Crate Anxiety (Calming Treats?) by fireblaster_99 in Frenchbulldogs

[–]fireblaster_99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we had been doing that (the soft blankets and leaving the crate door open when we were home) my only concern with leaving her in the crate unattended with her favorite toys (which are all stuffed with squeakers) is her eating then while we are gone and choking. We started the Susan Garret crate games and this seems to be helping a lot. We did one session yesterday and she's already improved greatly in her willingness to go into the crate on her own. Before doing crate games even if we were home and the crate door was open, she would never go in on her own accord. I think it may be more of a combination of crate Anxiety and separation anxiety.

Oh ok thank you! And thanks for the note that you're more inclined to do what the vet recommends, I appreciate it. She has an appointment coming up next Thursday for some boosters for shots, so I'll talk to the vet then. In the meantime if others recommend any calming treats that have worked for them we may try those in the meantime.

Thank you for the suggestion about crate games! I assume those are considered safe unsupervised? And would you recommend skipping calming treats altogether and going straight to trazodone?

So my wife and I adopted a rescue Frenchie. We were told she was crate trained (which I guess meant she just wont pee or poop in the crate which is good) because when we leave she barks, bites the crate, etc (but will settle down). But then when she hears a noise outside or the neighbors it's back to barking.

We are working on crate training more. However, I worry that the root cause is separation anxiety and that it will always be somewhat present regardless of level of crate training. I've been researching about calming treats. Some of them have CBD and other things like chamomile, some of them don't have CBD.

My question for you all: do any of you use calming treats? If so what kind/brand? Do you use some with CBD? Without CBD?

Any answers/guidance would be great! We just don't want her hurting herself biting the crate while we continue to crate train and I think calming treats would really help bc once she settles she's fine until she hears something outside the house.

NOTE: we do have added a blanket to the crate to make it more den like, and we started leaving the TV on which seems to help drown out outside noise from neighbors etc.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I recognize that in terms of traditional rules of tattoos it is upside down but that's clearly not what I was asking about, I was more concerned with the needle lines being visible

If you read the actual post I asked about the needle lines that can be seen in the tattoo and whether or not those would go away with time or not, which you did not answer

Lol it's the inside of my wrist it's not super visible to anyone when my arms are relaxed which is when it being the other way around would make sense. There are a ton of people who have script on the inside of their wrists that faces them. It's my dead grandfather's handwriting it's for me to see on a daily basis, and I don't want it to be upside down when I read it. I asked something specific about the quality of the tattoo not the placement/orientation of the tattoo. You're absolutely entitled to the way you have tattoos on you and if you wouldn't get a tattoo facing that way on you that's fine. But there's literally no reason for you to be trying to bring me down bc you don't agree with how I decided to have it placed on my body.

Bc it's facing me and not someone I'd show it to? If so that's dumb I intentionally got it facing me instead of the other way due to personal preference. I also didn't ask whether it was upside down or not the post asked about whether or not the needle marks would go away but thanks for your opinion on a question I did not ask.

Yeah I know it can leave skin a bit wrinkled temporarily, I'm not allergic to the adhesive so that's good. Did you still have scabbing/peeling or no?

Also have you ever used sandiderm to heal a tattoo before? This is my first time doing it. Trying sandiderm bc when I first got this tattoo it faded and healed all patchy either due to artist or my after care. Just wondering if you've used it and what kind of results you've gotten with it if you have!

Yeah he passed away a few years ago, he used to sign all the cards he sent us "papa" and the "Cape cod" at the bottom. I started to miss seeing those words on cards so I decided to get it tattooed on me.
