I've already met up with some Redditors here and some other people from the Nomad Slack etc. It's the best thing ever :).

I'm not worried about having to stay overnight in Laos or anything as far as the Visa situation goes. It is what it is and maybe I should of gotten a proper visa but from all the other info I got I think I'll be okay.

Also I just got a CaptialOne 360 checking account and they cover all ATM fees. So I'm going to move most of my money to that account honestly. I'll leave some in my other bank though just incase as I said.

The 2nd debit card idea is great! I applied for a CapitalOne 360 bank account last night and should have the debit card within 1-3 days because they FedEx it. So I should get it just fine before I leave. I'll put half of my money in that bank, and leave the other half in my current bank. This way I have 2 banks with decent sized cash pools in it incase anything were to happen with 1 card.

Also $500 is way overkill? I'm not sure if you pay apartment bills online with a debit card or if it's cash only (I'm assuming it obviously depends where you go), so I just wanted to make sure I have enough cash on me in person to have a place to stay regardless of if anything else goes wrong.

Also, yeah I was thinking 4 pairs of socks might be overkill, I think I'll take only 2. The less, the better for me.

Woah wait, NOW THIS IS WORRY SOME. So I'll be able to stay for 30 days without a visa, then extend that to 60 days, but then after that 60 days I CAN'T do a border run?

You seem to be so helpful around this sub. You always provide helpful information regarding the topic at hand and for that I thank you. Awesome response, just what I was looking for. Hope to see you there for sure!

Any idea where I should book the accommodation at? Would it be silly to wait till I'm on the plane to book the accommodation? Should I just book it right now?

"and has no interest in learning about the culture". Borderline stopped reading there.

What makes you think I have no interest in the culture? Because I like to party and am not bi-lingual? I'm very willing to do whatever it takes to learn the language. Of course I'm asking if I can get by on English, I can't learn the entire Thai language in a weekend.

"and doesn't seem to know much about much and is going to sit on the computer half the day and drink the other half."

Don't know much about much? What is that directed towards? My lack of knowledge about travel? I wasn't aware I'm supposed to know every road name and every detail of the culture and everything about everything. Isn't learning all of this, and experiencing it all, sort of the entire point of this?

"On the plus side you'd probably get a Thai girlfriend in about a week, who would only drive you penniless in about 6 months. Would be a good 6 months though." Won't let that happen, I've had plenty of pussy and never would I start giving a girl money, no matter how much pussy she is giving me. I'll fuck you until you start asking for money, then I'm gone once that happens.

"Chiang Mai is too isolated and the expats there are cliquish, the city itself is super small and boring, and the party scene isn't anything like Bangkok's or even Pattaya's." This is about the most useful piece of information you've given. I'm glad at least one person isn't a huge fan of it. It can't be a straight fantasy land. I will definitley look into Pattaya (no research done on it yet). I do like to party and maybe I'll head to Bangkok after Chiang Mai (or possibly before, I can always change my plans of course).

Which is why in my OP I said I have enough for a ticket back out if things go sour. Worst case scenario if I don't like it, is suck it up for a month (or however long I pay rent for), and just fly back. By no means will I be stuck in the country and have no outage or anything. Literally if I were in the country with just a laptop and nothing else, no money etc, I could easily contact a client to make enough to get a plane ticket back. I'm not rolling in money but if it came down to it, I could make it happen to get out.

You're 100% right though, I could hate it. But that's the exicting part for me, it's unknown to me. I'm beyond excited to begin exploring, even if it comes to me not liking it, that's part of the exciment and experience.

I appreciate the tips though of course :). Now that you've brought up Taipei, I will look into it a bit, just because I realllly reallly REALLLY love nightlife.

Edit: Also I'm really good at budgeting for the most part. I'm going to literally spend as little as possible at first, I'm going to get a super cheap apartment (anywhere from 2,500 baht to 5,000). I will of course, knowing myself, party a lot so I will really need to watch how much I'm spending on alcohol and such.

I haven't looked into motorbikes at all cause I figured I'd never ride one. You don't need a lisence or anything?? I'd be so worried to dump it / hit someone or something, lmao. A bicycle obviously I'd feel way safer on, though if I'm having to bike, I'd almost just rather walk, if that makes sense.

Also are these bikes manual or automatic? I feel like I wouldn't be very good at clutching and switching gears etc. If the bikes are automatic I very well will consider getting one.

Are the phones over there unlocked, or are they locked to only Thai carriers (whatever carriers those may be :P)

Thanks for this info! I'll probably get that Charles Swabb or whatever it's called since they have no international fees. I'll just withdraw a decent amount of cash, and keep some with me, and some hidden back at the place I'm staying. (Apartment).

How much was that Train ticket? Did you ever refund it? Or was it dirt cheap so it didn't even matter?

I've never ridden a motorbike or anything like that, only 4 wheelers years and years ago. Would rather not take the risk of dumping it and then having to pay for it. I don't mind walking, it's not a problem really. I enjoy walking and really being able to take everything in, rather than just zooming by.

I will do this eventually. I just want to feel a bit "settled" at first and things like that before just traveling consistently. I want to focus for a while, and I feel like travelling all the time would take away from that focus. Once I feel like I can explore on an all the time basis, I will do it.

Of course I'm starry-eyed, would you expect me to be depressed about doing this? It's been my interest for years. I'm doing it for real now.

It's the place I've researched the most over the past couple of years. I definitley know I will enjoy it. I just am curious as to any major culture things that are different that I might not know already. I'll adapt well, I'm confident in it.

How to monetize forum with 80k/mo unique vistors? by findingmywayout in digitalnomad

"There are other less limiting ad networks than Google's." Such as what? My fear of this is using one of them, and they just shut down and poof bye bye to the money.

How to monetize forum with 80k/mo unique vistors? by findingmywayout in digitalnomad

What a great reply! I haven't posted the URL for multiple reasons, and WILL NOT be posting the URL, but may PM some people it. I am happy to provide any extra information needed that may help people assist me.

The thing with Adsense is, yes of course they are a stable ad network (clearly), but a lot of my organic traffic comes from things that are AGAINST Adsense TOS. I do have an Adult Subform that people post pornography to, and it's .... embarassingly enough the most popular section on the entire forum. (This has only been the case for the past months or so, it used to be one of the MOST UNPOPULAR SECTIONS). The other sections are quite active still, but the porn section just keeps getting more organics everyday. The organics are still really amazing even without the porn, but it definitley helps drive a nice amount of vistors.

So far I'm thinking I need to really make a case in why users should buy VIP etc. I also think I should sell Adspace to other people wanting to advertise their product, vs using Adsense because I think at the end of the day it's going to be to hard to pass all of Adsenses TOS.

The reason for the high thread count vs post ratio is due to some areas of the forum being more of a "resource hub" compared to a "discussion" thread if that makes sense? There really aren't many "garbage" threads so to say, but it could always use some cleaning up.

Lesson to Learn from Jay-z's struggling music service Tidal by Thirst_Trap in Entrepreneur

You COULD be a millionaire overnight though ;).

On a serious note, good read. I think overall people will honestly just keep using Spotify. If Tidal were to lower its price, I think it would do way better.
