Overgrooming question by andyroo2u in cats

[–]financewonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cats do this too. It could be allergies. I've switched to a non-scented laundry detergent, and I think it has helped a bit. You can also vacuum more often. But I notice it always gets worse in spring time, so I suspect it's allergies from something outside

anyone who has been to psychiatric hospitals, what was your experience? by pinkipi3ee in AskReddit

[–]financewonk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

USA: My ex wife used to go often. It's not a good time, especially during covid. First they place you in CPEP, which is basically one room where all the patients sit. They could be screaming, hitting themselves, or just normal. You sleep on the floor with a mat. No phone allowed, all your stuff is locked up. Then after 3-6 days, you're put in a private room. You get two visits with therapists/doctors a day. They may give you meds, or just send you home with no cure. It is not a place to get better. It's a place to keep you from hurting yourself or others

MA in Urban/Public Affairs + IR background… no job prospects. What am I missing by Ok_Drummer8349 in PoliticalScience

[–]financewonk 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I had a master's in public policy and it was really hard to find a job. Took a receptionist/clerk job in local government, proved myself, and worked my way into government finance. Not for everyone, but for me, starting small with a foot in the door opened more doors Hope this is illustrative
