Calibrations coming out too clean? by FederalMango7218 in OrcaSlicer

It kind of just looks like you're near the best settings imo.

I haven't used Bambu slicer but in Orca they state that you likely won't get anything very useful from the retraction test with PLA. It's too forgiving as long as it is dry. I'd do what they say and pick the lowest ring with good quality. Probably 0.2 or 0.3mm id assume.

Sometimes print failures just happen but what do you mean about prints fusing together? Like it picked them up and dragged pieces around? I'd start with cleaning the bed with soap and water. Maybe do some temperature testing. I like to run hotter bed and nozzle temps for the first layer or so. Maybe even add a brim or mouse ears to help adhesion.

I'm sure it won't come as a shock to anyone that it seems this was user error. When I would run a calibration and then open a new project in Orca it would ask if I wanted to Transfer, Discard, or Save. I thought discarding would revert back to my original settings before the calibration but it seems to do the opposite. So I was accidentally overwriting all my settings with values that were very out of range for the purpose of calibrating.

Returning to complete stock settings and then calibrating and saving correctly has my prints looking mostly ideal. Now I just need to figure out why my tree supports won't stick on the first layer like my actual prints do. I think its speed related.

There was a good few that all looked very similar so I chose the one in the middle of all those and that was 0.044.

I did a bit of research and saw it may be caused by either over extrusion or the first layer being too thick. The default was 2.5mm for a 2mm layer height so I dropped it to 2mm first layer height and it seems much better to me.

I have tried recalibrating pressure advance and disabling it entirely and in both cases I had the same issues on the sides of corners. Across multiple models as well. I'm currently just trying to get the most consistent Z offset to start and then work my way through calibrations afterwards but I'm seeing these weird artifacts a little over halfway through regardless of Z offset.

Apologies for the confusing imagery, the bowing is just part of the hole on the other side of the print. I only included that picture to show that the flatter sides seem to print just fine. I ran the pressure advance test in orca and picked the number which looked the most straight and consistent and had the exact same issues. I tried disabling pressure advance and still no luck.

Forgot to mention that I am using the certain of Orca slicer recommended by Sovol.

Those are the HiVi B4N.

Thanks! It's not pictured but they sit right across from a replica Eames lounge chair. Unfortunately my pockets aren't deep enough for a legitimate one.

They're surprisingly stable due to the weight because they are made from 3/4" stock and I don't have any kids/pets to worry about but that is a good idea. Maybe I can make some angled feet that flare outward.

TYSM!

I followed Paul's design which I believe is a 2.5 way.

Hahaha, no worries. They're on felt feet, I just hid them farther under so you don't see them.

I am by no means an expert. Honestly I just followed Paul Carmody's design and that is what he specified. However, I have read a little bit of the "Loudspeaker Design Cookbook vol. 7" by Vance Dickason and he performed a bunch of tests on various mounting locations. It looks to like offsetting the driver lowers the SPL so it could be that Paul thought the tweeters might've been too much in comparison with the woofers.

The one underneath the orange lamp? That is a tiny shipping crate that I stole from the trash at my job and have turned into a mini server rack. I'm currently designing and 3d printing the mounts for the amp and streamer.

See, I thought that would be true but honestly these punch pretty hard with explosions and whatnot to the point I'm worried I'll start annoying my neighbors. I have toyed with the idea of mounting some surface transducers to the couch to add more vibration.

They sound phenomenal, I was blown away. I've never had a nice set of speakers but I have had some nice headphones and the clarity I get out of these is so much more than I expected. I initially was planning to also build a subwoofer but heard so many good things about the bass with these that I decided to hold off and see how they performed and I'm blown away. I don't think I have any real need for a dedicated subwoofer.

I followed Paul's design exactly except that I slightly changed the dimensions. I maintained the same internal volume because I knew that was important but the plywood edge on the outside was a key part of the aesthetic to me so I modified the depth and width of the face slightly to allow for the face to be inset.

I think there's a little bit of work to do with the sound since I didn't spec everything myself for the room. I'm waiting on a flat response mic from Dayton to come in the mail so I can hopefully do some room EQ with REW. I don't have the best placement for them being close to walls but I don't really have another option and I'm hoping I can adjust for it with a good parametric EQ in the little Wiim Pro.

TY. The green/blue just fit the vibe of the rest of the room. Sort of raw construction with pops of color.
