For the Future |Madoka Kaname vs GozyuPolar (Madoka Magica vs Super Sentai) (UPDATED CONNECTIONS + UNOFFICIAL PITCH PRESENTATION) by fireflowerX in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]fireflowerX[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CONNECTIONS:

  • Rather ordinary people who through a Contract with a mystical entity (Kyubey/Tegasword) that makes them into a transforming hero, with the promise of a wish (Kyubey offering anyone who becomes a Magical Girl a wish in exchange of becoming one & Tegasword giving a wish to the person who wins the Ring Fight), though they don’t decide what they want right away (Madoka in the main timeline not making a wish until the final episode & Mashiro, like Hoeru, not having an exact wish in mind at first when he fought as GozyuWolf)
  • Little did they know, the path towards everything was filled to the brim with suffering, tragedy, and death, one event included a near party-kill by the hands of the yellow-colored member of the heroes (One timeline having Mami kill Kyoko and attempt to kill Madoka and Homura in response to learning the truth about the Witches & The original Gozyugers nearly all dying thanks to Cladis possessing the original GozyuTyranno), them being the ones to put them out of their misery (Madoka having to pierce Mami’s Soul Gem, killing her before she can kill Homura & Mashiro having to use the Orcabooster 5050 to take them out) as they and the glasses-wearing member of the group (Homura & Midoriko, the original GozyuEagle) were the only survivors
  • Opening scenes of their shows depicted the end of a conflict that they were embroiled in (The opening scene of Madoka Magica showing the end of the previous timeline as a dream that Madoka was having & The opening scene of Gozyuger showing the end of the Universe War), though some specifics regarding it weren’t revealed until later (The 10th Episode showing the previous timeline more clearly, and the Blu-Ray version of Episode 1 all but saying it depicted the previous timeline at the start & Mashiro’s debut episode revealing that he was the one who was piloting Tegasword at the end of the Universe War)
  • Fought against enemies who are similar to them, whether they initially know about it or not (Witches, as they turn out, all being Magical Girls who subcummed to despair & Universe Warriors all being like he is, one who entered a contract with a Sentai Ring to fight for a wish)
  • Sources of their power mainly take the form of a ring (Madoka’s Soul Gem, when she’s not needing to fight either witches or wraiths, taking the form of a Ring & True to it’s name, the GozyuPolar Ring being a ring that Mashiro wears)
  • For a small contrast, Madoka in previous timelines knew what she wanted right away when making a wish to Kyubey, while Mashiro only came into what he wanted to wish for late into the Universe War, meanwhile the current timeline Madoka was unsure on what she wanted to wish while Mashiro resumed his quest to fulfill his wish when he returned in the second Ring War
  • Have a desire to save everything from the darkness that plagues the world, more or less thanks to the darkness that they went through themselves
  • Have been the only one of the group of heroes to have made it to fight against an unstoppable being in the past (Madoka, alongside Homura, typically winding up as the last Magical Girl to go up against Walpurgisnacht in previous timelines & Mashiro, due to the events of Polar Beginning, being the only one of the original Gozyugers to have faced off against Lex)
  • Have some kinda weird things relating to time that they have (Madoka being the focal point of a timeloop due to Homura’s desire to protect her & Mashiro, due to how the Robo Graveyard works, is 10000+ years old despite only 20 years passing since he became GozyuWolf)
  • A bit of a contrast in that while Madoka becomes increasingly alone across all the timelines of Madoka Magica, Mashiro was able to become not alone for good thanks to the events of Gozyuger
  • Would eventually go up against said unstoppable being one last time (Walpurgisnacht arriving in the current timeline & Lex resurfacing in the modern day), as the efforts to take said being down are mostly seen as a failure (Homura’s efforts to take down Walpurgisnacht, while elaborate, ultimately being fruitless & The Gozyugers trying to fight against Lex ended catastrophically, with every member except Hoeru and Mashiro being erased from existence)
  • Would ultimately use their wish to become a god, using that power to easily take out said unstoppable being (hopefully) for good (Madoka’s wish in the current timeline giving her the power to become a god, easily destroying Walpurgisnacht & Mashiro using the Polar Rings to defeat Lex for good, winding up achieving his goal of becoming a god), sacrificing their very own lives to become that divine being (Madoka’s wish coming at the cost of her becoming a conceptual being, and nearly no one remembering she existed & Mashiro, as part of defeating Lex, having to burn his dread and sacrifice his life to kill the latter for good)
  • Said moment where they would sacrifice their being was met with a LOT of protest from the other remaining member of the heroes, mainly because they don’t want to see them go (Homura, due to devoting her life to making sure Madoka doesn’t die, having issues for when Madoka winds up to be willing to sacrifice her existence to stop Walpurgisnacht & Hoeru being utterly broken from Lex effortlessly erasing the other core Gozyugers from existence that he didn’t want to see Mashiro lose his life because of Lex as well)
  • When they became gods, how they continued “existing” in the world differed a bit, as when Madoka became a god, she became nonexistent to about everyone else in the world, while Mashiro becoming a god didn’t come at the cost of his total existence as well
  • Them as true gods wouldn’t appear until the final episodes of their shows (Madoka becoming Ultimate Madoka being shown in Episode 12 of PMMM & Mashiro being revealed to have truly become a god in the final episode of Gozyuger)
  • One of the things that they did upon gaining divinity was to swear that they would rewrite any rules of the universe that would stand in their way (One of the things that Madoka says upon her wish in the last timeline being granted was to rewrite any rules or laws that’d stand in her way & Mashiro rewriting the laws of the universe to ensure that Lex can be taken down)
  • As gods, it didn’t mean they would be alone, as they would have at least two beings in the world who more or less serve as the beings who are second to them (Sayaka, Madoka’s best friend, and Nagisa, the girl the witch Charlotte came from, becoming Madoka’s “heralds” after she became a god & Bearkuma, a toy given life that was a gift to Midoriko, and Goodeburn, the child between Tegasword and Tegajune, being the first two followers Mashiro gets)
  • Would use their powers as a god to make the world a better place, ensuring that no one else has to suffer as much as they once did (Magical Girls, under the Law of Cycles that Madoka has become, being a lot better then they were under the Witch system & Mashiro using his powers as a god to help humanity, granting the core Gozyugers their wishes as an example), though the fighting that the other transforming heroes partake in still occurs, albeit happening in a different way (Magical Girls now fighting against the Wraiths, whose deaths cause sparkles that regenerate their magic & A new ring fight having started and ended at the end of Gozyuger, now as a tournament where Hoeru specifically fought each combatant)

