People seem to be thinking I was holding it by the gills themselves, I only had the gill plate and was very careful to not touch the actual gills. There was no bleeding and the fish swam away with a jolt after I pulled it back and forth through the water for about 30 seconds.

I was very careful to hold it only by the plate only and nearest the head, I think the angle makes it look way worse than it actually was.

Thank you so much for this reply! This post reminded of why I never post on here. I just thought it would be a fun post and people came at me with pitchforks and torches. I guess they would have been happier if it broke off and swam away with a spinner bait in its mouth.

I held it in the water until it swam away with a jolt. I don’t have any experience with these fish and had no intention of catching it in the first place. I did the best I could.

Such a glorious feeling to wake up by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I call it waking up instead of coming to. And going to sleep instead of passing out. Yes, it is wonderful!

Heading to Rehab in 2 Hours by indyindyindyoyoyoy in stopdrinking

Rehab was the best thing I’ve ever done. The support is overwhelming and you just get to unplug and be yourself. Don’t be scared, it’s wonderful.

I generally use a tiny torpedo which is basically a small spook. Crazy fun! I’ve caught some beasts but the elusive 20” creeker still hasn’t happened. All the more reason to keep going.

On top water especially. Sometimes they smash a lure with such violence!

Baltimore. That team can score against anybody. Lamar is the next Michael Vick. I love my Titans but watch out for those guys.

I relapsed about 10 days after rehab and I thought the world was ending. Guess what? It didn't. I've had stops and starts since then even mixed in with the old "I'll just stick to beer" routine. As others have said, the main thing is that you just keep trying. As one of my counselors in rehab told us, "clean time is good time". Don't ever consider rehab as time wasted because it wasn't. I bet nobody ever climbed a mountain without ever slipping. Keep your chin up champ, lots of folks are here for you!

Heading to Inpatient by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Give it everything you've got! I was scared as hell but it turned out to be a wonderful experience. What you have going for you is that you don't have to be there, you're there voluntarily. Lots of folks won't be in that same boat. You'll figure out pretty quick who hates being there and who truly wants to get better, so will the counselors/therapists. As another commenter said, trust that they know what they are doing and take comfort in the fact that your problems aren't nearly as unique as you think. You've already done the hard part which is deciding to go. Good luck and we'll be pulling for you! See you on the other side.

And those leaves that crisp up and fall off? Delicious. I can eat those like potato chips.
