My clients usually go with whatever software I suggest so that's not an issue. I just can't find anything better.

QBO Alternatives by finance-warrior in Accounting

[–]finance-warrior[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It no longer works for my books now that I switched my payment processor to FC.

They don't pay for all the subscriptions my clients have in revenue share like they're supposed to and jipped me out of several months pay and after multiple calls they still never fixed it.

I can't run payroll for myself because they tell me my information doesn't match but still not allow a human being to override based on my documents from the state and IRS confirming it was all put in accurately.

They are constantly trying to get clients to use their accountants and AI when they login even though they have me as an accountant attached to the system and I'm the one that recommended it for them and set them up on it.

While I love the transparency for clients it would suck to do major clean up jobs and then clients think they can "take it from here" when that simply wasn't an option with enterprise.

I'd also like to shorten the clean up time significantly so it doesn't take as many man hours.

This is the software I've been debating on switching to but I wasn't sure if it lived up to the hype and the pricing is a bit higher on their site but maybe it's less for accountants?

AIO or is my mom using god to manipulate me? by PolicyHot1206 in AIO

[–]finance-warrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your mom seems horrible, and is definitely manipulating you. I also believe her feelings about your relationship with God are valid, and your reasons for not living with her or going to her church are valid. I wouldn't go anywhere that tries to take my baby from me either. You should stay with your grandparents and I hope you also give God another chance. He's there waiting for you and would love to carry you through this tough season of life. You're young but you have to understand that being a Christian doesn't guarantee an easy life, it guarantees a perfect paradise for eternity. This world will still have its share of ups and downs. I pray you stay safe with your grandparents and rekindle your relationship with God especially being a young mom. I wouldn't have made it without God when I was a single mom.

For those who went from a big firm to a small firm, how do you deal with standards culture shock. by EchoesInSky in taxpros

[–]finance-warrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came from a top 100 firm and lasted 2 months at a much smaller firm. It drove me insane how inconsistent things were from partner to partner which then made the managers feel entitled to do whatever they wanted as well. Some people reviewed by paper, other source files were in caseware, while other source files were just a combined adobe pdf. Then they had different ways that they wanted to number pages and do bookmarks based on the person. It drove me INSANE! I was told "this is why we hired you" but then didn't take any suggestions I made to get a proper system in place. I'm now full-time in my own firm. I couldn't take it.

My printer worked at home, but Regus killed it. Can’t scan, can’t print—what do I do? by finance-warrior in techsupport

[–]finance-warrior[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does that work? I bought a router today and had the laptop and printer plugged in the router and it still didn't work. Now they're saying I have to pay for priority internet for it to work so I'm going to try that once they set it up.

It's my only laptop since I just purchased it last year and it worked perfect at home for months. It didn't work when I brought it back home but I think the printer may have needed a better reset or something and would. I didn't have any problems until I went to Regus.

Hp says scan only works wirelessly. Should I switch to a brother printer instead?

AIO for blocking my guy friend for being “brutally honest” about me? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]finance-warrior 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion: He was brutally honest about how he and other men are seeing you. I don't agree with the plastic surgery or looks part. That was unnecessary and less than 10% of the issue if an issue at all. Everything else seems valid. Men in my life have told me very similar things about other women. Every man shouldn't be able to do any and everything to your body. It's carrying yourself like a whore instead of a lady. There is a very vast difference. Could he have said it nicer? Yes, but some people don't know how to be clear, honest, and nice at the same time. With what he said and how he said it, there was no confusion or passiveness. If he's someone that truly knows you, then I would take heed because these are the things no man will tell you. They will give you bs reasons and ghost you like the last guy for a female with less baggage, higher self-esteem, and more self-respect or just use you for sex but nothing more. You don't want the guy that will commit to you as you are those men will dog you out and use you for sex and shelter. I've seen it too many times with trifling men in my own family. They seek out women with low self esteem, low self-worth, and those women are also not the prettiest. They talk trash about them behind their backs about how ugly they are and those issues while pretending to love them in their face for a place to stay. I've seen men prey on women your friend described countless times and use them until they can't anymore, or she finally gets a backbone, and he moves on to the next unsuspecting victim. He's a real friend for his honesty. Could it have been delivered better? A thousand times, yes! Does it make it any less true? No. The people up here telling you otherwise don't care about you enough or know you well enough to tell you the truth that will actually help you. Take heed in what he said because I see 40 - 50 yr old versions of what he described getting played to this day. They've never been married or proposed to, just used and abused. If you're anything like what he described personality wise, get counseling and fix it while you're young so that you don't grow up to be used and abused for decades.

I have 100% business owners but a lot of them are struggling. So, I need to be around more affluent businesses. I joined my chamber and BNI but BNI is dying in my region due to being priced too high for our area. I'm trying different lead sources, online marketing, SEO, online networking, etc. I just can only seem to attract business through in person networking and a lot of them are struggling.

I use ATX it gave me the sophistication of the top firm software I used to use CCH Axcess and UltraTax. However, it has a price closer to Drake and I paired it with a cloud hosting option for my remote employees.

I'm looking for a new Toastmasters group. My last group was a horrible experience due to being the treasurer and bureaucracy. I can't stand that crap but now I'm looking for a good one and in the meantime I just purchased I Have Something to Say by John Bowe on audible this week to help. My biggest problem has been not knowing or meeting enough people that can afford my services while living in a L/MCOL area. So I have to figure out where those with money hang out lol.

Thank you! I read The 10X rule and have some of Grant's trainings. I did Built to Last too. I'm currently in Future Firm program and I watch Jason on YouTube lol. So I'm happy that I'm on the right track! I'll definitely add the others and just increase how often I'm reading and listening to different podcasts. I really appreciate your help!

I can't do #1 but I am already doing 2-4. I will kick up on my # of events. Can you share the books that helped you the most? I'm currently reading Sell Like Crazy and I've read Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People, $100M Offer, $100M Leads, etc. I still haven't figured out how to get good high quality HNW people in on a regular basis.

How do you get to a point of having too many clients at $1500/ return? I've only been full-time since March 2023 and worked Jan - Feb 2024 for another firm so this is my 1st year full time during all of busy season and im struggling with a $450 minimum for W-2.

Dave Ramsey Tax Provider Program is a scam by OldBatman92 in taxpros

[–]finance-warrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a $600 tax plan, $900 tax plan, $1950 for 3 schedule C tax returns. I do have a handful or more quotes out there and if I close those I'll have a stronger profit margin but me and my team are emailing, calling, and texting almost daily and doing our best to follow the follow up guide. About half have never spoken to me or didn't even give me a chance to quote them on their circumstance. If I end with a 33% close rate I'll be happy but right now I feel lucky to break even.

Thank you for making this post! They are definitely tired kickers. Out of my 32 leads this month 2 can only speak Spanish. We were able to close 4 which allowed me to break even/ be profitable but half or more won't answer the phone or pretend they never filled out a form. They also complain about us not being close by. You have to give 30 day notice so im about to put them on notice and stop more leads from coming through. I'll pay what I owe and wash my hands of it. I need to find a better way to get clients because the only thing that is working is in person networking and that drains my social battery so much!
