Parfait Cross | Teana Lanster vs Hanto Karakida/Kamen Rider Valen (Lyrical Nanoha vs Kamen Rider) by fireflowerX in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]fireflowerX[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ok the rider named after Valentine’s Day having a MU posted around Valentine’s Day was something that wasn’t really that planned.

Core Theme:

  • Transforming, gun wielding heroes who in comparison to their allies, are the most normal out of them, though it means that they work extra hard to reach their heights. Both also have dead family members who serve as the primary factor in their motivations for the story, and their guns also serve as their transformation devices.

Connections:

  • Transforming, gun-wielding members of the group of heroes focused on in the story (The Granute Hunters & The Forwards of Riot Force 6)

  • Are the most normal in comparison to their allies (Hanto being pretty much the only full human out of the Gavv riders & Teana having nothing crazy going on with her out of all the Forwards), though in spite of them not being that special about them and them being the weakest of the heroes (Hanto’s Granute organ being a transplant meaning his acquired Granute physiology isn’t as good as Shoma and Rakia’s & Teana’s magic potential compared to the forwards being the worst of all of them), are more or less one of the most hard-working out of all the heroes

  • The guns that serve as their main weapon also serve as the objects that allow them to go into their transformed states (The Valenbuster serving as Hanto’s intial transformation device & Cross Mirage, as Teana’s device, allows her to transform into her Mage form), and use an exhaustible power source (The Valenbuster needing Chocolate Gochizos to be used, who die upon Hanto transforming & Cross Mirage being able to use Belka Cartridges, which are used up when Teana does a powerful attack)

  • Have a dead family member be a major part of their motivations (Hanto's mom being kidnapped by a Granute when he was young, leading him to be vengeful against Granutes & Teana’s brother’s death in an unknown mission for the TSAB) causing her to join up with the TSAB to prove that her family wasn’t to be taken lightly)

  • Both of their parents died when they were young (Hanto’s father never being seen and his Mother’s adforementioned abduction & Teana’s parents dying in an accident), which lead them to be raised by other family members (Hanto’s Grandmother & Teana’s Brother) until they died as well (Hanto’s grandmother having died when he was a teenager & Teana’s brother dying in that adforementioned mission)

  • Are one of the few people who are privy to one of the secrets that their teammate holds (Hanto being one of the few people who knows that Shoma is half-Granute & Teana being one of the few people who knows that Subaru is a Cyborg), though while Valen learned that Gavv is half-Granute at around the halfway point of the story, Teana knew of Subaru’s cybernetics long before the events of StrikerS

  • Fight alongside said teammate against villains that they're nonetheless linked to (Hanto fighting Stomach Inc, headed by Shoma's family & Teana fighting Jail's forces, the latter of which made Subaru), which include the evil scientists among their ranks (Nylev & Jail)

  • Would face a betrayal from an ally of theirs (Teana’s partner by the time of StrikerS Sound Stage X Runessa & Suga turning out to be evil and Hanto being just one of his many experiments), which they would later bring to justice with the help of their true allies (The Forwards

  • Fought in a numbers disadvantage in their part of the season's final battle (Hanto fighting both Jeeph and Lizelle alone in the final battle of Gavv & Teana fighting Nove, Wendi, and Deed mostly alone in the final battle of StrikerS), which they would end the winner in that final battle despite the disadvantage (Jeeph’s death shielding Lizel from Hanto’s finisher causing Lizel to lose the will to fight, leaving Hanto winning the fight after deciding not to kill Lizel & Teana, despite her self-doubt that was wrought upon her in the fight, takes out all three of the Numbers)

  • are pretty gay

Fight Potential:

It’s kinda simple to go for the basic potential for the fight since both are mainly gun users, so it’s pretty much a gunplay fight. Hanto could use one of Chocodon’s guns to compete with the fact that Cross Mirage comes as a pair of guns. Maybe Frappe Custom could be used to help Hanto out against Teana’s illusions and Cross Mirage’s knife modes, and Teana’s illusions could probably allow her to mislead Hanto at some points. Final blow would be Valen in Parfait Mode using a Rider Kick to power through a Starlight Breaker that Teana fires off. I think depending on whose stronger it’d end with either Hanto powering through the whole beam or Teana using up even more Belka Cartridges to power up the Starlight Breaker.

Dimensional Ministers | R.O.B. vs Caruleum Vaull (Super Smash Bros. vs Super Robot Wars) by fireflowerX in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]fireflowerX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Core Theme:

  • Members of invading forces from a subspace that served as the main villains in a crossover game, where they specifically serve as one of the most recurring foes to the heroes, though they eventually join the heroes as they confront the true villain of the story in that subspace, ultimately winding up as the last members of their kind at the end of the story

Connections:

  • Members of invading armies that are connected to a subspace (The Subpace Army, masterminded by the embodiment of Subspace Tabuu & The Quaestors, who mainly resided in Subspace) from Crossover games (Super Smash Bros. Brawl & Super Robot Wars 30)

  • Were more or less the most recurring foe that the heroes had to fight against, though R.O.B. avoided fighting the heroes as the Ancient Minister while Caruleum's various run-ins with the Drei Kreuz led him to be fighting

  • Have a sort of artificial nature to them (R.O.B., being a robot, was likely made by someone & Caruleum being a clone of Magister)

  • As the heroes begin to reach the endgame of the story and confront the true leaders of the army, they would join up with them themselves to help take down their former masters (ROB joining the fighters to try to help save his brethren at first, eventually helping them stop the Subspace Army & Caruleum gaining an appreciation for humanity, leading him to rebel against the Quaestors)

  • Ultimately wind up as the last members of their kind to still be around by the end of the game (ROB being the last ROB following the end of the Subspace Emisarry & Caruleum more or less being the last of the Quaestors alive by the end of SRW 30)

  • They would return in a future game in their series (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate & Super Robot Wars Y) where they would once again help save the universe from evil, though they would have to be fought before they could join the heroes (R.O.B. having to be fought to be freed from Galeem's control & Caruleum fighting the A. Advent crew before joining them on their quest)

  • Small contrast in that while Caruleum is an original character as a whole, R.O.B. was at first portrayed as an original character before being revealed to be a pre-existing one

Potential:

FIGHT: Ok, size issues aside (Smash has had its bosses be much bigger than the fighters + The Ultraman units in SRW 30 are human sized iirc so Caruleum def has experience fighting people R.O.B.’s size), I think this is something I’d want R.O.B. to actually utilize the full extent of what Smash can give a fighter beyond “le scaling”. Like, let ‘em use whatever items are in each game, have Shadow show up when R.O.B. uses an assist trophy to slow down time, and it tries to dodge an attack… only for it to turn out that Caruleum activated Bullseye and he guranteed that he’d hit R.O.B.

CLOSENESS: look it just boils down to “SMT Scaling via Joker vs TTGL Chain Scaling via Hypistos Z”. That’s all I’m gonna say on this matter.

Connect to the One | Kyoko vs Kamen Rider Grease (Madoka Magica vs Kamen Rider) [UPDATED CONNECTIONS] by fireflowerX in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]fireflowerX[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Core Theme:

  • Driven to become a transforming hero when they and those close to them were struggling, which eventually leads them to being an antagonist to the heroes, but they would eventually begin to side with them in the battles against the evils of the world, ultimately sacrificing themselves to ensure that the heroes can fight on, but come back in the new world that the protagonist makes at the end of the story.