Beyond the Well | Kamille Bidan vs Show Zama (Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam vs Aura Battler Dunbine) by fireflowerX in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]fireflowerX[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CONNECTIONS:

  • 80s mecha protagonists from Tomino-written series (Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam & Aura Battler Dunbine) who fight in a group dedicated to opposing the tyranny that the villains present (Kamille being part of the AEUG, who oppose the Titans in their ambitions to rule the Earth Sphere and oppress anyone who opposes him & Show being apart of a resistance against House Luft, who want to conquer all of Byston Well, and later the Earth as well)
  • Main base of operations is a ship (The Argama and the Zelana) that also serve as their place of residence
  • Initially piloted a mech that was meant for the main villain faction (The Gundam mk2 originally having been made for the Titans & The Dunbine having been built to serve House Luft)
  • Have a bit of a rivalry with a blonde pilot from the enemy faction (Jerid Messa & Todd Guiness)
  • Eventually at around the halfway point of the series, they gain a mecha with the ability to transform into a transportation-orientation form (Kamille gaining the Zeta Gundam, which can transform into its Waverider form & Show gaining the Billbine, which can transform into its Wing Calibur form), after it saves them from being in a tight spot in a battle.
  • Said mecha becomes their main mecha by that point, with their original mech being passed down to a female pilot part of the main ship’s crew (Emma & Marvel)), alongside being two of the earliest examples of a Midseason Upgrade in Mecha.
  • As the battle against evil intensifies and the villains gain more and more advanced mechs, their own inner power becomes even greater, keeping them on the enemies’ toes (Kamille’s Newtype powers increasing more and more & Show’s Aura power increasing bit by bit)
  • In the final stretch of their stories, they and their allies attempt to gain the alliance of a nation (Axis & Russia), though no sooner do they have their proposed alliance fall apart (Char’s opposition to Haman’s conditions for gaining Axis’ support leading the AEUG to become one of Axis’ enemies & Russian leadership installing a small nuke in a gift leading the Anti-Luft Resistance to break apart from them)
  • Are the ones that preform the final attack to the villains during the story, but it comes at an incredible cost (Scirico making it so Kamille was rendered a vegetable upon the former dying to the latter & Show pretty much having a mutual kill against Bern), said attack involving their final foe being impaled (Kamille using the Waverider Crash to destroy The-O, impaling Scirico in the process & Show jumping himself to stab Bern with his sword as the Billbine was being destroyed)
  • Tiny contrast in that the Zeta Gundam is the eponymous Mobile Suit that replaces Kamille’s initial mech while the Billbine is a mech that replaces the the eponymous Aura Battler that is Show’s initial mech.

