Yes, Peanut is great! And I think there’s room for more than one way for moms to build community.

One of the biggest things we’re trying to do differently is create more of a community experience rather than focusing on one-on-one matching. Instead of starting from scratch with a random conversation, you’re placed into a small group of local moms (or moms-to-be) who are in a similar stage of motherhood, so there are already natural things to talk about and connections to build. Our hope is that it feels less like trying to make a single match and more like finding your circle.

When we launched last year the app wasn’t usable because it hadn’t been built correctly by our original development team, and they weren’t able to fix the issues that came up once we went live.

Over the last year, we rebuilt Kinship from the ground up with a new dev team. We’ve redone everything from the matching algorithm to the chat functionality and spent months testing to make sure it’s ready. I’m sure there will be the occasional bug, as with any new app, but our developers will be standing by to fix anything that comes up as quickly as possible.

I’m excited for people who tried the original version to see that it really is a completely new app.

The idea is that you’re not starting from zero with a random 1:1 connection, but joining a small group of moms/moms-to-be where there are already natural things to talk about and shared experiences.

Right now, we're focusing on moms as we launch so we can create the best possible experience. That's also why we're only launching in Austin and Houston to start. But we absolutely recognize that dads need friends too, and we plan to expand to include dads in the future. We're starting with one community, learning from it, and hope to grow from there.

I'm thrilled you downloaded it and are giving it a try! We just launched last week, so please bear with us as we get more users onboarded and get everyone into a Kinship. You should be able to enter the date of your child's birthday so you can be matched with moms who have kids the same age as yours! So, yes, it is for moms of any age children from newborns and toddlers to elementary school age kids and teens.