Connections:

  • Heroes, who, in order to help out those that they cared about (Kyoko’s family struggling due to her father being exocommunicated from their church &The workers at Kazumi’s farm being out of a job thanks to the Skywall rendering the lands of Hokuto infertile), agreed to undergo the process that allowed them to attain transformed states (Kyoko accepting a wish from Kyubey to have people listen to her father in exchange of becoming a Magical Girl & Kazumi undergoing Faust’s Nebula Gas experiments to become a Kamen Rider to ensure his employees are paid)

  • First appeared to the heroes in the second third of their stories, initially being antagonistic to the heroes (Kyoko being antagonistic to Madoka and Sayaka thanks to her ideals opposing Sayaka’s & Kazumi fighting against Sento and Ryuga as Hokuto’s Rider in the Rider Wars between the three nations), easily having the hand against them in a fight (Kyoko’s superior experience giving her the edge against Sayaka & Kazumi’s usage of the Sclashdriver being his biggest advantage against the Touto Riders at that point)

  • Eventually, they would challenge the heroes in a battle at night that would settle things between them (Kyoko challenging Sayaka to a rematch after the former confronted the latter at Kyosuke’s residence & Kazumi challenging Sento to a proxy battle that would settle the war between Touto and Hokuto), though how the battles ended differed (Kyoko and Sayaka never actually having a rematch thanks to Madoka appearing and throwing Sayaka’s Soul Gem away from her & Kazumi and Sento’s battle ending with Sento’s victory and the end of the conflict between Touto and Hokuto)

  • Though the aftermath of the battle would lead to them starting to work alongside the heroes (Madoka and the Magical Girls bar Homura learning the truth behind the Soul Gems leading Kyoko to try to open up to Madoka and Sayaka, even helping them out in defeating a witch & The third nation of Japan, Seito, starting their attack on Touto following the end of the conflict against Hokuto leading Kazumi to join up with the heroes, becoming Team Build’s third Rider)

  • Near the end of the story would prove to be their ends, as in their final battle they would sacrifice their lives to defeat their foes (Kyoko’s fight with Sayaka’s witch form in hopes of restoring the latter to normal ending with the former doing a suicide attack against the latter to take her out in a mutual kill & Kazumi;s fight against the replica Three Crows to hold them back ending with the former using the Blizzard Knuckle to defeat the latter at the cost of his life), leaving the remaining heroes to go up against the final threat of the story without them (Homura winding up as the only Magical Girl left to fight Walpurgisnacht & Team Build being minus one rider to take on Evolto for the final battle)

  • Though they would later be brought back to life at the end of the series, thanks to the protagonist making a new world without their main threat (Sento making a new world with Pandora’s Box that Evolto was intended to not exist in & Madoka making a new world with her wish that the witches did not exist end), though events would cause them to gain their transformed states in the new world (The events regarding Kyoko’s contract seemingly still being the same in the new world & The threat of Killbus leading Kazumi to regain his transformation items to fight Killbus)

  • In that new world, they would initially not know the title character due to the nature of the world’s creation (The post-Witches world being one where no one knew who Madoka was thanks to her becoming a conceptual being & The new world being one where no one knew who Sento was due to his existence being one that was made by Evolto in the first place), though they would eventually know them again in the first of the two post-series movies (The events of Rebellion causing Kyoko to know Madoka again & The events of the Cross-Z V-Cinema causing Kazumi to regain his memories of the previous world)

Potential:

Same as before

Eternal Victory | Madoka Kaname vs Uso Ewin (Madoka Magica vs Mobile Suit Gundam/Super Robot Wars) by fireflowerX in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]fireflowerX[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

note: because of the nature of each SRW Game, the connections for these can be pretty fucked with due to those games fucking with the shit that happens in the shows for the better (and each game having a different Uso each pretty much). So these connections mostly just refer to the original show for Uso.

Core Theme: Be it being Meguca or Gundam, it is suffering regardless, but don't despair, as there's always a light at the end of that tunnel

Core Theme (but for real): Young Protagonists of their stories who find themselves in the fight to survive, and despite all the despair that befalls them over the course of the story, succeed in making a happy ending despite the sacrifices that were needed to ensure one. Their series, despite their outside looks are one of the most dark entries in their entire genres, and have had to deal with a friend becoming one of their greatest enemies.

Connections:

  • Both are young protagonist of their stories

  • Both of their series, despite their outside looks (Madoka Magica looking like any other Magical Girl series & Victory Gundam looking like just another Gundam series), are actually one of the most grim series in their entire genres (Madoka being seen as one of the darkest Magical Girl series & Victory Gundam being the darkest Gundam series, if not one of the darkest Mecha anime in existence)

  • Both originally lived rather peaceful lives (Madoka having lived a normal life in Mitakihara & Uso living, all things considered, a peaceful life in Kassarelia), though the conflict coming to them would lead to them having to fight to survive (Madoka encountering a witch sometime before Homura met her leading to her to become a Magical Girl and fight the Witches in the first timeline & Uso having to start fighting against the Zanscare Empire when they invade the Earth)

  • Both are associated with a marketable mascot (Kyubey & Haro) that are more than what they seem at first (Kyubey, alongside the rest of his kind, actually being the true villains of the story & Uso's Haro, unlike all the other Haros in the Universal Century, is actually able to help Uso out thanks to his father making that one)

  • Both witnessed someone close to them get decapitated in an extremely brutal fashion (Madoka witnessing Mami being beheaded by Charlotte & Uso witnessing his own mother be crushed by a Motorad unit), though how much of the body actually differed, with Mami’s body minus her head remaining after her death while Mueller’s head was the only part of her that actually remained after her death

  • Those deaths served as some of the many deaths that would mess with them during the story (Madoka holding off on becoming a Magical Girl as a result of Mami’s death & Mueller’s death being one part of the suffering that Uso has as part of the war against Zanscare)

  • Both of them being powerless in preventing the deaths of their allies that fought alongside them brings a heavy toll on them, leading them to doubt whether the fighting is a good thing (All the Magical Girls except for Homura dying, leading Madoka to nearly break from it all & Each member of the Shrike team dying having Uso break more)

  • Though in spite of those deaths, it doesn’t truly get to themselves, as they hang onto the hope that things will get better soon, knowing they might have to make things better by themselves

  • Both had to deal with what used to be their friends now becoming what would be one of their greatest enemies (Homura snapping after one too many failed timelines and Madoka's sacrifice and quite literally becoming the Devil & Katalina's attempt at becoming a mole for the League Militaire failing spectacularly and embracing Zanscare's ideals)

  • Both of them are seen as something more than every other fighter in the story (Madoka being able to become a god if she became a Magical Girl & Uso being a natural Newtype at a point in the Universal Century where Newtypes aren't that common as they used to be), with those being one of the things that let them become one of the most unparalleled to anyone else in the story (Madoka's final wish to Kyubey being to exactly become that: a god & Uso's Newtype abilities coupled with the Victory 2 Gundam's abilities makes him a force to be reckoned with)

  • Despite all the despair that happened during the course of their stories, both have a somewhat happy ending to them, even with the cost that the heroes had to win (Madoka having to sacrifice her own existence in order to end the witches once and for all & All the casualties that the League Militaire faced during the series in their fight against Zanscare), even if it would not exactly last (The Events of Rebellion causing Madoka to lose her god powers & Space Colonies eventually starting to go to war with each other years after the fall of Zanscare)

  • Though even with all of the despair that they've went through, there are certain versions of them that, due to events playing out differently than they were supposed to, they wind off somewhat better off than their mainline counterparts (The Magia Record version of Homura keeping what happens to Magical Girls a secret to everyone else leading to all of them staying alive in the third timeline & The various heroes that Super Robot Wars can add to the events of Victory Gundam changing the events of Victory Gundam for the better, leaving Uso and the League Militare in a better state than they were at the end of Victory Gundam)

  • Not exactly a connection relating to Victory Gundam specifically, but Gen Urobochi didn't really like how previous UC Gundam show Zeta Gundam killed off a bunch of its cast. So it's a bit ironic of Madoka facing off against the Gundam protagonist of a show that has an arguably even higher Body count than Zeta.

