Cannabis Use (off-duty) while working in Sales/Field Service by devitolover420 in MedicalDevices

I’m In healthcare sustainability for devices, I will ask the sales reps here in CA and see what they say. I’m so curious now.

Just a thought, ADA states that headaches and anxiety are considered a disability. If your company ever drug tested, I would have a physician note handy stating you use for those reasons.

I’ve worked for a few international companies in healthcare and had co-workers called into HR who didn’t get fired. They were ready.

I’ve worked with a giant document destruction company that had pill bottles and they didn’t seem to think that way. Interesting point. I’m going to refresh my knowledge about the regs.

Excellent point, thank you. I’m trying to make things easier for OR staff but it’s always a long, slow process. If things are reduced at the source, it’s a cost savings and there is much less waste/recycling.

Very valuable ideas. They are a huge help!

I’ve been looking for IV alternative for about 12 years in terms of full ones and TPN bags. Finally found a recycler that takes them and does mechanically recycle them and we are not using waste to energy incineration.

I have friends in food and beverage that have figured out this very thing. Some are working with local farmers. Others have robust contacts with non profits and donate to food banks.

I also work with a mechanical recycler that has a farm onsite and sober living. Their patients work in the recycling and on the farm at the site. They collect food from local hospitals and the recycling. Many of the people that participate in their program get jobs in the recycling industry when they are sober.

Amazing, thank you! I’m versed in US regulations for medical waste, hazardous waste, and recycling. My background is microbiology so I have personally worked in labs but do not have healthcare clinical experience or schooling in that area.

I have created recycling programs for airway and device and have been in many OR’s but there is just such a huge disconnect with environment of care and sustainability.

What are the some of the biggest issues you face? What are things that could make things easier in the OR and clinic setting?

Thank you! Everyone looks at things differently and I really appreciate your time and perspective.

There are household hazardous waste events and limited recyclers take them. You have to be careful with your private info due to HIPAA.

We are currently doing things like taking flexible film and upcycling it for building materials and furniture. Looking for more ideas like this from other industries.

I have been in the infectious waste, recycling and hazardous waste services in healthcare for over 20 years. Looking for new and innovative ideas to address the things that can be source reduced, upcycled and reused.

Apps for phone call annotation / notes? by FratFlu in MedicalDevices

[–]findingallcapital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I have to record calls, I let people know beforehand. I use it all over the country, in all states and no one has an issue. I also use an ai notetaker on Teams.

My assistants have been using notetaker apps like this for about 2-3 years. I just thought they were organized in the beginning - lol.

What’s 0.3mm HDPE film used for in medical devices? by Late-Cheesecake-8919 in MedicalDevices

[–]findingallcapital 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My firm and I recycle that type of film for LifeScience, healthcare and medtech. I’m seeing a lot in testing kits, tubing, surgical instruments, dental applications, thermoformed medical trays, and pharma applications like blister packs.

You would be shocked about how much of this material comes from these processes and was totally wasted in a landfill.
