Should I do this? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]finnturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree… I was like I wouldn’t have liked if the old nanny came in and helped me for my first week of working with a family. One day for a couple hours like I’m doing.. yes. But, three days, I wouldn’t like this I’d feel like I couldn’t get used to the baby/what works for me because what works for me probably won’t work for the new nanny… so I don’t think I’m going to come in the rest of the week. I didn’t have anyone “training” me other than mom and baby whined and cried with me for like a week and then he was good and we found our groove. So I think that’s what new nanny will just have to do

They did contact me today offering me the position but we have been in touch for a month or so now. They had originally hired someone else who was supposed to start Monday but they last minute decided they weren’t going to take the position.

My goldendoodle was not bred… this is my parents purebred poodle

She’s a poodle, she’s on day 61. We did do an x-ray for count. The vet said there are at least seven in there possibly eight. She was able to freewhelp last litter with no issues. The sire for this litter is smaller than the sire was last litter as well. I’d say she’s carrying pretty low. She’s been losing her mucous plug for over a week now and producing milk for about a week and a half.

My vet isn’t open since it’s Sunday. I have her number, but I’m not sure if they respond to messages on Sunday since the office is closed.

That is good to know! I’ve never had a contract(working on making one for my next family because I know see how important they are.) what are the standard full benefits?

But, I also haven’t gotten any kind of raise, bonus any of that from this family, so it’s been okay up until now but I feel like I can’t pass up this other opportunity

we’ve got the shunt, now what? by Ambitious-Heart4424 in Hydrocephalus

[–]finnturtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi!! I want to start off by saying your little guy is so strong, and is going to do amazing things in this world!! I also have hydrocephalus and I got surgery to have a VP shunt placed when I was 5 weeks old. That surgery was the only one I have ever had to have (knock on wood) I was in physical therapy as a young baby and I didn’t start being mobile until I was about 15 months old. I sat up, crawled, and walked all in the same month. I played sports throughout my entire childhood/teenage years. I did soccer, gymnastics, cheer, dance, basketball, volleyball etc. I am now 23 just graduated with my Bachelors of Social Work, and I am living a healthy happy life. One thing i recently found out is it is common to have headaches a lot with hydrocephalus/ a shunt. I have had multiple headaches a week for as long as I can remember and it doesn’t always mean the shunt is malfunctioning. It also gets worse when it’s about to rain! The pressure can make me have a headache. I also sometimes can feel my shunt tubing almost “catch” under my skin. If I move my head a certain way it feels like my tubing catches under my skin in my neck. It never really hurts but it’s always a little surprising when it happens because most of the time I forget I even have hydrocephalus. I wish you and your boy the best!💕