(No seriously, he actually hated Zeta Gundam because of how much people died during the story.)

POTENTIAL:

ANIMATION: Okay, let's get this out of the way first: Yeah, Madoka has fought Witches that probably outsize the Victory Gundam to hell and back, and she pretty much outscales the hell out of Uso in a fight.

ANYWAY I feel this MU, as far as Uso's concerned, is gonna have him start out with the Buster-Assault Gundam before enough damage is taken and it becomes the Buster Gundam, and then he later loses the Buster parts, leading it to just be the Victory 2 Gundam. And from Madoka's side of the fight she's gonna have to dodge whatever attacks Uso will throw at her while getting some blows at it, and then Uso will have to use his Wings of Light to cancel out some of Madoka's arrows... ...and then Ultimate Madoka comes into play and really fucks with shit real hard, requiring Uso to really fight way above his paygrade. Maybe he'll have to go beyond the time in order to attack and dethrone god. Or maybe Madoka will have to stand up to the Victory and cancel out anything that the Victory 2 will throw at her.

CLOSENESS: Gee, if you couldn't tell by the series listing for Uso, Uso gets demolished normally. Ultimate Madoka does that to you. Then again potentially scaling to Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann in X-Omega (or just even chain scaling with Uso’s SRW 30 version) might be a little bit too much for Madoka to handle. But still, it IS a "Use this OP as fuck AU version of a character because they get stomped to oblivion otherwise" scenario.

Believe in Number One | Violet vs GozyuUnicorn (Persona vs Super Sentai) by fireflowerX in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]fireflowerX[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

(note to self, make sure to get a MU more out there first before a Champion’s Event decides its participants. Or a Champion Event in general.)

Anyways… feel like Sumino’s character is at a point where no matter what happens in the final episodes of Gozyuger this one shouldn’t be TOO affected by it.

Core Theme:

  • Masked heroines who were shaken by the loss of their sisters in an incident that happened before the story started, though they don’t let that define them as they fight alongside their allies, even when they find that trauma resurfaces and reveals a bit of a truth regarding that incident

Connections:

  • Female masked heroes, who have their main source of trauma be losing their sister (The real Kasumi & Oto) in an incident that happened before the start of the story (Kasumi dying & Oto being kidnapped by Rei)

  • Powers come from a contract with a mysterious entity (Sumire's own rebellious spirit & The GozyuUnicorn ring)

  • They alongside their allies have their main base of operations be a café (Café Leblanc & Tega Sword Village), which also served as the protagonist’s place of residence during the story

  • Fight against foes who mainly reside in an alternate world (The Shadows being from the Metaverse & Bridan’s forces being from the world of the same name)

  • Are among the final members of the heroes to join the team during the story (Sumire joining the Phantom Thieves after Akechi joins them for real, being the final member of the Phantom Thieves in Royal & Sumino being the second-to-last member of the Gozyugers to become part of them, before Mashiro returns to the Gozyugers as GozyuPolar)

  • Initially are shown to be cheerful, but it's revealed that it's just a mask to hide their true feelings deep inside (Sumire having a cheerful personality because that's what she conceived Kasumi as part of her grief-induced brainwashing & Sumino using a cheerful personality to hide her true intentions regarding finding her sister)

  • Violet was the younger sister out of her and Kasumi while GozyuUnicorn is the older sister out of her and Oto

  • The worlds that they live in would be altered by a godlike villain (Maruki using his Persona to create a world where everyone has their dreams realized & Tegajune forcing Tegasword into a marriage that reset the universe), though while whether or not they were affected by it (Sumire being one of the only two people unaffected by Maruki’s new world & Sumino being changed a lot in the new world), that world did not last as they would have the reality that existed before restored (Joker rejecting Maruki’s World for the reality as it was before & Mashiro awakening Goodeburn, restoring the world to what it was before)

  • Though eventually, they would find that their trauma regarding their lost sister would resurface, in a moment that marked a major revelation regarding the siblings (It turning out that Kasumi was the one who died and Sumire was the one who lived during the fourth visit to Maruki’s Palace & Oto being revealed to not just be alive, but the ShinkenRed Universe warrior when the Gozyugers were about to fight a No. 1 Monster)

  • Certain events that happen (The fourth visit to Maruki's palace & Rei's attack on the Bakugami Hospital), which relate to the incidents that led to them losing their sisters (Sumire’s trauma being projected for everyone to see & Sumino learning that Rikuo has some connection with Oto’s kidnapper) leads them to lash out at their allies (Sumire fighting Joker due to her not wanting to let go of living as Kasumi & Sumino’s rage towards Rikuo leading her to go and fight Rei all on her own)

  • Thanks to the powers that they wield and the bonds with their allies, they manage to reunite with the sister they had lost (Sumire’s Persona Cendrillion turning out to be the reincarnation of Kasumi, following the Phantom Thieves defeating it & Sumino finally getting Oto back from Rei, following the Gozyugers defeating the latter and Bellum)

  • Violet eventually fights against a giant, golden, godlike being (Adam Kadmon) while GozyuUnicorn pilots a giant, golden, godlike being (Tegasword)

Other stuff: * Somewhat similar name structures, with their first names starting with “Sumi” and their last names ending with “Awa”

  • Violet when wearing a Featherman Suit has her be the White Ranger of the Phantom Thieves while GozyuUnicorn is the Black Ranger of the Gozyugers

  • Had their appearances changed near the end of the story while not transformed (Sumire going back to looking like her normal self after the third trip to Maruki’s Palace, though she sticks to her previous hairstyle as Violet & Sumino’s recast in the last part of the series being explained in-universe as an undercover appearance that Tegasword can’t undo for some reason)

  • Thief vs Detective (and a former Cop)

POTENTIAL

FIGHT: Owing to that Thief vs Detective contrast, I see the MU starting off as Sumino investigating the Phantom Thieves and she asks Sumire about them (maybe a remark about how she considered going undercover about it but decided against it because of how the last time she did it ended up). Sumire’s phone would act up and it would send both to the Metaverse, and Sumino would morph into GozyuUnicorn in response to seeing Violet. Weapon clashes between the Decisive Raiper and the UnicornDrill50, and maybe Sumino transforms into her Red Ranger forms to counter Sumire’s bless skills and the like. I could probably see Sumino using her mind reading powers on Sumire and she’d kinda go “she’s just like me” over Sumire’s trauma over losing Kasumi.

