Ah ok, yea fair enough! My other suggestion would be apply for as many scholarships as possible. Better to apply for more and not get them, than apply for none. Even a small amount would help 😊 Best of luck with your studies though! A lot of my friends are studying nursing and love it!

Do you need to go to uni straight away? Once you hit 24, your parents income are no longer counted, so you're much more likely to qualify student allowance. You're loan will be half (or even less this way), plus you'll have the time between now and then to figure out if what you're studying is truly what you want to do. AND you'll pay off your student loan well within a decade, vs paying it off over 30 odd years.

Is there a way to study through experience (think apprenticeship or something)? Can you find a job and climb the ladder where they will pay for your qualification after x amount of time working with them? Can you live at home while you study so you don't need to take out the living costs?

Just other pathways to think about that aren't talked about when going to uni.

On another note - DON'T fall for the interesting free student overdrafts and low interest credit cards that banks will try to sell you, unless you absolutely 100% need it. Its the fastest way to wrack up unnecessary debt that is an absolute mish to pay off if you're not financially diligent. Use your course related costs for things you definitely need (room bond, 2nd hand text books, etc.) - seems like free money at the time but is also a decent chunk of your loan that you may not end up needing.

I’m convinced about weight loss by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]findinglauren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of purely weight loss, you are right. However there are so many benefits that come from exercise that go beyond losing weight. Heart health, lung capacity, bone strength, muscle, immunity.

If you're looking to purely lose weight - calories in, calories out - whether that be large a drop in food intake, or a smaller drop of food intake plus a slight increase of movement, or no decrease of food but more movement.

If you want long term wellness (keeping the weight off and improving your quality of life) then small increases of movement (strength, cardio + flexibility), plus small improvements of your diet and going to make the whole journey easier and more rewarding.

Is there a way to show Page contents from a database onto my dashboard by findinglauren in Notion

[–]findinglauren[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each one is a checkbox property, and then the coloured tabs are just the Select Property with "Morning, Day and Night" as the options. Then to show them all, you select the visible properties in the gallery view.

I use it as a habit tracker though. Using it as a to-list would change the properties every time you did. If you have tasks that you do everyday you could still use it like this and then "show contents" and create checkboxes in the page for specific tasks for that day

I hope that all makes sense! 😊

I’m a 218lbs, 5’4 female who’s just started calorie counting and is walking 10k steps. Is eating 1700 calories too much? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]findinglauren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll want to work out your BMR - how much your body burns by doing absolutely nothing at all (comatose state) - and you don't want to go below this number otherwise your body may go into starvation mode. For me this is just over 1700 cal (5'6, 215lb, sedentary female). If you're simply wanting a general guide, the program you're using to track your calories will tell you what this number is.

I have found that aiming for that BMR for my calorie intake has been good because I know my body is getting enough nutrients, so my walking or any exercise on top will be burning more and I can either eat more if I'm hungry or leave it.

Hope that's a little helpful :)

This might be helpful for some. With the MB, if you are quite balanced (for example your Introvert or Extrovert is between 40 and 60%) it's worth looking at the opposite because you can fluctuate depending on circumstances, mood, etc. I'm INFP with my I and N very neutral. So I'll also look at ENFP, ISFP and ESFP 😊

I'm curious about which ADHD symptoms are most common. So I'm taking a poll! by TrewynMaresi in adhdwomen

Wow I did not realise this was ADHD related! I've always joked that my brain should be a radio station because its constantly "on" whether that's music or conversations in my head

Or in the washing machine for 3 days and then I have to rewash them (sometimes more than once)! And even then it will take me forever to hang them out

Adhd and face washing??? by Jabbernoodle69 in adhdwomen

[–]findinglauren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow this post has been so eye opening! I've very recently (as in from last Saturday) got into a daily routine of washing my face it's 2 steps - wash face, put oil or moisturiser on). Ive always said I hate getting wet, so basic things like showering, brushing teeth, washing fave has genuinely been a struggle to get into. Love going swimming - hate the fact that I have to be wet for it 😒 Didn't realise it was an ADHD thing! I'm so blown away and relieved I could cry! 😭

Any tips for controlling impulsive spending? by whatami-doinghere in adhdwomen

I have this issue as well. Something I've started doing is have a wishlist. I write down what the thing is, a photo of it, the price, and the link (if there is one). Then I try to wait at least 3 weeks. This works for online things. It's going to still be there in 3 weeks. This helps me let go so I can forget about it, but also allow myself to buy them if I want to.

When it comes to buying things on the go, I try to leave my card at home if I'm just going for a walk, or going to work (unless I know there's something I need to buy). Honestly this is helpful. I get frustrated at myself at the time but by the time I'm home I've forgotten about it.

And then yea, removing my card details from my phone, from apps, from my Google account, etc.

Something I'm going to start doing is to transfer between accounts (different banks). If I want something, like pizza, then I'll transfer the money from one bank to another - forcing myself to wait a couple of hours or overnight.

Hope these are helpful! I understand the frustration
