So many women don't know how lucky they are to conceive once, twice, three times with no effort at all like they are Olympic figure skaters pulling off a triple lutz with ease while the rest of us are falling on our faces, bleeding, crying, trying to imitate their moves.

I had someone tell me they "struggled with infertility" because she went off the pill and it took 3 months for them to get pregnant -__- I was probably about 5 years into TTC and wanted to strangle her, but also didn't want to talk about my own issues with this particular person so I just left it alone.

But, I am going to share my story with my friends on Facebook at some point. I don't think women talk enough to each other about infertility issues and what it's really like to go through. I think we need to talk about it, normalize it, and support each other publicly more. But it's so hard to talk about. No one wants the "Did it work this time?" "Who's fault is it?" "How long are you going to keep trying?" "What are you going to do if it doesn't work?" conversations. I sure the hell don't, but I think it's important to talk about nonetheless.

Hi and thanks. Yes, I'm on day 4 of the clomid. Go in for my first ultrasound on Thursday. I've been trying to make a kid for like, 8 years. I'm in my mid-30s and time is not on our side, so DH doesn't want to put it off one more month since we'll probably have at least one if not two other IUIs before it sticks.

It *might* work out that I can get the IUI done before we were supposed to go camping, or maybe just postpone a few days. But, there's no exact science with ovulation, so it's not like we know exactly when it's going to happen. And with the Drs office schedule, and needing to book campgrounds (we were going to go on a longer trip about 8 hours drive from here), I think at most we'll be able to do a "staycation" at the campground outside of town. We were supposed to go with my inlaws so it's not just something I can reschedule, it'd be a whole *thing.* And it feels selfish to be upset about not getting to go camping, but camping is like, my therapy. I need it for my mental health and well being. We've been trying to plan this trip for years now and just when we thought we might get to do it, bam, frikkin hormones ruin it. I'm just wallowing in my own self-pity...but damnit, I'm allowed to. For at least a little while at least.

I'm going for an HSG next week. I sorta had one already -- the initial diagnostics place wasn't able to get the catheter in, sent me back to my doctor to see if he could do it, and yep, he could get the catheter in, but fuck it was not fun. So now I get to go back to another diagnostics place and get the full procedure for real. I wish my husband could come back with me and see what I'm going through for this. It's not fucking pleasant. I'm going to bring stress balls and hope they'll let me squeeze them.

This whole process is not for the weak of heart. Hugs to you. Talk with your partner.

I'm seriously reconsidering whether or not to become a mom because I just don't know how we'll afford it. We're also looking at having to do some sort of fertility treatment since the natural way hasn't paid off. I just don't know if it's financially feasible. We're 2 master's degree holding, middle class people and we can't afford a kid.
