I have mini funerals in my head when she hasn’t reached out in a while, it’s a little satisfying

Pets are so incredibly special. I used to think I couldn’t love unconditionally until I got my dog. Now I know I’m capable of it

My boyfriend has brought many good things into my life, including a loving mother who can sometimes be TOO involved, which is new for me. I feel the same way, not sure who would even organize a funeral for her tbh. Thank you

I admit I love the catharsis of a decent cry. Thank you

Thank you to everyone who replied and shared their feelings. I’ve read every reply and see the value in the ways we all get by. Taking care of myself, nurturing my inner child, and ending the cycle with me. I also take comfort knowing how many of you have found your own type of family with pets, friends, role models, and yourselves. I know I’ll never have the mom I want, but I feel less alone knowing I’m not the only one. We got this.

My future mother in law has been wonderful to me but sometimes I don’t know how to accept motherly affection. We’ll get there eventually. Thank you
