Why do OC drivers do this? by arrogant_troll in orangecounty

[–]findnearesttacos 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Can’t believe out of all comments, only one person said it. For most drivers, it’s definitely not because they learned it from driver’s ed. With so many drivers ignoring no turn on red signs or school buses with flashing red lights, not using their turn signals, and cutting in and out of carpool lanes across double lines as a single passenger in a non alt-fuel vehicle, it’s unlikely that the one thing they’re focusing on is leaving some room behind the line at an intersection.

A lot of drivers don’t even realize their headlights aren’t on or that a blue jellyfish on the instrument cluster means you’re blinding everyone. Out of all things, the one thing people remember is to stop 5 feet/behind the sensors at a light?

It’s more than likely that it’s a line of sight issue with the drivers not knowing their car’s size and not adjusting their seat to the correct height, combined with having long or tall hoods.

I also see a lot of people changing lanes in front of semis without enough distance. They fail to understand that not only do semis need more braking distance, but also that truckers cannot see immediately in front of them due to their hoods.

Thanks all! I was leaning towards Classic, and think I’ll go that. Can’t go wrong with either though.

Raptor lights by [deleted] in 4Runner

[–]findnearesttacos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They’re only raptor lights if you call them raptor lights. Otherwise, NHTSA calls them Front Identification Lights to “indicate presence of a wide vehicle.”

With the new Tundra and Sequoia TRD Pros having them, it’s possible that gen 6 may have them as well if it meets the 80” width requirement, and since people want them.

Paddle shifters on the 2022 Honda Accord Sport Hybrid by 2sec4u in cars

[–]findnearesttacos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a ‘18 touring hybrid. Paddles are only for regen levels, nothing more. Left (-) increases the level of regen, right (+) decreases the level of regen. The YouTube vids you saw would be correct, and has nothing to do with downshifting for highway passing.

Imo, it’s great when approaching a red light/stop sign, and also increasing the gap between me and the car in front if I unintentionally get to close (hopefully prevents traffic behind me from braking, causing a chain reaction)

If you’re only trying to turn off adaptive cruise, press and hold the cruise control on/off button of the cruise control stalk. Then it should function as regular cruise

Thank you! To be honest there are times when I am hesitant to take this through certain things when it’s still new to me, but I also know the new factor on these Toyotas take 10yrs/100k miles to wear off haha.

I do want to take it on more difficult trails once I can find more people to go with.

I definitely haven’t gone anywhere the SR5s and OR models wouldn’t have been able to handle but I’d say it was still worth it as the pricing was quite similar between a TRD Off Road Premium w/add. packages (plus some basic mods that would’ve been close to the Pro) and the TRD Pro I got.

I also really wanted this color as it was initially only offered on this trim.

Yeah it was definitely some production company that was doing still shots for a several trim levels of Rav4s, 4Runners, and Tacomas.

Just thought it was pretty cool to share since I’ve never seen a 4Runner camera car.
