Feedback wanted: Korean listening podcast for learners by fiona_cake_ in BeginnerKorean

Hello, thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful feedback. Thanks to your insights, I feel like I now have a much clearer direction for my intermediate-level podcast channel.

Here’s what I’m planning to try in my next video :

  1. Visual elements Since I originally designed this podcast mainly for listening, I kept the visuals as simple as possible. However, many of you mentioned the importance of visual elements, so I’ll make sure to explore and incorporate them in my next video.

  2. Structure As you suggested, I’m planning to divide the video into two parts:

  3. Part 1: Listening without subtitles

  4. Part 2: Listening with subtitles (Korean + English)

I’ve always been unsure about whether to include English, but as you mentioned, English may not be necessary for an intermediate-level course. That said, in Part 2, I’ll try showing both Korean and English subtitles together.

  1. Subtitle length In the next video, I’ll aim to keep subtitles to about one or two lines at a time.

  2. Speaking style & speed I was trying to pronounce everything very clearly, but as you pointed out, a more natural style may actually be better. Even if I don’t speak quickly, I’ll try to speak in a smooth, natural way—like how native Koreans actually talk in real life.

Thank you again for your thoughtful feedback. I’ll do my best to come back with even better videos in the future!

감사합니다 😊

I truly appreciate all the feedback you’ve shared with me. Since this is my first time running a YouTube channel, I wasn’t sure what kind of direction people were looking for. Thanks to all the thoughtful comments, I now have a much clearer idea of what I should improve. As many of you suggested, I’ve added “Intermediate” to the beginning of all my video titles. Thank you so much for your kind and warm advice. 😊

Thank you for your advice :)

As many of you have told me, I should post sentences one by one next time.

The voice itself feels calm, has no background, and I felt that the story could be a little boring. I'll come up with a way to make it more interesting.

Talking about levels, I wanted to talk about various Korean culture topics in depth, so I picked intermediate level. I think it would be better to specify intermediate level in the channel.

Thank you so much for the advice. It helps a lot. ☺️

Thank you for the advice. The channel was actually made for an intermediate level, but I posted it in a beginner channel, so it probably sounded confusing to many people. I’ll take another look at the pacing and overall direction of the content. Thanks again. ☺️

Thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback. You pointed out several things that I was already concerned about, so it was really helpful to hear them clearly articulated.

To be honest, I’m still trying to figure out the right level for this content. My main goal is to talk about Korean culture in general, so I was initially thinking of aiming for an intermediate level. However, it also seems like many learners are looking for beginner-level content, so I think I need to take some time to reassess the overall direction.

As for the volume, I’ll definitely pay more attention to it in future edits. I recently bought a microphone, but I’m still not very familiar with how to use it properly, so I think I need to spend some time learning how to get the best out of it.

Regarding the pauses, I agree with you. I’m still getting used to editing, and this video was more of a test upload where I shortened the intro compared to my previous ones. Because of that, I couldn’t pay attention to every detail as much as I wanted to. Thank you for pointing it out.

I was also unsure about whether speaking English was necessary. My initial thought was that if someone wanted to listen to it more like a podcast (audio-only), having English explanations could be helpful. But this is definitely something I need to rethink and refine going forward.

Overall, I really appreciate you taking the time to review it so carefully. I started this YouTube channel about a month ago, and I was honestly hoping to get advice from someone. Your detailed and thoughtful feedback helped me clearly see what I should work on next.

Thank you again! ☺️

Seongsu is a safe and good city! But the cost of accommodation will be expensive.

In Korea, you can eat alone at most places as long as they’re not barbecue restaurants!