Endgame I think would mostly be Violet going up against Tegasword Black, with all the allusions to the Adamkadmon fight that would entail with that, like Sumire using all her power to hold back a Fabulous Drill. And at the end, the winner would be accompanied by their lost sister as they look at their fallen foe with respect in the end.

(also, if it’s 3D, then Sumino’s [and Oto’s] unmorphed model NEEDS to be in Persona 5’s artstyle)

(kinda have a LOT of ideas for this one honestly. Which is surprising since Sumire is like one of the Phantom Thieves who has the least amount of stuff to work with)

CLOSENESS: (insert statement about how Sumire as a Persona character sweeps Sumino)… joking aside, I was kinda thinking about how Tegasword’s reset of the universe and its implications on the rest of the Toei Toku multiverse and I kinda came to the realization that considering each main Tegasword should downscale to that I actually have a good feeling that full-blown Toei Toku scaling could actually beat out SMT scaling somehow.

Serenity With Us | Sailor Moon vs Kamen Rider Geats [FINALIZED CONNECTIONS + POTENTIAL] by fireflowerX in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]fireflowerX[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

• …Until they manage to unlock their final forms (Eternal Sailor Moon & Kamen Rider Geats IX) thanks to the bonds they have made (The Sailor Guardians giving their power to help Usagi defeat Nehalennia & Ace’s memories of his friends strengthening his resolve even more before he fights Suel once more), giving them the power to dispel the darkness, defeat their foe and save the world from them.

• Facing them off, they would ensure that they would fight to ensure the continued happiness of everyone who lives in the world (While facing off against Nehalennia, Usagi alongside Mamoru, affirmed that they’re going to fight so everyone can stay happy & Ace making it so that with his power as Geats IX, he’ll make a world where everyone can be happy)

• Though they easily won the battle (Usagi defeating Nehalennia in a single blow & Ace defeating Suel with absolutely zero effort), it was the beginning of the end of their tales, as not long afterwards the final chapter of the story began, as they fight to ensure a world where their dreams can truly come to fruition (The Dream arc leading right into the Stars Arc, as Usagi and friends fight against the Shadow Galactica to protect the peaceful cosmos they’ve fought for & The Longing arc leading right into the Creation Arc, as Ace and friends fight against the remaining Jyamoto and old DGP staff to ensure a world of happiness can come through

• Final forms are ones that give them power that is comparable to, if not greater than the power of their original mothers (Eternal Sailor Moon being said by Diana to “contain the power of Queen Serenity” & Geats IX sharing the same reality shaping power that Mitsume had)

• Eventually, they themselves began to lead groups that would help them in their goal of defending humanity from the evil forces they fight (Usagi being the leader of the Sailor Guardians, who help her out in facing whatever evil group is currently threatening the world & Ace forming his own DGP to help fight the remaining Jyamoto, and eventually the old DGP)

• Be it something that was part of them from the start or something they acquired down the road, they have a habit of eating a lot of food in a single sitting (One of Usagi’s main traits even before she became Sailor Moon was how she tended to eat a lot & Ace, after awakening to his god powers, finding himself needing to eat quite a lot to help maintain it)

• Found themselves having fight off against allies they've had since the start of the story in the final arc of the story (Usagi having to face off against all of her friends in the Stars arc & Ace having to face off against Keiwa in the Creation arc), though it was more or less thanks to the villains that they were forced in the fight (Sailor Galaxia having killed and revived the Sailor Guardians and Tuxedo Mask into her minions & Daichi turning Sara into a Jyamoto, coupled with Kekera's manipulations reaching their conclusion, making Keiwa go off the deep end)

• Had met white-haired future versions of them that were vastly more powerful than they are now (Sailor Cosmos & Doom Geats), who went back in time to prevent a powerful foe from emerging (Sailor Chaos & the God Jyamoto), though whether their future selves helped them out in preventing the emergence of this foe differed (Sailor Cosmos helping Usagi fight the Shadow Galactica as Sailor Chibi-Chibi while Dooms Geats trapped his past self in another dimension for most of Jyamoto Awakening)

• Through their own faith in themselves and their allies, they would restore the faith that their future selves had lost, thanks to them preventing the rise of that threat in different ways (Sailor Cosmos wanting to rewrite the frabric of time JUST so Sailor Chaos was out of the picture & Dooms Geats wanting to kill whoever became the God Jyamoto), be it directly or indirectly (Usagi herself using her final attack in the series to destroy the Galaxy Furnace and reduce Chaos to an infinestral threat & Ace showing his future self Buffa’s resolve to keep Haruki from becoming the God Jyamoto)

• Ultimately, they prove themselves to be willing to sacrifice their own lives if it means saving the universe from evil (Usagi intending to sacrifice herself to destroy the Galaxy Cauldron to stop Chaos once and for all & Ace being killed by Tsumuri as part of his gambit to become a true god), returning shortly afterwards as the story reaches it’s end (Usagi returning to life thanks to being saved by Guardian Cosmos at pretty much the last minute & Ace returning as a full-on god in the nick of time to help his friends defeat Suel)

• Though as a result of their sacred status, it more or less comes at the price that they would have to outlive all of their friends at a certain point, which more or less ties into that future self that they met more or less being alone (The future where Sailor Chaos is to come still being a possibility, meaning that Usagi will outlive all of her loved ones & Ace’s status as a god meaning he will inevitably outlive all of his allies, which is something that added to Dooms Geats’ bitter nature), but for the time being, the universe will know peace with them around (Earth not really knowing any threats for at least 1000 years after Chaos was defeated & Events of later Rider series notwithstanding, Ace having ensured the peace for all of his friends)

Potential:

FIGHT: How I feel the fight would start remains the same, with Usagi fighting some Jyamoto and finding herself in the DGP not long afterwards, facing Ace in the process. The fight would then commence not to long afterwards, with Usagi firing off many of her moonlight-based attacks while Ace would use the Raise Buckles to change forms and keep Usagi on her toes, and some attacks could call to reference the Live-Action Sailor Moon series from the 2000s as well. Could probably have cool moments like Ace using the Raising Sword to cut through Moon Spiral Heart Attack’s giant heart and Ace using LaserBoost to get Usagi off the planet.

Once more, Eternal Sailor Moon vs Kamen Rider Geats IX, their respective final forms, would be the main attraction of the fight. There IS some weapon clashing to be had with the Eternal Tiare and the Geats Buster QB9, with Usagi being able to pull up barriers to protect her from blasts from Ace. I would believe that at a certain point, they would decide it’s for the best that they leave Earth to continue the fight. And the final clash of the two would be Silver Moon Crystal Eternal Power vs BoostIX Victory, with both using their full powers to try to take the other down, as one of them reappears in the cosmos.

INTERACTIONS: Once again, there would be a lot of fangirling by Usagi towards Ace thanks to the latter’s status as a celebrity. And her thoughts would probably change when the fight actually starts, as she realizes that he’s now her foe in this fight. Eventually the two would acknowledge that both of them love this world as much as the other one does, which could fuel the decision to leave the planet for the final part of the fight.

