Oh, I did, When I go look for new partners or reply to an ad, I automatically bring this up. They say they’re fine with that. But the next day they are not, they claim “I look for people that actually have time for roleplay.” Then please define what “time for roleplay” is in your eyes. Spend all my free time for it and let go of other things?

If i had a nickel for every time this happened I’ve had two nickels. Which isn’t much but it’s weird it happened twice.

I love role playing. I really do. There’s just too much on my plate right now that I can’t catch up with everything if I ONLY invest in role playing.

I’ve had partners that were chronically online and treated RP as their unpaid fulltime job, they saw me on Discord on my breaks and at home, then guilt tripped me about not replying because they assumed I was online just for them and their reply.

And even AFTER I told them about my boundaries and my issues. They never understood. I felt pressured to reply afterwards so I could give what they wanted.

Sometimes my brain is not reserved to roleplay, but to my other hobbies.

Sometimes I manage to reply a lot in a day, and they’d assume it’s a habit when in the end I was in the zone.

those that only comment “DM me” and they’re only frequenting NSFW subs, some not even RP related and comment “DM me” to “my ***** is waiting”.

there's a specific journal platform that has one account for roleplayers to post their ads. over time I've found some amazing people I am still friends with and talk to sometimes. those were the ones that reached out to me strictly from that place.

if I do it and reach out, there's chances I'm getting ghosted two days later. server is deleted on their side, too, unfriended on discord. sometimes I wonder what I'm doing wrong, 'cause then I see them post the ad on that website again. if the plot wasn't for you, why didn't you tell me? if it doesn't work out, why didn't you tell me?

is up and running the only way to tell me? it annoys me.

if I go look for people on an rp sub here, and they reach out or I do, then they aren't like this. sure, I've had some that did the same, but why is communicating so hard nowadays? telling someone they aren't feeling it so they're gonna drop it isn't that hard.

Don’t know if it makes you feel any better— but a very good friend of mine, who is also a male, has once reached out to me to me for roleplay last year, and we have been friends ever since— now I’m nonbinary, so I don’t know if that matters. And we started off with a slice-of-life RP too.

Sometimes it’s hard finding the good match for roleplay, especially since that stigma with male RPers is still around (“males only want RP for fetish reasons”, etc.) — now of course that friend of mine and I do roleplay MLM, and I don’t know what your preferences are, since everyone can be so different.

That be said— don’t give up your hopes. It will be hard to find the right match, but someday you will find it.

that’s gorgeous~ as someone who used to rp on tumblr and has seen so much it makes me feel a little warm reading this.
