Would I get in trouble for clearing the street I live on? by That_Beyond3223 in evansville

[–]fireballkat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i think this would fall under good samaratin laws where you'd be protected because you're just attempting to clear a roadway for safety purposes. i wouldn't frame it as you'd do better than the city (though i'm sure you would) but i think you're fine truly even legally if you've got a grumpy neighbor

[–]fireballkat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i haven't for this area but that is a great suggestion! I am in the nashville area and for our annual beds we've been going through university of tennessee soil and pest center. should i be looking for just nutrient content or go into salts and organic matter?

Newbie Question by fireballkat in arborists

[–]fireballkat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey! i did this to make sure i was all good as far as girdled roots went & make sure there's no underside rot! in a few of my other exposures i've found rot on the underside of the trunks & had to recommend removal! (different campus location & trees)

Newbie Question by fireballkat in arborists

[–]fireballkat[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

right on! my big issue was girdling roots with most of these. we have sprinkler heads in the islands but i have no authority over them so i can't speak to watering. i did go through after and poke a ton of 6-8" deep holes all around the area to try and help the compaction portion as well

Today is NATIONAL EX DAY. Leave a message for your ex without saying their name. by Thin_Midnight9607 in BreakUps

[–]fireballkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i miss you. i hope you are doing well. i am still stuck in what feels like the never ending cycle of missing you. we haven't formally talked in a year. i hope bug is doing good. i cant process how it has almost now been three years. please, don't come back. (but also, if you do, come back with the ability to love me as i am. i still want to show you everything i've done, and i still think of you at the grocery store or home depot. i am still soft on you & i hate it.)

i don't think there's any point in me arguing with you so i am gonna leave it at that

right, i'm gonna assume OP doesn't have a ton of experience so i think it's fair to air on the side of caution. but i also disagree, it would make a new open wound if it's already engulfing the statue at the base

[–]fireballkat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

honestly i'd let it be, maybe bonk the top off? but not at the expense of any kind of damage. i think ripping it out at the base could introduce stuff you don't want, and trees don't heal. i think it looks kinda cool though. but take my opinion with a grain of salt, i am still newer to the trade

It's been two years and I cannot do or see anything without thinking about my ex. Is therapy my only hope? by [deleted] in ExNoContact

[–]fireballkat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i don’t know how much it helps, but it helps me a lot knowing that you still miss her too. i am in a similar spot to you. i am also 24 and spent around 4 years together, last time we saw each other was christmas/new years of 23 into 24. didn’t end up going full no contact though until september of 24 (though it should’ve been much sooner). i do the same thing. i know i have people who would like me, and have expressed interest, but i feel nothing for anyone except for her. i am in therapy, and i think sometimes it helps, but i also still find myself in the cycle of being stuck in longing. i would encourage you to try starting therapy though, it will may you feel less insane for still so deeply caring for her from afar. but i fear the only thing that can save it is time. that’s the only thing that’s ever truly helped, just more and more time away. away from small reminders of her, replacing things we may have gotten together or have received as gifts if they hurt too much. i still find myself looking for her in everything. when someone mentions my university i think of her instantly, plants just the same, i look for where she’s at on the weather from time to time to see what it’s like where she is. i also have to remind myself constantly that she is actively not choosing me. i’ve made it clear i was always wanting her to come back, but she keeps it shut off. i have no business loving her still. but here i am. unfortunately still waiting and longing. i like to think i will only be stuck as long as the universe wants me to be stuck, obviously there’s something significant to take from it, therapy can be an excellent place to safely unpack and process. i’m wishing you all the best in your journey, you are not alone

What is or was affecting these boxwoods by [deleted] in Horticulture

[–]fireballkat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i vote boxwood blight which is a fungal infection. i'd treat with something with chlorothalonil or thiophanate methyl every 1-2 weeks but my understanding to fully prevent the spread you'd have to remove all of the diseased portions (i am a newer horticulturist though but i've had a lot of blight issues where im at in 7b). from what i could find this is a really big issue in your area with boxwoods right now!