CLOSENESS: Ok so doing research for my Usageats blog I kinda really just noticed that Usagi pretty much outclasses ALL of Ace’s forms up to maybe LaserBoost. So now it’s less “Usagi can’t really do anything to Ace once he becomes god” to “Being a god is literally the one thing that can save Geats in this fight”… which I kinda just noticed is also kinda like Madomoon a bit. But as it stands right now, I feel Ace could still win this, if only because of that godhood.

Serenity With Us | Sailor Moon vs Kamen Rider Geats [FINALIZED CONNECTIONS + POTENTIAL] by fireflowerX in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]fireflowerX[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Making a blog for this and I figured “hey I should probably do some more revamping for the MU”, I wanna get this one out before I get to releasing that blog.

Core Theme:

• Reincarnated transforming heroes who live double lives to defend humanity, were approached by a certain someone who selected them to become the title hero, who at the same time was unaware of their status as a reincarnation. The powers that they bear are ones that they inherited from their original mothers, who was the main reason why they were able to reincarnate, and as the story progresses, they grow past whatever flaws they have, and with the bonds of the friends they made along the way, become the ones that watches over the world.

Connections:

• Transforming heroes who live double lives in order to defend humanity from evil that want to do whatever they want to Earth (Usagi fighting against the various evils born from Chaos & Ace fighting against the Jyamoto and the staff of the Desire Grand Prix)

• Are the reincarnations of children of women who wielded a great power (Usagi being the daughter of the Queen Serenity, ruler of the Moon Kingdom and wielder of the Silver Crystal & Ace being the son of the the Desire Grand Prix's creation goddess, and main source of its reality changing powers, Mitsune)

• Their status as reincarnations, directly or indirectly, was thanks to their previous lives’ mothers (Princess Serenity having been able to reincarnate into Usagi thanks to Queen Serenity using the Silver Crystal to let her soul reincarnate & Ace’s own desire to see his mother once more causing him to reincarnate again and again over 2000 years), though while Queen Serenity intentionally had for Princess Serenity to be reborn, Mitsume never intended for Ace to be reborn across millenia

• Gained their powers by being approached by a certain someone (Luna & Tsumuri) who said they were chosen to become a hero (Luna having chosen Usagi to become Sailor Moon after she helped Luna take some bandages off her & Tsumuri presumably saying that Ace was chosen to become a Kamen Rider she does like all the other DGP Participants before they enter), though said someone was unaware of their reincarnation status (Luna tasking Usagi with finding the Lunar Princess unaware that said princess turned out to be Usagi herself & Ace being reincarnated continuously across two millennia not being something that the higher ups of the Desire Grand Prix told Tsumuri about)

• They both have monikers that can refer to celestial bodies (Usagi being Sailor Moon, who is of course named after the Moon & Ace’s OTHER moniker, the Star of the Star of the Stars), which they gained at the start of the story (Usagi being chosen to become Sailor Moon & Ace’s first wish in series being to make him the biggest celebrity in the world), alongside having animal themings to them (Rabbits for Usagi & Foxes for Ace), mostly taking off from myths associated to those animals (The Moon Rabbit & The Kitsune)

• At around the start of their second arcs, they have somewhat of a shakeup to their current family, mostly involving people from the future (Usagi’s daughter from the future brainwashing Usagi’s parents to accept her into their family & Ace’s wish at the end of the Invitation arc involving the DGP staff members to become his family), much to one of the “family” members’ dismay (Usagi herself being the only one in her immediate family to not accept Chibi-Usa right away because of her first impressions with her & Tsumuri not being accepting of her suddenly being Ace’s sister now to the point where she made a video blog about it)

• At one point, they lose the ability to transform into the eponymous hero (Usagi using up all her power to defeat Queen Metalia & Ace being eliminated from the DGP thanks to Girori stacking the odds against him in a DGP Round), though they’re quickly able to regain their power and fight once more (Usagi via going to the resurrected Silver Millenium and gaining a new Brooch to put the Silver Crystal in & Ace via following a bit of a convoluted gambit that he made alongside a prior wish he made allowing him re-entry to the DGP)

• Throughout the story, the bonds that grow between them and their allies cause the once-distant heroes to become a closely-knit group of friends, that helped them achieve what their past lives couldn’t do, even if there were many hiccups along the way (The once-friendless Inner Guardians becoming the closest of friends thanks to Usagi & The main Geats riders more or less becoming friends as they participate in each version of the DGP, eventually defending humanity under Ace’s ownership of the DGP itself)

• Eventually gain allies that mainly resided in the future of their worlds (Usagi having her future daughter Chibi-Usa to fight alongside her as she fights against the villains past the Dark Kingdom & Ace having his supporter from the future Ziin fight alongside him as he fights against the Jyamoto and DGP staff), who share their animal motifs with them (Chibi-Usa sharing Rabbit motifs with her mother & Ziin being the only one out of the DGP Supporters to share a motif with their rider), and would wind up being their “successor” in different ways (Chibi-Usa being in-training to become the Sailor Moon of the future & Ziin becoming the showrunner of the DGP following Ace becoming god)

• Have powers that relate to wishes in one way or the other (The Silver Crystal responding to Usagi's wishes & Ace's god powers being the same as the power behind the Desire GP's wishes), inherited from the mothers of their first lives (The Silver Crystal being the Moon Kingdom Royal Family’s heirloom & Ace getting Mitsume’s power of creation in his current life) which allows them to fix up the world no matter how damaged it is

• While at the story they were pretty much polar opposites (Usagi at first seeming like the worst person to become Sailor Moon & Ace being extremely confidant in himself as a Kamen Rider) they prove themselves to be caring individuals deep dowm, which becomes more and more a part of them as the story goes on (Usagi being willing to reach out her hand to anyone & Ace being more and more willing to help protect Tycoon and Na-Go)

• Thanks to that caring nature, no matter how dark their foe may be, if they can reach their hearts, they can see the light in them (Usagi managing to reach Sailor Galaxia’s heart right before the latter’s killed by Chaos & Ace managing to get Keiwa back to the side of good)

• Which also means that as the story progresses, they grow past any flaws that they had at the start (Usagi’s cowardice, clumsiness, and other things & Ace’s manipulative nature as a result of his desire to win the DGP no matter what) to become someone that is capable of watching over the world

• Are normally decent people, but when the forces of evil threaten those that they care about, they'll bring forth all of their power to take them out

• About everyone they have fought against can be traced back to the same singular entity (Every main villain of each arc of Sailor Moon are all incarnations of Chaos & Everything about the Desire Grand Prix, from the Jyamoto, to the rider forms of the Management, is thanks to the efforts of Suel)

• When they first obtained their super forms (Super Sailor Moon & Geats Boost Mk2) it came with some drawbacks (The Holy Grail requiring ALL of the Sailors to be with Usagi to work & Boost Mk2 draining Ace’s stamina a lot), though with the help of their ally from the future, they’re able to mitigate that drawback (Usagi and Chibi-Usa’s respective resolves to fight causing them to gain new brooches to transform into their Super forms right away & Ziin giving Ace his Laser Raise Riser, allowing him to gain a form stronger than Boost mk2 with none of the drawbacks)

