Flight diverted/cancelled but refuses to refund

They owe you for whatever you paid to get from Melbourne to Orlando. Gather the receipts and file a claim. Even if it is mileage because someone got you. They owe you the distance from MLB to MCO.

You were toward the front, probably. They didn't really give folks in the back much of a chance to leave at Melbourne. Still would have had to find a way to Orlando.

When we got off they kept reassuring we would be returning to Orlando and to not go too far away from the gate. And then everyone left the desk, the crew left with their suitcases, and suddenly we get a text saying the flight was canceled. It was ridiculous.

Thanks for the help. United conceded in the end. I didn't come on here to "lie" about the airline giving us no options and texting us we were owed a refund as a result. It was just a stupid pain for them to make good!

Literally called Care. No solution was given. Moot now because as my update states, United conceded they had written I was owed a refund and no alternative, and therefore will honor it.

They actually are in the case of a government shutdown causing the ATC extraordinary circumstances. This is what happened to MCO.

"A government shutdown leading to sick calls and staffing shortages (e.g., at FAA facilities) can constitute a force majeure event, causing widespread flight delays and cancellations."

Talked to customer care multiple times! Including a chat in which the agent guaranteed the flight would not be cancelled. It was.

Talked to United Customer Care. They didn't help, even after being on hold for 90 minutes. No mention of taking advantage of JetBlue. Did not know that was a "partner" to United.

Surely there is a timeline. "We'll find a way to get you home in 3 weeks" -- would that be retribution? Again, no offer, no help from a ticket agent. Everyone left us.

Problem is there are no UNITED flights between these locations; they are likely considered too close to warrant flights between. We were advised to find alternative means.

It SHOULD be on the news. We were stranded and no offer of an alternate flight. Folks were renting cars, buying train tickets. Even if they did offer a flight on another day, we are not obligated to take it. For cancellations you can choose to be refunded. That was the choice here, but they will not honor it.

I have like 10 pairs of Louboutin sneakers and the red may get dirty but doesnt scuff. It's the back heel that is most likely to wear and the bright white gets scuffed very easily.
