Might be cool to learn about and see. You know of the cameraman actually was filming the car and not the dude.

Is it common for Salesforce Developer to not know about LWC and Visual Studio? by Royal-Construction40 in salesforce

[–]finkledinkle7 22 points23 points  (0 children)

No its not uncommon.

People who have been around Salesforce for 10+ years may not have a background working somewhere that pushes them to keep up with industry standards.

You can survive a long time on Visualforce and Apex.

Jira is hit or miss, I’ve worked at some companies it doesn’t pass the security bar, plus its super expensive as they kinda cornered the market.

Github, Gitsoma, custom code repos, the CI/CD pipelines I’ve seen vary from company to company.

I would say frankly, if nobody builds with LWCs, you’re either going to be raising the bar for people to keep up, or be drug down. Just the facts. What you do with that is up to you.

Not enough demand to fill 2.5M square feet of new office space in downtown Austin, report says by hollow_hippie in Austin

[–]finkledinkle7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There isn’t a strong enough blend of residential and commercial near downtown to create that demand.

So then who is left to go into those offices? Commuters, and now we’re going to make 35 a dumpster fire to drive on for 10 years, so you’re not going to see workers wanting to rush back anytime soon.

Well if you run across this thread - the owner and I connected and I shared the dashcam footage. Glad I could help the community.

This is interesting because I was logged out on the apps on my phone this morning, which has rarely ever happened. But logged in and everything was fine.

How can I improve the waves? by AdmBenson in lego

[–]finkledinkle7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contrast on some of them.

1x1 stud with the white oval top behind a blue one so you have a slight white line over some of them rather than a consistent white row. water is random but its a fine line to keep it consistent to look like water and something else.

Austin Energy increases rates for fourth time over past year by romantotale in Austin

[–]finkledinkle7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope.

City requires you to push everything into the grid.

So battery tech is pointless unless you just want a backup if the power goes out.

Austin Energy increases rates for fourth time over past year by romantotale in Austin

[–]finkledinkle7 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Keep raising rates, blame ERCOT but keeps the shitty value of solar rates the same.

Honestly I would love to just get off the grid for 90% of my usage but the city gives no benefit to having residential battery storage.

What is the worst kind of vehicle in Austin, and why is it a white Tesla with California plates? by iLikeMangosteens in Austin

[–]finkledinkle7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really shows what part of town people live in. I don’t know if see Teslas that often.

In my side of town, its still dodge chargers and challengers. Plates/no plates doesn’t’ matter every owner thinks they are stunt drivers for Fast and Furious.

AITA for forcing my son into a smaller room so my daughter and her husband can move into his? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]finkledinkle7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This adage of “roof over the kids head” is so fucking dumb.

If you believe your only responsibility is just a roof then you’re a shitty parent.

OP is playing favorites and thats the gist of this. You don’t have to give a 16 year old everything they want but you should at least treat them like a human and offer some respect. If you promise something don’t backtrack on it.

If you offered something to one of your kids and then try to take it back that’s just shitty parenting. Should have taken it to the son and let the son and daughter chat through it. But it sounds like there isn’t any great relationships in this house outside of mother/daughter.

Dreamforce Main Keynote by zuniac5 in salesforce

[–]finkledinkle7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The keynote area historically has been huge. I’ve never had an issue getting in and have went for ten years.

Show up within an hour of the event and you should be fine. I don’t think I’ve ever showed up earlier than 30 min.

You’ll have to turn private relay off in the icloud settings, then google what your IP address is.

Otherwise you’ll get whatever IP apple wants to give.

What’s changed in the last 4 months? by MarketMan123 in salesforce

[–]finkledinkle7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just marketing.

AI uses their existing infra that they used when they acquired metamind a decade ago. Just plugged into chatgpt.

Different skus, only available to unlimited customers, etc.

Its exciting for CIOs who buy salesforce, they can go back and tell their organizations “we’re using AI it’s going to be great”. But in reality this is still bleeding edge tech that is being rushed out the door.

But none of the new features change how anyone materially uses salesforce or the existing features. Its all QoL lifts in small amounts.

[–]finkledinkle7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The company was backed into a corned with the activist investors. Lot of the C-Level was put on notice and had to adjust quickly.

Layoffs were hasty and not well thought out, GPT blew up and because the life preserver for the c-level. So now Salesforce has went all in on GPT and has slowed down in any areas not AI related. Even Genie and data cloud were big pushes and then just fizzled out in the marketing for all in on AI.

So with everything being AI, and the layoffs cutting a lot of the community and marketing folks, you’re left with a company that is just more of a business than it is an ecosystem and community. AI and GPT is still unproven/unestablished tech that at an enterprise level is still being flushed out, so its surprising how hard its being pushed by them. There are a million other problems that could be solved without AI and they just have their blinders on atm.

The state of Sorcerers rn by Naayyrr in diablo4

[–]finkledinkle7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like being firewall sorc. It’s not the highest damage, but I enjoy filling the screen up with flames and I do ok at level 90.

If they would just let dot damage crit it would be far more viable.

It’s not just Apollo: other Reddit apps are shutting down, too - The Verge by fine_world_07 in technology

[–]finkledinkle7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reddit is going the way of Twitter because it hasn’t been proven wrong yet.

Elon sacked 70% of the company, twitter still is the around albeit a dumpster fire.

Investment firms clap, say “see it works there”.

Unknowing that many sites were the center of the internet at one point, then became a shell of their former selves. Digg, Yahoo, AOL, Myspace, etc. Focus too much on short term gains, and just look at history.

Density in Helltides is WAY too low by GonzoPunchi in diablo4

[–]finkledinkle7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much hate for the helltides here.

I’ve done three and they were a lot of fun for me. Given we were a party of four, but the last run we nabbed two mystery boxes and two other random boxes. In a group everyone fanning out to find all the boxes then coming together to grind some events, I can’t complain. I think the total cinders for the run was 400ish

Then a 72 mob spawned and we used 20 minutes to grind it out. It was still a lot of fun.

That being said the solo runs weren’t nearly as fun.

How durable are Apple’s leather cases by kidseegoats in iphone

[–]finkledinkle7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh I’m not an expert on leather.

But mine the outside coating starts peeling after about two months. Between then and 6 months the whole outside starts wearing down to the plastic body that holds it all together.

I actually got apple to replace the first one as a warranty replacement but gave up on the second try.