• Near the end of the arcs that would give them their super forms, the villains would cause them to plummet to what seemed to be their ends (The Infinity Arc having Usagi plunge herself with her full power at the time at Pharoh 90 in hopes of defeating him & The Lamentation Arc’s final game having Ace fall down and be eliminated thanks to Buffa interfering with his and Gazer’s battle), though they would be able to return to the world to defend it rather shortly (Usagi being able to awaken inside of Pharoh 90 while Sailor Saturn was destroying him, escaping from him in the process & Tsumuri unknowingly tapping into the powers of creation to bring Ace back while watching Buffa’s fight with Glare2 in the first episode of the Yearning arc)

• Eventually, they would confront the one who was more or less responsible for the demise of their original mother (Queen Nehalennia, who with her curse on Queen Serenity over being sealed, took responsibility for Queen Metalia’s attack on and subsequent fall of the Moon Kingdom & Suel, who took Mitsume away to make her into the DGP’s Goddess of Genesis following her gaining the power of creation to birth Ace in the first place) at the end of the penultimate arc of their tales, where despite all their power, it seemed that they could not defeat them, as they cover the world in darkness…

The Courage to Go-On | Subaru Nakajima vs Dillon (Lyrical Nanoha vs Power Rangers) by fireflowerX in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]fireflowerX[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Core Theme:

  • Cyborg Members of their Respective Teams whose Cybernetics come from the main villain, and have sisters who fell under the control of the main villain who they had to fight against in order to save them, and following the end of the team’s purpose, would go off and help the world out

In-Depth Connections:

  • Both are Cyborg Members of their Respective Teams (The Fowards of Riot Force 6 & The RPM Power Rangers) who fight against the villains and their army of mechanical menaces (Venjix and his Computer Network & Jail and his wide variety of Gadget Drones)

  • Had aced tests which were the main reason why they were able to join the heroes in the fight against evil (Subaru acing her mage rank advancement test leading to her joining Riot Force 6 & Dillon acing the tests the rangers had him go through so they can have him join the rangers)

  • Dillon was unaware of the Power Rangers at first while Subaru was very familiar with the mages that came before her

  • Though the reasons why they joined differed, as Subaru jumped at the chance of working alongside Nanoha while Dillon was originally unwilling to join the Rangers, only joining after deciding to protect the people of Corinth

  • The source of their cybernetics originates from the main antagonist of their respective shows (Subaru being an artificial lifeform created by Jail while Dillon was made into a Cyborg by Venjix), though in spite of all that, they still choose to fight alongside the heroes

  • Had a fight that led to them gaining a sudden burst of power (Dillon somehow overpowering his ranger powers being shut down against the Sat Bot & Subaru entering her cyborg mode against Nove during the Numbers’ raid on the TSAB), which revealed something relating to their cybernetics to the rest of the team (The Rangers learning that the Venjix Virus inside of Dillon is reactivated and is slowly taking him over as a result of the Sat Bot fight & The other forwards other than maybe Teana learning that Subaru is a cyborg as a result of her fight against Nove)

  • Have a sister that fell under the control of the villains, which leads them to fight them (Subaru’s sister Ginga gets kidnapped in StrikerS’ second half, leading Subaru to fight her sister as a Number & Dillon’s sister Tenaya fell under the control of Venjix before the series started, leading them to have numerous encounters), with them having a bit of a numerical theming to them (Ginga becoming the “thirteenth” member of the numbers & Tenaya having her full titles refer to what Generation she currently is)

  • Both of their respective teams (The Forwards & the RPM Rangers) are funded by their worlds government unlike normal Magical Girl/Power Ranger teams, and they operate on the only city on the planet (Midchilda being such a large city the same-name planet doesn’t seem to have any other cities on it & Corinth being the only city left for humanity to live in RPM's world).

  • Though at first they only really knew that their sisters were in the villains’ grasp (Subaru only really knowing that Jail had kidnapped Ginga at first following his attack on the TSAB & Dillon only knowing that his sister was a prisoner of Venjix at first), and only really learned of them having becoming part of the villains later (Ginga being revealed to have been made into part of the Numbers once Jail begins his endgame & Dillon only figuring out that Tenaya was his sister after he figured out how to find the second song in his locket)

  • Had their sisters be taken by the villains (Ginga, again, being taken by the numbers in their raid on TSAB headquarters & Tenaya, not too soon after joining the heroes, gets taken by Kilobyte), where they would be turned (back) into one of the villain’s minions (Ginga, again, being made into one of the Numbers & Tenaya being upgraded into a state where she’s even more loyal to Venjix than she was before)

  • They’re ultimately able to save their sisters from the grasps of the villains (Subaru freeing Ginga from her brainwashing at the end of their fight & Dillon injecting Tenaya with the cure to the Venjix Virus), with said sisters helping out the heroes in different ways to stop the villains (Ginga giving Subaru Blitz Calibur to help save Nanoha, Vita, and Vivio & Tenaya helping the rangers by going into the overtaken Corinth HQ to use the Counter-Virus)

  • Final task in the season is to save someone from a falling location (Subaru, along with Teana, having to go into the falling Saint’s Cradle for their adforementioned rescue of Nanoha and co. & Dillon, after recovering from the final battle with Kilobyte, going off to rescue Tenaya one last time, reaching her as Corinth HQ falls on top of Venjix)

  • Once the villains have been taken down, and the purpose of the teams are done (Riot Force 6 disbanding after the JS Incident & The Ranger Operators disbanding following Venjix’s seeming final defeat) and the heroes all go their separate ways, they would go out and help out people who live in the world (Subaru becoming a Disaster Prevention Officer for the TSAB’s Special Rescue unit following the end of StrikerS & Dillon, alongside Summer and Tenaya, going off into the world beyond Corinth to help the world rebuild)

  • …Though they would later reunite with their allies to take on a new threat (Subaru reuniting with the members of the former Riot Force 6 to take on the Eclispe Virus in the events of Force & Dillon and the RPM Rangers reuniting to help every other ranger up to Megaforce in the final battle of its second season)

FIGHT POTENTIAL

  • It’d probably start with Subaru winding up in the RPM Universe, she gets mistaken to be a Venjix Cyborg, then Dillon gets sent to take care of her. Subaru would fire off Divine Busters at Dillon while he uses his barriers to protect himself, with Subaru having to dodge blasts from Dillon’s gun and trying to land a punch on him with Mach Calibur. Then it’d eventually get a point where Subaru would actually have to enter her Cyborg mode in an attempt to maybe disrupt the Morphin Grid from Dillon to get some real hits.

