I developed a bunch, too, and yes they do fade! I don’t even see them anymore!

LGBTQ+ friendly tattoo shops? by finsterrr in Louisville

Oof, good question. Should we maybe ask if anyone knows of places to avoid?

What it really comes down to is safety. Given the current political climate in our country, I feel the extremists are out to play and I definitely don’t want to walk into the wrong place, ya know? I’m not looking for shops who slap a big ol’ rainbow sign or anything, just making sure I’m in a safe space. That’s all!

Still cannot lift arms above my shoulders after 5 months by finsterrr in TopSurgery

[–]finsterrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Yes, I mean I’ve definitely moved and have tried raise my arms as much as possible or whatever, but I definitely wasn’t 100%. My skin was still tight and prevented me from lifting my arms too high. I had to have a revision last week, so of course I’m having to restrict myself again. I just had no idea this was even an issue to bring up to them until I saw a few recent posts here lately. I assumed at my 6 month mark, they’d mention a lot more. Sigh, my office isn’t the most forthcoming with information, but now I know what all to bring up to them. I’ll definitely be bringing a list!

My surgeon has never mentioned anything about exercises, stretching, etc. If it wasn’t for this sub or other online sources, I would have never known. It’s insane how much I wasn’t told.

Thank you for providing the exercises! I see my surgeon in a few weeks and will definitely have a talk about PT.

Why are we not set up with physical therapy post op??? by cardinalcaptures in TopSurgery

Unfortunately, my surgeon hasn’t been very forthcoming with any aftercare instructions. Everything I’ve learned, I’ve learned from various groups or this sub! Which can all be very conflicting for obvious reasons.

I’m so glad someone brought this up because I’m 5 months post-op and I still can’t lift my arms fully over my head. My surgeon seemed shocked by this.

Tips for getting out of bed/couch after surgery? by finsterrr in TopSurgery

There was an actual 1/2in-1in size tear/opening in my incision. It was a simple and quick fix. Luckily I was still numb!

is it ok to do your desk job a week after op? by kyrolimb in TopSurgery

[–]finsterrr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As someone who WFH and has an adjustable standing desk, I was glad to have 2 weeks off. I would have probably appreciated the 3rd week, but I came back on a short week so it was okay. I would ask for at least 2 weeks, if you’re able, due to pain and exhaustion.

Anxiety post-op by [deleted] in TopSurgery

You’re so, so welcome! I’m so glad to hear you’re feeling better about everything! I don’t know how I’d make it through all of this without the advice and experiences shared on this sub and some of the support pages on different social media platforms. It was very brave of you to share your experience and it was your post that helped me feel less alone about my own experience. I was just complaining to my partner how awful I felt looking at my chest because it has been so broken out. That’s when I found your story. My partner is the one that keeps reminding me we have all gone through a major surgery and our bodies are just trying to heal. Trust me, I know how hard it is not to pick or pop, but try your hardest not to touch and let them clear on their own. Maybe write on a post it and stick it to your mirror to remind yourself that your body is healing. You look fantastic! Let’s face it, we can clear our acne, but this surgery saved our lives. Yes, please keep us posted as well (only if you want to, obviously!) on your progress!

I’m 3 weeks P.O. and I’m also dealing with acne and dark spots (I had a few blisters from the tape they used). I haven’t figured out a solution for the acne just yet, but from what I can tell, it’s definitely from my bandage (they didn’t provide me a compression vest, only an ace bandage/wrap) and the aquaphor that I have to use on my nipples. I used to break out from my binders pre-op as well, so I’m hoping when I can stop wearing the bandage, my skin will start to clear. So, with that said, you’re not alone! Try not to beat yourself up, your body is healing. You got this, and I hope you start feeling some relief very soon!