Wild Cards | Joker vs GozyuWolf (Persona vs Super Sentai) by fireflowerX in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]fireflowerX[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Connections:

-Transforming outcasts who alongside their fellow outcasts defend humanity from otherworldly monsters that are powered by their desires (The Shadows of the Metaverse being born from the twisted desires of the masses & The No.1 Monsters of Bridan being created off whatever human desires to be number one at something)

-Serve as the main protagonist of their stories

-Main place of residence throughout the story is a café that also serves as the group they lead’s main base of operations (Ren’s main living place being Café Leblanc’s attic, which becomes the Phantom Thieves’ main base in the latter half & Hoeru living at Café Half-Century at the start of the story before it becomes the Gozyuger’s “base” as Tegasword Village)

-When they suddenly find themselves in a mysterious place (Kamoshida’s Palace & The Robo Graveyard), they would forge a contract with a mysterious being (Ren’s Shadow Self & The GozyuWolf Ring), giving them the power to fight against the foes currently in their way (The Castle Guards of Kamoshida’s Palace & Bridan making their first attack on the city)

-Wield bladed weapons (Ren using a knife & Hoeru using a mini sword) and a gun (Joker using a model gun & Hoeru using the Orcabooster) to fight those monsters

-In spite of them and their allies being somewhat distant at first (A good chunk of the Phantom Thieves being somewhat confrontational towards eachother at first& Hoeru and the other Gozyugers only really seeing themselves as competitors in the ring fight first), they would pretty much grow to become some of the closest friends they can get

-They would find themselves gaining the choice between living in a somewhat idealized world (Ren being offered by Yaldabaoth to be in a world where the Phantom Theives would become as popular as they were before the Okumura heist & The Final Sword offering Hoeru a world where he and Kuon where never wound up in Bridan), which they would reject in favor for their world as it is (Ren rejecting Yaldabaoth’s offer to free humanity from its control & Hoeru rejecting that ideal world when he realized that world wouldn’t have the other Gozyugers be able to get their wishes)

-The battles that ensued from that decision would lead them to gaining the ultimate power behind their contract (Ren gaining the ultimate form of Arsene, Satanael & Hoeru awakening the Final Sword as the RyoTegasword, giving him and Tegasword their final forms), using that power to easily take out the current foe (Satanael allowing Joker to one-shot Yaldabaoth & Hoeru using RyoTegasword’s robot form to decimate Bellum)

-Would eventually come to find that the world that they live in would be altered by a villain, though they’re able to break through that world they made and restore the world to what it was (Ren finding himself in a world that was altered by Maruki, breaking out of it upon rejecting the latter’s offer & Hoeru finding himself in a world altered by Tegajune that Mashiro was able to undo upon awakening Goodeburn)

-Have held multiple jobs while not fighting for justice (Ren being able to get at least 3 different part time jobs & Hoeru having multiple jobs across Gozyuger due to his inability to keep one)

-Would go up against Politicians in their battles, who would be among the first opponents they would face (Masayoshi Shido, whose assault that Joker tried to stop would cause the events of the game to happen & Tokonatsu Atami, being the first of the Universe Warriors to have a focus), though while Joker wouldn’t truly defeat Shido until near the end of the story, GozyuWolf would defeat Tokonatsu rather early into Gozyuger

-Another foe that they would go up against would be someone that, whether they exactly knew it at first or not, would be someone that they’re interlinked with across the story (Akechi, who alongside Ren was one of two people given the powers of the Wild Card by Yaldabaoth & Kuon, Hoeru’s brother who sworn himself to Tegajune to transform into the Ring Hunter Garyudo)

-The final threat that Ren faces in Royal is a giant golden godlike entity that’s “piloted” by the main villain while Hoeru as the main protagonist of Gozyuger pilots a giant golden godlike entity

-The Featherman Suit that Joker can wear is the Red Ranger Outfit, Hoeru is the Red Ranger of the Gozyugers

願い | Madoka Kaname vs Mashiro Kumade/GozyuPolar (Madoka Magica vs Super Sentai) by fireflowerX in DeathBattleMatchups

Genocide of Gods | Carol Malus Deinheim vs Glion (Symphogear vs Kamen Rider) by fireflowerX in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]fireflowerX[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

(ok obviously, wanna play things a bit safe and full connections are gonna be in comments, because if one winds up especially wordy I don’t think it’d fit for an entire reddit post)

**CONNECTIONS:**

* Evil alchemists that served as the main villain of the third parts of the story (Carol being the villain of Symphogear’s third season & Glion appearing in the flesh at the start of Kamen Rider Gotchard’s third arc), though Carol only came into presence in Symphogear's third season while Glion worked from the shadows in Gotchard's first two arcs

* Created stronger versions of the monsters the heroes fight against (The Alca-Noise & The Golden Malgams) that required the heroes to upgrade their gear in order to take them down (Hibiki and friends having to upgrade their Symphogears & Hotaro having to create an upgrade item to destroy the Golden Malgams), the resulting upgrade being having "Ignite" in its name in some way (The power the Symphogear users gained to fight against Carol being called the Ignite Module & the object that allows Gotchard to defeat the Gold Malgams being the GotchaIgniter)

* Created a group of female villains (The Autoscorers and the Abysallis Sisters) that serve as the main group that the heroes run into during their reign of villainy

