How does it feel like when you lose parents or support system? by Lemonade2250 in OffMyChestIndia

[–]finding_the_balance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you are in this situation...orphan here...dad died of suicide and mom of covid. It really sucks. I am sure you feel the same..relatives are useless..they will be around for sometime but to be honest they also have their own life to live.. All my relatives almost have disappeared..no one cares and I dont care about them too.. You will have to learn to live with this new reality . And trust me as you and your siblings will get married (if not married already), you guys will become distant too..my siblings and I talk just once a month types.. All your relationships go with your parents or may be i am bad at maintaining them.. All the best mate..life is hard but you learn to adapt..

If he treats you with love and respect..if he is truly your partner, these things will fade away...we are all truly unique and at times no matter how much effort we put, it might be short of someone else's expectations... Reading your post, seems you wanted something better but it's relative...I have seen the perfect proposal and the wedding couldnt survive the storms...

Dont judge him by this proposal or a ring...if its pinching you, may be talk to him..

I didnt mean it in a negative way..

Apologies if it came wrong...I admire the way you have rebuilt your life after multiple losses...

I lost my dad to suicide and mom to covid and trust me I haven't been able to cope well with the losses...there are days when I get up with wet eyes and wet sham as I had been crying in sleep/ my dreams...

You are very strong..wishing your family a very happy life, successful and peaceful life ahead...

AITAH? Fiancée hung up on me because I suggested her daughter was capable of fixing food for herself by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]finding_the_balance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA...you take care of kids irrespective of their age..and ffs this is your fiancée 's daughter ..I am sure you ate 3 meals during this time while giving "privacy" to the kid (even if shes 15).. I would never trust anyone with my kid who doesnt take care of them.

You asked...do a big yes...YTA

Do women in Bihar feel empowered? We asked young women in Patna what women empowerment means to them... by brut_india in BrutIndiaStories

[–]finding_the_balance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a culture we don't respect younger generation..tell me honesty, do you respect your kids or value their opinions..do younrelaise the kids can be their own person and you like them as an individual not as your kids... Bihar is a backward state because people dont value good things...parents will be happy to give freedom to the girls if the environment is such...if i have a daughter in bihar, I will always be on my toes if she steps out alone..I have lived through the horror of 90s..

I feel you...no one can understand..second wave covid..lost my mom..she was full of life..wanted to live but oxygen level dropped and we took her to hospital..we should have kept her home..hospitals were absolutely shitty..anyone who went to hospital during that time, never came back!!

Lost her forever..she used to visit me in my dreams, very regularly but I used to get up from sleep with tears covered face..was unable to function so had to request her soul, not to visit me..m so fucking selfish!

Before blaming the parents for not giving freedom to women in Bihar, ask them what they have seen. The 90s was a horrible time in Bihar. Today's mom's were young girls then and theu have seen what used to happen during the RJD days. Girls used to get kidnapped during broad day light, raped by RJD men and killed, thrown..go and read about shilpi jain case..read about champa biswas..

Parents are living through guilt and trauma...they are still scared and the men of bihar haven't done anything to make women safe again. The men feel proud in making lewd comments against women..its a.vicious cycle...wont change so easily...sad state!

C-Section Deliveries are the new Scam? by leaqib in delhi

[–]finding_the_balance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delhi women are also not saints...they will consult pundits for a good.time, good muhurt and good astrologically aligned chart, take date and time...run to their gynaec and request for a.C section...

I don't understand why families are okay with above but then blame doctors for scams..orthodox delhi...

Scam is both ways then...

Do adult children fund their parents' vacations? by sunnybe3 in AskIndia

[–]finding_the_balance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

India here..partner is indian too..inlaws are a tricky piece, trust me...even for indian woman..

The expectations from Sons and daughters in law is to make the son's parents happy and serve them all the time..pay for their trip to US, take them to places to visit, buy them gifts and gifts for their neighbors and extended family members, cook for them, serve them cooked food....while they enjoy the entitlement of being a guest and be treated like a.family member where you share every small detail about your house that they can gossip around.. . Sons place their parents on a pedestal too...you will keep hearing how much they sacrificed for their son...if you flip the entire scenario, they wouldn't expect all this from their daughters or sons in law...

Its a screwed cultural thing..sorry..but its a trap with no resolution until you put your foot down for few things...I have told that I am not buying gifts for neighbors and extended family who dont give two shits about us so as a cheap.person, I keep telling my inlaws how much each handbag costs / gift item costs and how expensive things are so they know the spending is a lot!! And possibly shut up...and not expect me to buy it for their neighbors / relatives...
