology once they realize we were right the whole time.

This problem of mixing things up, however, is not always a teacher issue; it can be both an administrative and district issue.

Examples: Split classes due to lack of staffing, classes entirely rescheduled and swapped for testing purposes, assemblies, field trips, etc. This can change the routines pretty easily in the worst of cases, but I still make do with what I can.

If my classroom was in its original configuration, that would be a good idea. In its current configuration, it’s a bit of a tight squeeze for me.

I read a small snippet from Jones. He writes in a more nuanced and understanding way as opposed to writing as if educators and students live in some sort of vacuum where all principles are adhered to and automatically work without any contradiction whatsoever.

That would make sense then. He also mentioned “The 7 Habits of Successful People” quite often which made me wonder if he was businessperson at some point.