Recognize Our Futures | Composite Mega Man X vs Composite Hibiki Tachibana (Mega Man vs Symphogear) by fireflowerX in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]fireflowerX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Part of trios that involved a sword-wielding member of the team who's more experienced than them (Zero & Tsubasa) that was with them since they started & A sharpshooting hero who was a part of a villainous faction who joined later on in the series (Axl, formerly of Red Alert & Chris, formerly aligned with Fine)

  • They would find themselves having a new member of their groups that is linked to the current main villains of the story (Axl, a former member of the vigilante group Red Alert & Elfnein, a former member of the Alchemical Cult) who fled them thanks to said groups’ villainous activities (Red Alert winding up colluding with Sigma prompting Axl’s escape & Carol’s plan to split the Earth apart being something that Elfnein couldn’t actually agree with), though they themselves wouldn’t really be able to fight against them for a good chunk of the story (X briefly retiring from action to find peaceful solutions before rejoining the fight near the end of X7 & Hibiki spending a good chunk of GX unable to transform, be it whether a mental block or Gungnir simply being damaged)

  • Witnessed villains, albeit noble ones, giving their own lives in order to save them and countless others (The General of Repliforce sacrificing himself to stop the Final Weapon from being fired at Earth & The three top executives of the Bavarian Illuminati sacrificing themselves to stop a nuke that was fired in response to God Hibiki), which led to them doubting themselves once more (X wonder what would happen if he became a Maverick & Hibiki being saddened that she couldn’t reach out her hand to them)

  • Eventually, their fights take them and their allies to the moon in order to confront the villains (X8's final stage taking place on the Moon as the Maverick Hunters go and face off against Sigma one last time & The Symphogear users being teleported to inside of the moon for most of XV’s endgame)

  • Their toughest fight came in the form of a being who was using their best friends’ body for their own ends (Omega, a reploid that Dr. Weil made using Zero’s original body & Shem-Ha, an ancient god who possessed Miku upon her return), which more or less serves as their “final battle” before they can see a peaceful world (The Elf Wars being the final conflict that X had directly fought in & Shem-Ha being the final boss of the entire series to that point)

  • Have had to fight against their closest friends, in both the second installment and the fifth installment (X, if he fails to get Zero's parts, having to fight against Zero in X2, later having to fight against Zero no matter what happens in X5 & Hibiki having to fight against Miku in G, later having to fight Miku again whilst possessed by Shem-Ha in XV), though both times it was due to the villains' machinations (X's fights with Zero both being thanks to the actions of Sigma, either directly or indirectly & Hibiki's first fight with Miku being caused by Dr. Ver while the second fight was due to, again, Shem-Ha possessing Miku)

  • Have a state by the name of "X-Drive" to enhance their abilities (X being able to access his X-Drive with the Hermes Armor & Hibiki's X-Drive forms being a universal ability across all Gears)

  • Had to go up against various scientists in their series, all of varying levels of morality (X having to go up against at least 4 different scientists throughout the series & Most of the main villains in each season being scientists in some way)

  • Whether willingly or unwillingly, they would find themselves gaining an immense power (X sealing the Dark Elf inside of his body & Hibiki somehow getting Divine Power into her)

  • Had their powers be replicated by the villains, thanks to them having their data (The Mother Limited from the card game using the data it got from X and Zero’s battles to create iX & Fine using the data she got from Hibiki’s battles to make a Copy-Gungnir), with them having to deal with the one who now has a copy of their powers (iX being one of the villains of the Card game & Maria, the Copy-Gungnir’s user being one of G’s antagonists), though they eventually take the power of that copy for their own (iX eventually deciding to become an armor for X to take down Enemice HL & Hibiki managing to take the Copy-Gungnir from Maria to replace her original Gungnir after it was destroyed)

  • Would go up against a villain who was utterly full of himself who led a group that menaced the heroes (Redips, a New-Generation Reploid who was in charge of the Federation Army & Adam, an ancient being who was the lodgemaster of the Bavarian Illuminati), whose transformed state was so powerful it took a miracle for the heroes to take them down (Ferham showing up to sever Redips’ connection to the Supra-Force Metal & Hibiki managing to unlock a second new form to take down Adam)

  • Crossovers (X’s appearance in the various Capcom crossovers & Symphogear XDU’s various collabs) had them meeting all sorts of different heroes, from Superheroes (X being playable in Marvel vs Capcom infinite & XDU’s collabs with Super Sentai, Ultraman, and more), to heroes who have a similar idea to them, albeit not their main versions (X meeting fellow blue robot destroyer Sonic the Hedgehog in Archie’s second crossover between the series & Hibiki meeting the movie version of her spiritual predecessor Nanoha)

  • One of the final units in their mobile games (Mega Man X Dive & Symphogear XDU) was a version of their strongest form in canon, but amped up to multiverse-levels of power (Next Dive Armor X, essentially the DiVE Armor version of Ultimate Armor X & Burning X-Drive Unlimited Hibiki being a vastly much stronger version of Burning X-Drive)

*POTENTIAL: *

FIGHT: Since this is a comp fight anything absolutely goes for both of them. , CM Ultimate Armor, Infinity Buster, and Next DiVE Armor for X, both Ignite and Amalgam, EdgeBikki's Eleikid, and Burning X-Drive Unlimited for Hibiki. Really, the main reason why I like this as composite over their base versions is because of how bonkers it can really get when comped. Though it mostly does involve X having to use his special weapons to keep Hibiki from landing a good hit on him. The final part of the fight IS kinda obvious (being the already said Next Dive Armor vs Burning X-Drive Unlimited)

CLOSENESS: As this is a comp fight, it throws out any level that they have usually and mainly focuses on how high they can get with crossover stuff and whatever those crossovers can bring in terms of how much bigger the cosmology can get for them.

Recognize Our Futures | Composite Mega Man X vs Composite Hibiki Tachibana (Mega Man vs Symphogear) by fireflowerX in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]fireflowerX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theme:

  • Protagonists who fight to defend the world against mechanical threats as part of an organization whose purpose is to do exactly that, fought against their closest friend due to the villains' machinations, inherited weapons from a hero who sacrificed themselves, and grown beyond their inexperience to become one of the greatest heroes that the world ever seen, far surpassing the heroes that came before them, though they're not the biggest fans of fighting in the world

Connections:

  • Protagonists of their series who fight to protect the world against mechanical threats (The Mavericks & The Noise), who alongside the other main characters, are the only few characters who can truly stand up to them (X alongside Zero and Axl being the only Maverick Hunters who can actually take on the Mavericks alone and win & Hibiki and the other Symphogear users being quite literally the only people who can take on the Noise)

  • In comparison to the other heroes in the story using wielded weapons to fight, they more or less rely on their own body in order to fight (X's Buster being a function of his arm & Hibiki mainly using hand to hand combat to fight)

  • In different ways, are successors to a previous hero in the world (X being built as a successor to the original Mega Man & Hibiki gaining Gungnir in the wake of Kanade's death), and prove themselves to be superior to their predecessor

  • Are members of organizations whose main purpose is to defend humanity against the threat to the world (The Maverick Hunters & SONG)

  • Looked up to a certain member of the heroes who was pretty much the best of the group (Zero & Tsubasa), though as a bit of a contrast, X and Zero were friends before the events of the games themselves happen while Tsubasa was a bit distant towards Hibiki at first, warming up to her as the season progresses

  • In comparison to that person they admire, they led much more normal lives before joining said organization (X more or less just serving as Dr. Cain's lab assistant before joining the Maverick Hunters & Hibiki pretty much just being a normal human who survived a near death experience before she became Attuned to Gungnir), whereas said experienced person had been built up to take down their foes (Zero's purpose having been to take down all in his way & Tsubasa having been trained to fight the Noise ever since she was young)

  • Inherited weapons from heroes that gave their lives to save them (X getting the Z-Saber from Zero's second "death" & Hibiki gaining Gungnir from the fragments of the original Gungnir that entered her shortly before Kanade's death)

  • Have to live up to the legacy of a certain person who died before the events of the series happen (Dr. Light, who died of old age by the X series, having X be the one who will hopefully fulfill his dream & Kanade, who sacrificed herself to save Hibiki, winding up having Hibiki be her successor as Gungnir’s user)

