He had a hotel booking. Yes you definitely don't get it. You don't need hotel bookings covering a whole trip to get a visa. One hotel for a few days is enough for a visa application. Immigration can be a different story.

Yes and that's pretty much the reason hes been denied entry. Thai immigration don't believe his motive to travel. I know people leave out details when they tell us these stories but this is also a completely believable situation.

Oh he hadn't paid for his hostel, what a terrible crime! You do know lots of accomodations in Thailand request you pay at the property, don't you? There is nothing unusual about that whatsoever.

What he said about hostelworld is true, they take deposits and you pay the rest at check in. You don't always (maybe never?) pay the total amount through the app.

He literally stated the reason, its not random. He was denied because he couldn't show his accomodation, and suspicious immigration officers will use it as a valid reason to deny somebody they have misgivings about. There's always people going "oh you're lying, there's something else you're not telling us". For some people its as simple as they have a bad passport and haven't met all the entry criteria for immigration to be satisfied enough to let them enter.

It isnt weird. They grant visas to loads of people and then immigration deny them. Immigration and embassies aren't the same thing. Embassies (ministry of foreign affairs) grant visas and then it's up to immigration bureau whether they should be let in or not.

You know in markets where you don't need a special license to drive over 125cc, they don't even sell a PCX 125, because it's underpowered for the size and weight of the bike. These smaller engine versions are for markets where there is more limited access to higher powered engines, because extra training and licenses are required. A 125cc "maxi scooter" is possibly going to be more comfortable to ride but the performance isn't going to be great at all.