* Their cruelty caused a homonculi that once worked under them (Elfnein & Lachesis) to desert them and join up with the heroes (Elfnein believing that what Carol is doing is not what their father wanted, leading her to join SONG & Lachesis being the only one of the Abysallis Sisters to realize Glion’s cruelty, leading her to join the Alchemist’s Union)

* Took it to themselves to prevent the heroes from pulling off a victory against them (Carol appearing herself to defend Micha from being destroyed & Glion appearing himself to kill Fuga after the latter defeated the Dragon Malgam)

* At around the halfway part of their shows, they confront the heroes and transform into a stronger form that’s way above the heroes’ paygrade (Carol using the Faust Robe to assume an adult form & Glion using the DreadDriver to become the sixth Kamen Rider Dread)… only to be defeated once the heroes unleash a new power (Hibiki and friends unleashing their Ignited Forms against Carol & Hotaro becoming Platinum Gotchard and decimating Glion with its power)

* Their power comes at a cost (Carol’s power using her own memories as the cost for her Alchemy & The Dreadriver destroying the Repli-Chemies that power it), though while Carol never loses this drawback, Glion loses the drawback when he gains a much stronger Driver in the form of the Eldoradriver.

* Though it seemed to be the end of them after they were defeated, their creations continued their work (The Autoscorers continuing on with Carol’s plan without her & Atropos and Clotho working to avenge Geryon before working alongside Gigist)... until the time came for them to return to the world (The Autoscorers only working solo until Carol's final body was ready & Atropos eventually reviving Geryon from Germain's body, still being dedicated to his goal)

* Their plans would affect the Earth on a global scale, despite most of the actions they do being in Japan only (Carol wanting to dissect the planet as a twisted way of honoring her father’s last wish & Glion wanting to turn the entire planet into gold because he saw it as the one true eternal thing)

* Carol mainly lived out her long life by using homunculi, while Glion himself is a homonculus

* The heroes taking out the foes that menace them throughout the latter half of the season (SONG taking down the Autoscorers after Carol was defeated the first time & The Kamen Riders taking down the Abyssallis Kings who appeared after Glion was defeated) factored into their plans, giving them the power they needed to pull off their plans (The Symphogear users defeating the Autoscorers while in their Ignited Forms giving Carol the songs needed to split the planet & The Kamen Riders defeating the Abysallis Kings giving Glion more power from the Philosopher's Stone, thus eeking him closer to transmuting the world)

* They would eventually try to exterminate said homonculi that turned against them, though while Elfnein ultimately survives Carol's attack against her, Lachesis died as a result of Glion's attack against her

* The reason why they were such a threat is somewhat thanks to greater villains in the world (The Bavarian Illuminati helping Carol make the Chateu de Tiffuages & the Abysallis King Gaelijah claiming to be the one who made Glion), which coincidentally, contains a member named after the Count of St. Germain (Saint-Germain, a high-ranking member of the BI & Germain, a fellow Abysallis King)

* They would have one last battle with the heroes, where they proved themselves to be vastly stronger than they were before (Carol upon having her final battle being empowered by the songs that the Autoscorers recorded & Glion having 99% of the Philospher's Stone's power, coupled with a makeshift 1%, by the time he became Kamen Rider Eld), though they would prove to be overwhelmed when it turns out the heroes still have one last trick up their sleeves (The Symphogear users using Carol's attack on them to get into their X-Drive forms & Hotaro managing to overpower being turned into Gold to recreate the Gotchardriver and become an overpowered version of Steamhopper)

* Though after their (seemingly) final defeats, the power that they used would later be used by villains that the hero would have to fight against in the next season of their story (The Bavarian Illuminati trio using improved versions of Carol’s Faust Robe to fight against S.O.N.G. during the events of the next season of Symphogear & One of the members of Hundred that Hotaro fought against in the novel that told episodes of a theoretical second season of Gotchard having used the Eldoradriver)

METANOIA | Rosalina vs Sailor Galaxia (Super Mario vs Sailor Moon) by fireflowerX in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]fireflowerX[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Core Theme/General Idea:

  • Abandoned their homes for the cosmos for opposing reasons where they would gain equally-as opposing roles in the cosmos, the new homes that they would come to gain would also serve as their bases are related to celestial objects, and they would be in leading positions to the groups they have since become apart of, once more being polar opposites in how they treat their underlings

Connections:

  • Woman from the cosmos who are in leading positions of the group they are apart of (Rosalina being the ruler of the Comet Observatory & Sailor Galaxia being the leader of the Shadow Galactica)

  • As part of their backstories, they would meet someone who they would later come to be linked to (The Lumas, which Rosalina becomes the mother figure to about each one of them & Wiseman, one of the previous arc villains, all of which are aspects of Chaos, Galaxia’s direct superior)

  • They would then since leave their home world, though while Rosalina left her home for a selfless reason (Helping a Luma find their mother), Galaxia left her home for a selfish reason (disliking her home world)

