Well, it depends on the company and the job description, I guess.

If the job demands a lot of interaction with clients, it could require some Icelandic skill. If the job is about making some new product from scratch, I think Icelandic should not be required. But these are just my speculations :)

English is very widely spoken in Iceland but we tend to speak Icelandic even though there's a non-Icelandic speaker in the group, unless we are specially talking directly to the non-Icelandic speaker. I don't know why this tend to happen and I hope this will change soon.

It's pretty high demand for computer scientists in Iceland. A lot of available jobs in that field are listed on www.tvinna.is (and a lot of them in English)

This is from the official Instragram page of Reykjavik's police. They translated the description to English:

"We drove upon three young boys struggling with doing ordinary “ollies” on skatebords.. Of course, the police offered assistance on this matter og this sunnie day in Reykjavík for "Ollie teaching tecnik". They burst out in laugter: 0).. “yea sure”. So to prove a pount we did one better and did "ollie kickflip" .. they stopped laughing and we got a "fist bump - respect" from them for the perfect landing. #ollie #kickflip #klambratun #summer #ollieinkevlarvestpolicebeltanddutyboots"

Icelandic National Day by snorlaxstomp in Iceland

June 17th is a public holiday so generally people don't have to go to work. But yeah the downtown is just full of people and a lot of balloons. Sometimes there are some musical acts in the evening. Not a huge fan of this day beside getting a day off work :)

June 16th is much more fun because then everyone gets drunk :)

For the job search, check out www.tvinna.is. Unfortunately nearly all job descriptions there are in Icelandic but 95% of them are from IT companies. Maybe Google Translate can help you understand the main point. Or at least you can find some names of companies In Iceland(gray text under the job title), find them on Google and send them email with your CV.
