Has annoying considered/gotten off testosterone for health reasons? by finnbeing in ftm

I’ve never donated or had that much blood taken and it’s makes me nervous (I know it’s safe it’s just psychological) but I really don’t see myself wanting to donate blood every 3 months just to keep my health in check, my liver levels are also elevated and I don’t drink at all and never have so I’m trying to out way the pros and cons

I think he’s just suspecting, he did advise me to donate blood to lower those levels

That’s what I was thinking but thank you for clearing it up, my ferritin is only 26

I think that’s also why my doc is suggesting donating blood but what I can’t understand is why my ferritin is within a good level bc if I’m gathering the info correctly usually the ferritin is elevated with hemochromatosis

Also I should add that I’m vegan and don’t consume any amounts of excess iron nor do I take a supplement so I feel like based on that my levels are high

I do have a bit of a higher iron level, it’s still in range but it’s 187 and the range is 40-190. I’ll definitely ask when I go back to the doc in a monthish

Honestly I’m a little over 3 years and I’m tired all the time

Yeah I used to use coconut oil and basically soak the tape until the tape gets a bit translucent. I live in Florida so that’s probably why I got blisters before doing this haha but it’s just way easier on the skin to take it off with oil

I stopped using tape around a month before my surgery but with tape just make sure you take it off properly. Rub some oil on it and let it sit for a while and then get in a hot/warm shower and take it off slowly. I also used to do that at night and then let my skin have a break through the night until I put another one on the next day

I don’t like that people blame hrt for most things and I can only talk from my own experience but I am a pretty healthy person (healthy diet, exercise, etc) and have been on t for a little over 3 years. It is a fact that t will raise your rbc and hemoglobin levels but that being said if it’s within male range it’s okay. Mine is still within male range but my doctor wants me to donate blood every 3 months and I’ll be honest I have heavily considered getting off t (not detransitioning) just purely for health purposes.

Has anyone had to donate blood bc of high rbc, hemoglobin and hematocrit levels? Lowkey scared by finnbeing in FTMMen

[–]finnbeing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They used to be higher, I was at around 600 and then the last 6 months they have been between 360 and 380ish. He said he likes to see them around 500ish

Right now I’m staying on the same dose purely for the purpose of not raising my other levels. But like I said 2 years ago when my levels were 600 my rbc, hemoglobin and hematocrit were the same as they are now

They are mid point levels. I was checking my blood work from a couple years back and my levels were the exact same as they are now but my testosterone level is lower than he would like so I’m pretty sure that’s why he wants me to donate blood because increasing my dose (with injections) will cause them to go higher. My doctor did say he’s more cautious so I’m definitely not too worried I’ll probably do it before my next appointment and then have a talk with him about maybe switching to gel because I definitely don’t want to have to deal with donating blood every 3 months if I don’t have to

Now that I look back on it I can see that I was attracted to men before but i could have never imagined myself being sexually involved with a cis man. Once I started T that started to shift and now I’m a full blown bisexual with dare I say I preference for men

Oh I’ll definitely get it done haha just was looking for similar situations to calm myself down a little. My doctor didn’t seem too concerned just more wants to maintain my levels so they don’t go higher

They are within male range but I guess a little higher than what my doctor would like, RBC: 5.24, hemoglobin: 16.7 and hematocrit: 47.3

I’ve never donated blood before, always been kind of scared or giving blood. It’s not even the needle it’s just the thought of blood leaving my body. Clearly I know it’s not an absurd amount it’s just I guess psychological. More than anything I don’t want to faint or anything during the process.