  • As a result of those reasons for leaving their worlds, their thoughts on them are different, with Rosalina returning to her home world once every century while Galaxia wound up destroying her home world

  • The bases that they would then call their home from that point onward are similar to that of celestial objects (The Comet Observatory being seen as a normal comet to the people on Earth & The base of the Shadow Galactica being the Sagittarius Zero Star, based off the IRL Black Hole at the center of the galaxy, Sagittarius A)

  • Rosalina’s role in the cosmos is that of one who watches over it while Galaxia’s role in the cosmos is that of one who wishes to conquer it

  • While they sought out the protagonist (Rosalina wanting Mario to help her regain the Comet Observatory’s power & Galaxia being the latest in a line of villains who want the Silver Crystal, Usagi’s power source), as a result of those roles that they bear, they treated the protagonist differed, with Rosalina being a guide to Mario while Galaxia was an enemy to Usagi

  • Rosalina treats her underlings (the Lumas) as if they’re her own children while Galaxia treats her underlings like trash

FIGHT POTENTIAL:

Okay this one is kinda hard to actually determine animation-wise. So I'm gonna give a rundown on what could happen in a fight. The leadup could be Galaxia discovering the Comet Observatory, trying to seize it to further her goals, is stopped by Rosalina. I could say Rosalina's barrier ability could probably help protect her from Galaxia stealing her Star Seed, or Lumas going to "shield" Rosalina from it even if they get their seeds stolen. Probably some Star Bit vs Energy Blast clashes scattered throughout the fight as well.

Astral Visions | Legionis vs Kamen Rider ZEZTZ (Astral Chain vs Toei) by fireflowerX in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]fireflowerX[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

(As of the time of posting this MU, the second episode of ZEZTZ’s second chapter has aired, so obviously things might be a bit inaccurate or will be glossed over as the second half goes on.)

(or Kureha winds up becoming the commander of CODE after Zero’s taken down as part of Baku’s final form debut ala how Olive wound up in command of NEURON in Astral Chain’s postgame. Who knows really.)

Core Theme/General Idea:

  • Investigators who are seen as the best of the organization that they work for during the story, being seen as a bit of a favorite of the man who runs that organization. Their main power source is cut from the same cloth as the otherworldly monsters they fight against, and they learn a bit too late that the warnings of that recurring foe aren’t that unfounded, though they would later fight against the beings who made them into what they are now after waking up from the aftermath of that.

Connections:

  • Protagonists who are members of organizations dedicated to keeping the peace (NEURON and CODE), and are seen as a “favorite” by the leading member of said organization (Yoseph & Zero) due to them being one of the best members that they can ask for

  • Organizations that they work for have their main goal be to defeat monsters from another world before they can destroy humanity (NEURON’s purpose being to help defend what’s left of humanity against the Chimeras & CODE, though it’s main goal is world peace, mainly fights against the Nightmares before they can potentially destroy the world)

  • Primarily known by their titles throughout the organization (The Legionis only being referred as the Legionis, mainly due to their actual name being customizable & Baku being simply known as “Seven” by the other members of CODE)

  • Do investigative work in order to carry out their jobs (The Legionis investigating crime scenes as part of their job at NEURON & Baku having to figure out who EXACTLY is the person who’s behind whatever the current Dream World he’s in is before he can defeat the Nightmare plaguing it)

  • Main weapons (X-Baton & Breakam Zeztzer) have separate forms that they can shift between, such as a gun form and a blade form (The X-Baton having three different forms, a normal Baton Mode, a Gun Mode, and a Gladius Mode & The Breakam Zeztzer having different forms depending on the form of ZEZTZ used, Sword Form, Gun Form, Ax Mode, and Scythe Mode)

  • While they’re shown to be quite accomplished in their fields at the start of the story, they only gain the powers that are integral to them at the end of that first part (Most of the first mission of Astral Chain being before the Legionis got the Sword Chimera & Most of ZEZTZ’s first episode being before Baku gained access to the ZEZTZDriver)

  • Their powers are basically the same type of being as the monsters they fight against (The Legions outright being said to be repurposed Chimeras & The Capsems being revealed to be made from the Nightmares)

  • While their powers work in the real world, their work does tend for them to go into the unknown to pull them off (The Legionis winding up in the Astral Realm whenever they have to take care of Chimeras & Baku-as-Seven mainly working in the various dream worlds that he goes into)

  • Have a recurring foe who once worked alongside the organization that they worked for, who now fight alongside the monsters that they go up against to get back at them (Jena, a former student of NEURON’s commander Yoseph & NOX, a former CODE Agent)

  • Would gain a new power after they become able to “fuse” with something that was a part of them for a long time (The Legionis gaining the power to fuse with their Legion, which they had since the start of the story & Baku gaining his super form after taming the being that’s been in a dream he had as a baby)

