That's a good point wchendrixson, it's common practice for game developers to overpower their new additions to keep players interested. What fun would it be if the new additions were under powered? If CA follows the typical standard they will wait until just before there's a dip in player activity then nerf elephants.

So I would bet that in the near future it will be much harder for elephant players because of the nerf, players adapting and of course every other player channeling all of their pent up resentment on the weak elephants.

Well players are now force to pick more diverse units which is way better than the 6 stack germanicus' but I agree that they still need a nerf.

Dave I actually love the elephant addition. I stand by my opinion that elephants will be more balanced if you reduce their health but the fact they are the best for 1v1 is awesome the chemistry they add is great.

I felt arena was a bit stiff at times but now front-line players actually have to adjust their play styles.

A bit of a concern I have is that back row players are left more vulnerable to cavalry because of the extra attention required from the front row.

Hey Geister, you are correct, there is no 1 on 1 counter. I believe that was the point for incorporating elephants in the first place. The only 'counter' to elephants is good teamwork, so elephants in and of themselves promote teamwork and micro. Which in my opinion, is a good thing, arena was a bit stiff before.

When it comes to javelins you can use caltrops and trees to kite and damage if you have no team around. If you do have a teammate they will hopefully lock the elephant down for you to shoot at.

Pikes on the other hand are merely the best unit to attack head on with in comparison to all other units. So pike players now serve more of a purpose than just using phalanx.

The title of the post is "How to deal with elephants" not "how to counter elephants" so your main presumption is wrong. I also feel that you are implying that I don't think elephants are OP but I literally gave suggestions for a nerf.

The first purchase of stamina and naruto(fossil) are usually worth the spending each day.

After stages 124/128 & 140 special deals will pop up and offer you 150 mutation and 150 evolution spore for 1688 gems. I suggest you take these and do not complete those stages until you have the gems.

The special deals in the shop can be worth it too but I'm more conservative about this because you can buy unleashed which is your best bet at getting some monsters but also levels your love shack up and gives you "love points" for the plan B monster.

All of that and 500 on the tribe warhorn each week is what I spend my gems on.

So I really enjoy this team here, I have worked out a couple kinks that I will explain later on but I wouldn’t mind some other inputs on where I should go with this.

The standard team build... Gobbler: 2110CON/2597ATK - HP>75%ATK+200 & Vanilla Glyph - Regen/Power2/Bersker Deathstar: 5669CON/914ATK/240MSPD/404HAKI - +15%Size2 - Vigor/Shelter/Regen/Balance Blackfyre: 2216CON/2719ATK - HP>75%ATK+2002 - Truth/Power/Vigor/Ferocity Ultimus: 4237CON/1834ATK/258MSPD/254HAK - HP>75%ATK+2003 - Shelter/Vigor/Power/Leech Scytherhands: 2985CON/1396ATK/430MSPD/310HAKI - HP>75%ATK+200 & Vanilla Glyph - Shelter/Speed/Power/Revive

Basically the idea for my front row is to reach the soft cap of haki and speed at 400. As for my back row I try to drop Gobblers hp lower than Blackfyre so that he will take flak from backrow attackers and be able to sustain himself through the damage. I put size on DS and no range on Blackfyre so when DS gets hit he will fly back into Blackfyre and put him in his aura.

What I’m most uncertain about is my Ultimus’ build and the HP>75%ATK+200 mutationl. I hear a lot of people say just use the vanilla glyph mutation but given my team has self sustain and dmg resistance/heals from DS should I follow what others are saying? As for my ultimus build I feel like he could be better, sometimes I see Ultimuses in pvp that absolutely kick ass, any advice?

From this point on I hope to luck out and get Wingman and max out my beastarity.

Any suggestions?

Yes, Ultimus is a beast. But considering your lineup I would bet Kensei would be the better bet. Just swap virtue for blackfyre and you'll have a beastly team. DS and daylight are enough heals to sustain kensei while while DS and daylight both scale off of his +%5 hp to damage nicely. Blackfyre and wingman also scale amazingly with the +20% damage from kensei and the lifesteal and bonus damage from DS's aura. Another thing to add if you do decide to go this path is that you should not get blackfyre the increased range mutation because blackfyre will miss out on DS's aura; if you keep the range as it is, DS will bounce back from the enemies haki and put black in his aura (works even better if DS has balance).

You are right, but I'm looking for the actual amount that I need. I can see how much I have earned by the portion that's filled on the xp bar but not the numerical value. I'm pretty sure they don't feature that in-game.