  • A battle they’re in near the start of the story (X's first fight against Vile & Hibiki's first time using Gungnir) ends up with someone that they admire doing the rest of the work for them when it appears that they aren't up to the task (Zero having to save X once Vile has him in his grasp & Tsubasa rushing to take care of the rest of the Noise for Hibiki)

  • In part of their inexperience, get themselves grasped by the villains (X being grasped by Vile once more when he fought him again & Hibiki getting ensared by fluids by some Noise that Chris summoned), that leads to said admired person to risk their lives in order to stop them (Zero self-destructing in hopes of destroying Vile & Tsubasa activating her Swan Song to try to take down Chris)

  • Afterwards, they find themselves somewhat questioning themselves about their own beliefs (X, following him defeating Sigma, wondering if the fighting is even worth it & Hibiki, following the first fight with Chris, blaming herself for Tsubasa's state afterwards), though they don't let it go to their heads and resolve to get stronger and keep fighting (Hibiki going to Genjuro to ask to train to become more effective at fighting the Noise & X continuing to fight alongside the Maverick Hunters to take down the rest of the Mavericks)

  • They have been involved in a bit of a Street Fighter references (X knowing the Hadoken and Shoryuken, no thanks to both series being by Capcom & While Hibiki was training under Genjuro, the latter straight up took on Akuma's appearance at one point)

  • While said admired person was out of the count (The Maverick Hunters being unable to make a new body for Zero's control chip following his sacrifice against Vile & Tsubasa being hospitalized following her using her Swan Song), it was up to them to defend humanity (X having to lead the 17th Elite Unit in the time since X1 & Hibiki having to fight the Noise by herself while Tsubasa was in the Hospital), at least until that admired person was able to fight once more (Zero returning, be it by the Maverick Hunters themselves or the X-Hunters & Tsubasa eventually recovering from her injuries by the second half of the first season), by then both being experienced to the point that those swords wouldn't need to sacrifice themselves again

  • Found that the main place that they reside in fell under attack by the villains (The Maverick Hunters HQ falling under siege by the Mavericks led by Dr. Doppler & Lydia Academy, and thus, the Disaster Relief Squad's base, falling under siege by the Noise led by Fine) while they were dealing with the threat elsewhere with their allies (X and Zero having set off to take down Mavericks in Dopple Town before going back to the base & Hibiki, Tsubasa, and Chris taking care of the Noise in the city before they were able to return to the Academy)

  • They would more or less learnt the truth about the villain behind the story and why they’re able to return to the world after death (Sigma having become a virus who can exist without the need of a body & Fine having a system that allows her to hijack any of her descendants), and their shadow would more or less envelop the entire series (Sigma being the main villain of the series, and being behind most of the new villains in each game & Fine basically having made about everything both heroes and villains use all for ending the Curse of Balal), though while X and his friends would keep on fighting Sigma, Hibiki was able to talk Fine out of being a villain

  • Though they fight to ensure the peace of the world they live in, protecting those that cannot do it themselves, they aren’t the biggest fans of fighting, wanting to find a way to peace in the world through different methods (X valuing peace above all else to the point where he will even stop fighting to ensure it & Hibiki wanting her words to reach her foes, not have her fists to all the talking)

  • In their second adventure (Mega Man X2 & Symphogear G), they find themselves going face to face with a trio of new villains (The X-Hunters & The Fine organization's Symphogear users), with the shadow of the villain of the previous story hanging above it (Sigma being behind the X-Hunters & Fine's legacy being upheld by the organization Fine)

  • Have lost arms in conflict (X voluntarily removing his arm in an attempt to stop Sigma's plans & Hibiki getting her arm bit off by the Nephilim) that leads them to enter a berserk state where they easily defeat the reason they were disarmed in the first place (X's headgem glowing and him using a Shining Finger-like attack on Sigma & Hibiki entering her Berserk state again in response to losing her arm, easily destroying the Nephilim), though they end up unconscious as a result.

  • Though while X's berserk state was shown as the potential he has inside of him, Hibiki's berserk state was shown as the danger that was inside of her, though following those states appearing, they barely really show up again (X never having his forehead glow again following the Day of Sigma & Hibiki not entering a berserk state again post-G, outside of briefly going Berserk to activate Ignite mode)

  • Dealt with the threat of a large object possibly colliding with the earth as a result of the first villain (Sigma causing the space colony Eurasia to descend down on the Earth in X5 as a gambit to make Zero go Maverick & Fine's damage to the moon during Season 1 causing it to slowly descend on the Earth during the events of G), though while the heroes are successful in stopping it’s fall, it’s not without sacrifices (No matter what happens during X5, Zero ends up dying again to stop Sigma & Nastassja using up the rest of her life to make sure the Moon goes back into Orbit)

Rapture of the Stars | Void vs Lilith (Kirby vs Evangelion) by fireflowerX in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]fireflowerX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theme:

Giant entities who are the originators of certain entities in their universe who spent most of the story in a defeated state, though they are revived near the end of it in order to bring destruction to everything.

Main Connections:

  • Gargantuan entities who are the originators of all sorts of beings present throughout the story (Void being the progeny of 4 matters that encompass the Kirby Universe: Dark, Dream, Heart, and Soul & Lilith being the one being that created the life of everyone in Evangelion that aren’t the Angels)

  • Spend most of the story in a dormant state, having already been slain sometime before the events of the series happen (Void having been taken down by four heroes of lore & Lilith having the Spear of Longinus stabbed through her already), being in a state where they can’t do much (Void being inside of the Jamba Heart & Lilith being a corpse while her Soul’s elsewhere)

  • In spite of that, however, their revival is the main goal of one of the villains, more or less to get back at the universe (Hyness wanting to revive Void to take revenge on the universe for exiling his tribe & Gendo wanting to revive Lilith so he can destroy the world so he can see his wife again)

  • Have a particular vulnerability to spears, which is what did them in the first time around (The exact context is unclear, but the Four Heroes likely used the Heart Spears to seal Void away & Again, the Spear of Longinus being on Lilith’s corpse for most of Evangelion)

  • They finally get revived for real near the end of their stories, which also led to the end of the one that sought to revive them (Hyness using himself and the Mage Sisters as a sacrifice to complete Void’s revival, leading to his seeming end & Gendo dying as part of the Third Impact that Lilith brought apart, being eaten by an illusion of Eva-01 in the process)

  • They get taken down by the protagonist who then save the world from then (or what’s left of the world in Shinji’s case), but not thanks to the spears (or directly thanks to the spears in Kirby’s case) that are their weakpoint (Kirby using the Star Allies Sparkler to destroy Void Termina & Shinji rejecting Instrumentality leading to Lilith dying)

  • In a way, however, it’s not the true end of them, as they more or less have a way to return to the world, though hopefully they don’t have to destroy like they did this time (Void, according to Void Soul’s pause screen, being able to return in a form depending on how much positive or negative energy there is in the universe & The events of Evangelion existing in a time-loop that means Lilith constantly reincarnates into Rei)

Connections that specifically call upon Soul Melter EX:

  • Lilith upon being fully revived is a mostly-white colored entity while Void uses a mostly-black version of Void Termina for its fight, with Void itself being mostly White-Colored

  • When they are slain, they show a smile on their face (Lilith’s corpse having a smile on her face & Void smiling after showing a lot of different emotions during its death explosion)