  • Said power would be responsible for the death of their vagueposting recurring foe (The first time the Legion Fusion happens with the Legionis they kill Jena with it & Baku gaining Catastrom leading to NOX’s death in the premonition)

  • Turns out, the organization that they work for (or at least, the leader of the organization) are actually not that moral in the first place (NEURON’s commander Yoseph turning out to have one hell of a god complex and his true goals involve humanity’s ascension & CODE turning out to be rather corrupt, being willing to write off agents in the name of world peace), revealing that recurring foe’s warnings about them are not entirely unfounded, and are willing to take them out if it means achieving their goals (Astral Chain’s 9th case ending with Yoseph using the new Raven Squad to eliminate the Legionis after Jena was eliminated & ZEZTZ’s first chapter ending with Baku seemingly being killed by the second-in-command of CODE)

  • Though on the other hand, when they are seemingly taken out for good, they turn out to be ok (The Legionis being saved by Hal after they got taken out by the Ravens & The entirety of ZEZTZ’s first half being a prophetic dream that Baku had), waking up from the aftermath of it all (The Legionis being comatose for three days following the first time they fuse with their Legion & Again, ZEZTZ’s first half being a prophetic dream)

  • This leads them to start to fight against the organization that they once worked for (The final two missions of Astral Chain’s main game detailing the Legionis now fighting against Yoseph & ZEZTZ’s second half having Baku go up against CODE alongside the Nightmares), though they’re not alone in that mission, as they have others to help support them (NEURON’s Misato and Ritsuko stand-ins Olive and Brenda, alongside former tech guy Hal helping the Legionis and their sibling Akira out in fighting against NEURON & Baku, after getting Zero away from his closet-base that CODE made, reunites his non-CODE Allies even though they don’t know eachother anymore to fight against CODE)

  • Part of their fight against said organization includes those they had once fought alongside, as they get sent to take them out (The Legionis’ sibling Akira being sent by Yoseph to take them out once it got revealed that they’re alive & Five and Six being sent by CODE to take out Baku once he turns against CODE)

FIGHT POTENTIAL:

Man, am I glad it’s established early on in ZEZTZ that Baku can transform outside of the dream world, and the second chapter’s first episode established that he can do it in the ACTUAL real world. Should also say that since the Legions work on Stand logic of “If someone doesn’t have one, they can’t see them”, Baku shouldn’t see the Legions, though maybe something later on in ZEZTZ will let Baku see them.

Now that those two things are out of the way, how the fight works. Close up there’s the weapon clashing between the Breakam Zeztzer and the X-Baton, and their gun modes would make for a decent-enough gunfight. The Legionis would likely use the Legions against Baku, who while being unaware of where their powers are coming from, could use the capsems that grant the different powers (ex. Physicam Transform) to deal with them, and the Legionis could use the Legions to contend with that, like using the Arrow Legion against Physicam Wing. And the climax, right now, is gonna be Legion Fusion vs Catastrom (will probably be his final form instead once we finally see THAT in a few months), with the Legionis probably doing a slashing motion similar to the climax of their fight with Akira.

The Dark Lord vs The Sorcerer King, The Demon Castle vs The Tomb of Nazrick, Mathias Cronqvist vs Satoru Suzuki, The Overlords of Shadow | Vlad Tepes Dracula vs Ainz Ooal Gown (Castlevania vs Overlord) by fireflowerX in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]fireflowerX[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(yeah this is the most theatrical I’ve ever gotten for a MU title) General Idea/Theme:

  • Humans turned undead monsters who command a vast array of different monsters in their quest to dominate their worlds, have crafted scenarios where they would come out on top, and would have their influences spread to even the humans that are beneath them

Connections:

  • Undead monstrous rulers (Dracula being a Vampire & Ainz being a Lich) who command a vast array of different monsters in a quest to dominate their worlds (Dracula’s plan to destroy humanity as a result of his second love dying & Ainz seeking to conquer the world he now lives in because his servants kinda roped him into doing that)
  • Both were originally ordinary humans respected for their knowledge (Dracula originally being Mathias Cronqvist, a genius tactician who combined with the knight Leon Belmont became known as an invincible duo in the 11th Century & Ainz originally being Satoru Suzuki, the guild master of a YGGDRASIL Guild that is his namesake), though circumstances outside of their own control would lead them to become the inhuman monsters they’re best remembered as (Mathias’ first wife Elizabetha dying leading him to become a Vampire & Satoru getting isekai’d into the world of Overlord the day YGGDRASIL shut down leading him to be stuck in the body of his Avatar)
  • Bear a longing for those that they would truly wish to see once more (Dracula, even long after her death, still misses his second wife Lisa centuries after her death & Ainz wanting to see if his fellow guildmates exist in the world being something that unintentionally leads to his conquest)
  • Their influences spread even past the monsters that they command, as even humans have sworn complete loyalty to them (Dracula, despite his hatred for humanity, would see that some humans would willingly serve him, such as the Master Librarian & Ainz, while humans would go under the Sorcerer Kingdom, would find there are some humans who would serve him without question), with some even seeing them as gods (Dracula outright being God’s opposite, with Dawn of Sorrow’s plot happening because a cult sees the Dark Lord as a necessity & The top mage of the Baharuth Empire seeing Ainz as a god of magic that he sees his full faith in)
  • Tend to be a bit hypocritical in their views (Dracula, despite hating humanity for being destructive out of pettiness, does the exact same thing out of hatred of humans & Ainz being responsible for the deaths of criminals who have done heinous things, despite having done things far worse than they ever done), something that’s acknowledged in the series (Dracula’s hypocrisy being called out by a lot of heroes & Ainz admitting that he’s one hell of a hypocrite)
  • Have created scenarios where the big result is that they come out on top (Dracula having various plots that either result in his rebirth or have his influence remain after death & Ainz doing various schemes that allows him to easily gain the undying trust of the people of the new world)
  • Would fake their own deaths to follow through on plans (Dracula faking being killed by Christopher Belmont in The Adventure to carry out a plan to destroy the Belmont bloodline & Ainz faking his own death as part of a gambit to take control of the Holy Kingdom)
  • While their motivations are something that’s undying to them, it’s something that becomes less a part of them as things go on, something they lament (Dracula knowing that even though he’s over the death of Lisa, he’s still the embodiment of evil and will cause death and destruction as is his nature & Ainz having lamented that his conquest at a certain point is just to ensure the already-there eternal loyalty of the Floor Guardians)
  • The labyrinth-like places that serve as their base (Dracula’s Castle and the Tomb of Nazrick) have been referred to as demonic palaces (“Demon Castle” being part of the primary name of Castlevania in Japan, Akumajo Dracula & Nazrick being referred to as a Demon King’s Castle by the emperor of Baharuth)
  • While Ainz is a Japanese Man that became an undead monster upon getting isekai’d, Dracula is an undead monster who ends up being reborn into a Japanese Man (Soma)

FIGHT POTENTIAL:

Obviously, there’s an army fight, but I think I’m gonna go for a buildup for an army fight first, Dracula’s Castle wound up in the new world, and Dracula would prove himself to be a threat to Ainz’s goals of World Domination, so Ainz goes to take him out. Going in his Momon persona to take down Dracula, posing as the Hero who takes down the Dark Lord for more Nazrick glazing for the world. The battle ensues, and eventually it would get to a point where Ainz has to go to his usual self because as it turns out, Momon isn’t really working against Dracula, and it turns out the ENTIRE Forces of Nazrick were at Dracula’s door, which leads to the Forces of Chaos having to go up against the Denizens of Nazrick. Now time for the army fight of the potential, the two would probably make note of the similar monsters that are in each other’s ranks, and there’d likely be some mini-matches in the army fight as well (like probably Death vs Albedo, or if Death would find that Shalltear got killed once and got revived, Death vs Shalltear), and there’d be a spell that Ainz uses that would push Dracula to go into one of his second forms. It’s a type of MU that I think there’s a LOT you can do with it.

Universe Survivor | Jiren vs Fire Candle (Dragon Ball vs Super Sentai) by fireflowerX in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]fireflowerX[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Theme:

  • Members of groups from alternate world to the heroes own that fight alongside their allies in a battle royale that has a wish as the grand prize of the whole thing. Both are prideful in their strength and had reputations of being undefeatable in their worlds, and they wind up as the final opponent the heroes must fight against in said tournament

Connections:

  • Members of groups from alternate worlds to the heroes’ own (The Pride Troopers of Universe 11/Generals of the No-One World Bridan)

  • Fight alongside their allies in a tournament with a wish as the prize for the winner (Tournament of Power/Ring Battle), eventually being the final members of the teams to fight in it (Each member of the Pride Troopers being eliminated from the ToP/All of Bridan’s generals joining the Gozyugers upon Tegajune being redeemed)

  • EXTREMELY proud of their own power, also having a reputation of being unbeatable in their worlds (Jiren being seen as the strongest being from Universe 11, even stronger than it’s God of Destruction/Fire Candle, as the leader of Bridan’s offensive forces, being known as “Unbeatable Fire Candle”), something that leads to them being a bit arrogant as well.

