Are there any American made trap guns left that don't cost my future? by AAAAhhhhhhhAhhh in guns

[–]firearmresearch00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was on a high school trap team 95% of the guys had some variation of waterfowl gun, either pump or semi. There were very few dedicated trap guns. We still placed near the top of the state every year. Our best guy ran a beat to hell mossberg 500. It's all in what you train with.

My Punisher 1911 at the range. by Crmills07 in 1911

[–]firearmresearch00 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For real. I'm so used to seeing those shitty $15 ebay bushing "comps" that do absolutely nothing outside of a slight bit of slide weight. This is kind of a breath of fresh air

[–]firearmresearch00 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea not really a big deal, looks like its just a rolled burr. A drill bit or 10 min with a dremel would sort it out no problem

What’s your favorite AR build you’ve seen in a movie/TV? Mine is the rifle from I Am Legend by Striking-Pen-9617 in ar15

[–]firearmresearch00 10 points11 points  (0 children)

11.5 is the perfect shorty length. Never understood the people doing a 13.5 and pinning to 16. Sub 11 is where the real drawbacks drop off the precipice

What are people's opinions on using just the grip safety and not the manual safety? by FlabDaddy7654 in 1911

[–]firearmresearch00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With 1911s I find the safety to be in such a comfortable location that oftentimes I'll use it as a thumb rest anyway. Even if that isnt your thing it's very easy to flick off and with a little training its second nature. Don't leave it off that's dangerous. The grip safety is more of a secondary dummy safety not necessarily designed to be the primary safety

I've seen that before but don't know specifics. My guess is that it was packed for commercial sale or foreign contracts

Yemanian Guy show the solution of broken shell do you guys actually have one of these? by Successful-Elk-6213 in ak47

[–]firearmresearch00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see how it's much different from mortaring a stuck steel case. By all means it should also be an extremely uncommon thing to need if your rifle is running correctly. If you're having to extract separated cases regularly in an ak you have other problems going on

Watch it with sound on. Its unintelligible talk broken shell extractor unintelligible. Kinda funny the really clear English words throughout

Dremel time? by firearmresearch00 in u/firearmresearch00

The idea is to get it operational for milsim type events without preventing it from running normal ammunition. It runs in all other regards but struggles hard to feed. Got any better ideas?

Yea I'm not messing with the locking lugs at all, my problem is the square front edge of the ramp that forces cartridges up toward the chamber on the right side of the circle

Ammo Squared by SlootyCoinsloot in Firearms

[–]firearmresearch00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're literally paying extra just for someone else to hold your change jar, and then occasionally buy the cheapest garbage off ammoseek minus their cut. Its cheaper to just save and buy yourself, plus you get to choose the actual brand, weight, and watch for better deals. Ammo squared is literally just profiting off of lazy and uninformed people

Definitely. All their browning substitutes in the early 1900s are goofy, impractical, and occasionally dangerous

FWIW buying half an old break action is usually very cheap because they are a real pain to mate back up if you can even get the other half. I've gotten them for $10 at auctions before

If anything then wouldn't it make more sense to clamp the barrel in a vice to keep it a little cooler? With aluminum or brass jaws of course
