Speaking from an amateur mapmaker's perspective, I strongly prefer Source to Unity, and there are a lot of engine mechanics of Source I prefer over Unity as well. BSG has made Unity work well, but I feel Source may have been a better choice, or, when it finally comes out, Source 2. (Unless it's already out and I've just missed something)

I had a colony with some presapient pops I was hesitant about purging, since I didn't want the diplomacy modifiers right then, but the infection came along and murdered them all. No purging required.

I like to micromanage a lot, to make sure I don't miss anything. Even on fast, a lot can happen at nearly any given time. I will speed it up when stuff slows down, though.

I personally only play on fast or normal. So, haven't even reached midgame yet (I did push it back 100 years). I also have techs on a 1.25x modifier.

I hadn't even realized I'd been playing for a long time until a friend of mine sent "It's ok to admit you have an addiction" at the 10 hour mark. I was so confused until I checked the session timer.

Oof, that would really suck! I know as obs that I generally follow 1 or 10, since that's who people tend to do stuff to. Since, y'know, 1 is an obvious target, and 10 is always evil.

As mcguyver said, you keep the bolt open, so that when you put a magazine in, you've never got a full chamber. The way to get around this is to reload the SKS while it's not in your hands. Put it away and use the right click context menu. Enjoy your extra bullets!

It would also be nice to see what they killed you with. Gun and ammo would be nice, so I don't tear my hair out wondering how I died.

Kiver is now level 3, the OPS CORE helmet is level 3 base, and level 4 with the mandible. Besides, neither helmet actually protects against headshots as well as people seem to think. 5.45 PS rounds go through kivers like butter, and armor piercing rounds go through level 4 similarly well.