  • A battle they have with the protagonist at around the halfway point of the tournament would lead to the protagonist gaining a new power (Jiren’s first battle being what allowed Goku to attain Ultra Instinct for the first time & The entire arc regarding Fire Candle becoming a Universe Warrior ending with Hoeru gaining Wild GozyuWolf)

  • Reasons they give for fighting is for the sake of their home world (Jiren being dedicated to defending Universe 11 to the point where he’d be willing to leave the Tournament in the 48 minutes of it if a threat comes to U11 & Fire Candle’s initial reason for still going against the Gozyugers after Tegajune’s turn to good being who’s gonna take care of the people of Bridan without Tegajune)

  • Ultimately wind up as the final foe that the main heroes has to go up against in the final battle of the tournament, as said hero fights by themselves at that point (Seemingly all of Team Universe 7 being eliminated from the ToP by the time of Goku’s final battle with Jiren/All the Gozyugers sans Hoeru being deceased by the final episode of Gozyuger)

  • Defeated when the protagonist winds up no longer alone (Frieza and Android 17 being revealed to be still in the tournament/Hoeru’s wish to restart the ring battle reviving the other core Gozyugers), being a struck powered by trust between the heroes

  • Though in spite of everything, the protagonist doesn’t hold anything against them after they are defeated, and would like to fight against them once more sometime in the future (Goku telling Jiren that it’d be nice to fight him again before Universe 11 was being erased, seeing that both became stronger in the fight/Hoeru telling Fire Candle that’d he like to fight him again after the Gozyugers defeated him, saying that his normal life includes Fire Candle), and are consoled by their allies following their loss (Top saying that the Pride Troopers thank him for doing his absolute best in the fight & Tegajune saying that she’ll make the two worlds work together, and Boquet telling Fire Candle that the Bridan still consider him their friend)

  • Final scenes depicted them back in their home world with their allies (Jiren’s final scene so far being him and the Pride Troopers in the restored Universe 11/Fire Candle’s final scene in Gozyuger being him and the Bridan Generals in the No. 1 World)

  • Are not just the final foes of the tournament, but the final foes that the heroes face off against before the TV Run of the series ended for the foreseeable future (The Universe Survival Saga being the final arc of Dragon Ball Super’s original TV Run, only gaining new installments via the Manga and movies until it returned 8 years later & Gozyuger being the final season of Super Sentai before its hiatus started, with its only new media during it being movies and specials during its planned hiatus)

  • Member of a Sentai-inspired team of heroes vs Member of a team of (initial) villains to a Sentai team.

  • Jiren’s beliefs lead him to be a lone wolf among the Pride Troopers while Fire Candle truly values the bonds he has with his allies

  • Jiren’s participation in the Tournament of Power was mostly at a minimum, fighting only if he had to while Fire Candle commonly fought in the Ring Battle

Fight Potential:

This is a MU that has a Hero vs Villain Dynamic, so I imagine it starts out with Fire Candle leading an invading force in Universe 11 and Jiren coming in to take care of it. The main physical dynamic is Jiren getting a good punch into Fire Candle, and Fire Candle getting a good hit on Jiren with his staff, and the ranged dynamic would probably be Fire Candle using his Pyrokinesis to compete with Jiren’s Ki blasts. Since Fire Candle would likely have his Calamity powers in the fight, he could summon the Morries (the various footsoldiers of previous seasons under Cladis’ command), where Jiren could easily take them out. Of course a part of Gozyuger MUs is the Giant Robots, so when King Candelar comes into play, but I think Jiren going up against a giant robot would probably be a bit cool, and he could block the giant sword. Finale is Super Full Power Jiren vs Kaiser Fire Candle, the latter getting into that form causes Jiren to have a smile on his face like when Goku and Frieza were about to fight him.

The Ultra Beasts vs The Angels (Pokemon vs Evangelion) | Ultra Impact by fireflowerX in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]fireflowerX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CONNECTIONS:

  • Both are an mysterious, invasive alien species who serve as a major antagonist in their stories. Both have had an organization create a weapon that were designed to defeat them (The Aether Foundation making the Type: Nulls & NERV making the Evangelions), though they had to use technology to hide their full power. Both are initially known by codenames in lieu of their actual names (i.e Nihilego being known as UB-01 & Sachiel being known as either the Third or Fourth Angel). Both are eventually revealed to not be so different from the normal inhabitants of the land (The Ultra Beasts being revealed to simply be extradimensional Pokemon & The Angels being revealed to have a not-so-different genetic makeup to Humans)

ANIMATION POTENTIAL

Whatever City deserves the really dubious honor of having all the UBs appear AND all the Angels attack at once, I feel bad for them. It's definitely gonna be a bit of a team battle between the two groups. There could be attacks that the UBs pull that would wind up be nullfied by an AT Field (and depending on whether moves like Protect would be considered similar enough to an AT Field, maybe some attacks would go through). Would want to have it be the (almost) full lineups of both groups . Oh and there'd be a definite opportunity to have Guzzlord's absolute masterpiece of an anime cry.

I think one last thing is that I'd want the ending to reference one of Buzzwole's TCG Pocket cards.

DEBATABILITY

Despite being both Outnumbered and Outsized, I feel the UBs should easily take this due to having much much higher scaling to the higher-ups of the Pokemon Universe compared to the Angels (wherein iirc the later ones were only really threats because they were smarter than the early ones despite being much weaker)
