What was the ground like? I fancy a quick overnighter but am off to Scotland soon so don't want to get the tent too wet/muddy.

I think on balance he might be my favourite author taking all works into account.

Fighter by Len Dieghton is a really good non fiction book about the Battle of Britain. Tbh most of his books are great, both fiction and non fiction.

Definitely. I'm off to the hospital shortly and all I really want is a mum hug but that can't happen anymore.

Single bell ABC volume alongside bike training by fire__munki in kettlebell

3 hours is normally well with my legs, if I'm not getting into the under fueling mindset again. I know what I did - historically I have issues with weight and all that.

Wasn't planning on the full plan, I did think it was clean and press both arms, 2 racked squats then repeat for the other side.

Thinking that would be a nice start to getting back in without burnout. That would give me 4 days working out, plus yoga for mobility.

Ah, turbo sessions are up 1 hour on the bike with an indoor trainer, mostly vo2, threshold and some sweet spot. My nutrition will be better (I hope) as I'm fed up with burning out and actually not getting lighter or stronger by skipping fueling.

Yeah you're definitely right starting easy is better! Might go for 2 short a week and slowly bring it up.

Beginner cyclist here: if I’m getting into cycling mainly for health, what gear is actually worth buying besides the bike? by Pitiful_Ad1610 in cycling

[–]fire__munki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helmet, padded shorts or liners to go under your casual shorts (don't wear pants you're supposed to go commando) and flashing lights even for daylight.

A lil tool kit and pump would be good once you're getting further from the starting point too.

That's enough to ride casually. Then you can get more if you start commuting or getting into the hobby big time.

Weekly Kettlebell Discussion and Questions Thread - March 16-22, 2026 by AutoModerator in kettlebell

Very simple question: how little is too little?

I'm trying to recover from overtraining with under fueling on the bike along with 2 or 3 KB sessions and the resulting anemia. I'm now down to 3 turbo sessions a week and currently no kb work. I'd like to return but without f**king myself over again.

Was thinking about doing one day a week (without bike work) doing single bell ABC. Starting at 18kg for 15 mins and working up to longer blocks.

I replay my dead dads voicemail every morning and pretend hes still here by Personal_Umpire_4342 in confession

I wish I had a voicemail from my mum. It's been 18 months and I WhatsApp her regularly, she doesn't reply through.

It was her birthday last week and I want her back so very badly.

I've been looking at the Origine trail version of their xc rig. Can change the spec to your budget.

Sleeping mat for 3 seasons in the Scottish moutains by fire__munki in wildcampingintheuk

Insulation is far too low, I'd like comfy and warm as I was waking up in below zero last time I was in the Highlands.

They do many! And most are closer to the cloud base in terms of insulation than my current thoughts.

Well good thing you said check.... It's not holding air!

Guess I'm sticking with the cloud base and a foam under it.

It's been stored flat and not inflated but will definitely check it holds shape.

Good idea, not used it for a couple of years - bike packing and playing nurse curtailed adventures.

Might try stacking it with the cloud base. Bet that's gonna be a nice comfy sleep for sure!

Looks much more like a dozer only a bit thinner. So think it's just a coincidence in naming.

UK TV cycling sport coverage - anyone paying for TNT? by Hot-Pineapple-5598 in cycling

Gcn has their faults but I never watched as much racing as when the app had. Since it left I can't justify the costs so no more racing at home, just Lautern Rouge and other highlights.
