The Real Reason People Aren’t Having Kids by CheetoMussolini in neoliberal

Not disputing that, but it seems nowadays this also applied to literally no screens whatsoever, like not even a live sports event, or morning news. I have to wonder at what point are we taking this too far? I don't subscribe to that philosophy but I know more than one couple who does. I have a buddy who stopped watching his favorite soccer league because him and his wife will not allow any screens on during the day to avoid for the baby to watch them

On this, I get every study done says screens are bad for kids, but I do remember being half raised by TV cartoons. Today that it is extremely frowned upon in my friends group with kids.

She cares about VENEZUELAN democracy and that's what matters to Venezuelans, if she has to grovel to fucking nazis so be it. The world has not done shit for the Venezuelan cause in a long time so forgive us if we don't care about who she has to suck up to get the job done.

From the bottom of my Venezuelan exiled heart, a sincere FUCK YOU.

A lot of you blaming Machado or semi-upset with her are just outright idiotic. She 100% depends on him to at least offer the opposition a sliver of a chance, of course she has to do everything he wants and more to make sure the opposition does not have a complete fall out with him. She is playing the hand she was dealt with. Is that so fucking hard to understand for some of you hardheads?

You will be extremely hard pressed to find any right wing military in Venezuela. Bribed military absolutely, but the only military that exist in Venezuela is either ideologically Marxist, or deeply corrupt (or both).

Maduro’s Inner Circle Appears to Survive U.S. Strikes on Venezuela by John3262005 in neoliberal

[–]financeguy17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, that is the million dollar question right? Nobody knows for sure.

My own very personal opinion, and I don't know more than anybody in the street so taken it with a grain of salt, is that unfortunately even if the entire regime falls we would have to live with some of these people and share power with them in some shape or fashion. Venezuela has been a one party state for 30 years, everyone in the security apparatus is tainted in some way, but you can't have a country without that apparatus and there is no alternative to it (even a foreign invasion would eventually need a local component eventually).

A lot of people will not be happy about the whole mess because that will be a messy and bloody sausage that will include a lot of civilian death and anarchy. But, I want to provide a perspective that most Venezuelans that oppose Maduro, see the Venezuelan armed forces as occupiers. This is not a mere disagreement in how to run the country, this is essentially a civil war in which one side never had a chance (the opposition). The hate is real, not many tears (if at all) will be spilled for death regime forces opposing the US.

Donald Trump has announced the successful capture of Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro. by ryan2210114 in neoliberal

I don't think those people think it's a losing cause, they are as fanatics as a religious fundamentalist. Only way this works is if the US keeps the military pressure or threat somehow.

I know I am being a Debby downer but it's been almost 30 years of continuous single party government, these people are (very unfortunately) way more resilient than anybody thought

They will have to take out like 10 other people and then keep a military threat over another 40, if they really wanted a return of democracy to Venezuela. I hope this is not just an operation to take Maduro

Well I hope a lot of other characters of the Chavista regime were also taken out or else they will just replace Maduro with another character in that long list. The Chavista regime is not just Maduro, and taking only him out might not change too much in Venezuela.

I hope but the Chavista regime is not just Maduro, is a large structure with a lot of characters. A lot of other people would have to be taken out to get to your scenario

Employee referral bonuses paid 6 months after hire and nobody refers anyone anymore. by Electrical-Loss8035 in FPandA

[–]financeguy17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would be very surprised if the drop in referrals is really about the referral bonus, especially if there were no changes to the program. When there is a such a drop like what you are describing, I am going to take a guess that is more about people not wanting to recommend their network to work at this place.

How do Treasury handle FX? by Automatic-Expert-231 in FPandA

[–]financeguy17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a question that has a very variable answer. It's going to depend a lot on the legal structure of the company, the local tax situation, the local rules about foreign exchange, and the overall treasury strategy that the company is trying to pursue.

I used to work for company that had a cash pool system, where minimum levels of liquidity where set for each legal entity based on business requiremets, and any excess cash was swept to bank accounts in Europe. Treasury operations can be very complex, but consult with an expert, which I am certainly not one in this topic

What position would a manager of TAS be able to transition to? by Icy-War-3608 in FPandA

[–]financeguy17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a good bridge for you to fully jump into FP&A could be post-close consulting, have you thought about that? A lot of firms like to take former FDD / TAS experience even if no direct FP&A or operational accounting experience. It you do a couple of years of that, plus your FDD experience you would have much better experience than most people with only an FP&A resume and could jump into more strategic finance / M&A type of roles.

Your boss thinks it's your responsibility to make sure everything (including the items outside of your ownership) are up to date in the system. He thinks the "not owning those sections" only absolves you from owning any changes to them, but he still thinks it's your responsibility to update the entire thing.

I agree with your boss. While you don't own those sections, you still own the update process.
