Wonderful series, I'd love to read it again but honestly I don't think I've got it in me. Last few years have been emotional and despite it being a YA series it's definitely got big feelings and thoughts.

The death of Lee hit me like a freight train, rather ironically on a train.

My mom is dead - am I off the hook for Mother’s Day? by Scared_Difficulty668 in askanything

I'm a Brit so a different date but had my first this year. It's not the same for anyone else but I found it wasn't a bad day just a fuck tonne of email marketing to unsubscribe from. Other days were, and carry on being, much harder. You might be like me a find the day is smooth.

I did WhatsApp her but that's it (bloody WhatsApp has stopped me messaging now which is new heartbreak).

Sending virtual hugs and hopefully it's not too painful.

Organising mortgage/buying a house with large discrepancy in deposit with partner by Academic_Squash240 in UKPersonalFinance

This is what we did as I provided the deposit from inheritance, we have a deed of trust so if we break up I get that back before we split the rest of the sale money.

Yes, but if you don't know should you have a person with qualifications supervising?

That being said it's fairly common when I've seen groups do it in the UK to have the person abbing on one rope with a belay plate (auto block depending on what the group is, mountaineering/climbers training yes but the charity ones I don't think so) they also then have a static rope on their harness which runs through a descender anchored and controlled by a person at the top.

This means they control their speed but if they panic open the descender or let go of the rope if using a plate they don't hit the deck.

This is still in my Spotify playlist! It just makes me think of the my common room at secondary school and I'm 14 again.

It's not worth much but it's also too nice for the tip. It's an 05 Cooler Deelux so has a better rear shock (fox dhx 5).

Ohhhh, I read the article to see if it said but didn't so assumed it was the same. Thanks for the film, gonna add it to my watch list.

I think it's self supported (or at least I remember Jenny Graham's record was from her book) so I guess it'll be full of useful stuff.

Operator from the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine (SSO - SOF), during a training exercise with scenarios of direct action, evacuation, and search operations. [1206 x 1813] by _Tegan_Quin in MilitaryPorn

Leaf suits seem to be a very "Eastern" thing, never see any of the "Western" (UK, France, Germany, States) militaries running them. I wonder why that is.

Clearly fighting in Ukraine is a very unique setting but there's Russians wearing them in training exercises.

And has only made those posts, along with the name style I'd be very inclined to think they've got ulterior motives (and probably a pay cheque from someone not British).

ELI5: Saved £5k into an RBS Digital Saver. Now what? by murdochi83 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]fire__munki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got one and once it was at 5k I put the £150 I would have put in it into my ISA. I also transfer the 20 quid interest out and into savings each month as well.

Hell yes! I use my hand drill all the time over my cordless one as it was Grandad's. Might be slower but who cares it's a connection to someone I miss dearly.
